It's just fantastic when those conditions materialise and one of the best things about photography, is heading out with anticipation and not knowing what will happen. You got some super images Stuart. Very fond memories of that afternoon on Holme Fell last year on the workshop and good to see how different it looks at this time of year.
Thanks Wendy yeah this was a pleasant surprise I must say as I’ve gone out under what I’d consider more typical conditions/forecasts for mist only to find nothing which I’m sure you have too. Yes it’s a location which really works all year and as you say looks very different each season.
Evening Stuart great video always love the misty conditions. Thanks for your hospitality the other week when myself and my wife popped in for a chat Many thanks Tony and Laura
Wow Stuart, all the images were awesome especially the two trees and the landscape version of the inversion with the heather foreground. What a stunning morning.
Holme Fell as I've never seen it before - this is what happens when you put a great photographer in front of an epic scene 🎉 Image 3 and 5 were my faves, thanks for bringing us along with you 😊
Beautiful images from a beautiful morning. Shame it wasn't like that the weekend just gone when I was there myself with flat light and grey skies. Stunning pictures Stuart, thanks for taking us along. 👍
Simply stunning conditions! This is what dreams are made of !! Absolutely incredible images but 12.50 was a dream !! You will love the 100-400, pretty much my most used lens these days ! Great Vlog Stuart
@@StuartMcGlennon always greatly appreciated Stuart, thank you. But seriously, those conditions were insane, what I would give to have been there to experience it
Being thrilled to bits about this outing was fully justified, Stuart - an absolutely beautiful scene unfolding with shots to match. Many thanks for sharing 👍
Hi Stuart what can I say your latest video well worth the wait you must be so glad you got up what a fabulous morning shoot just stunning and great to watch wonderful location wonderful images many thanks Stuart and well done mate 👍
Great shots Stuart! What an incredible morning of light and conditions. And, I can never get enough of the terrific colour the heather brings to a composition. Well done. Keep up the great work!
What a cracking morning Stuart and some fabulous images. I do like to see in dawn on Holme Fell, it can be such a magical place especially if you get it to yourself and maybe with the deer for company. Sadly I've never had fog like that before. Loved the images, including the heather shots and for me personally I preferred the portrait shot. Great vlog, thanks.
WOW! That was something special Stuart. I loved this vlog and the images were amazing. It is so so hard making a video when conditions are like this as you are in two minds all the time. Well done mate!
Great stuff bud. Impressed how calm you remained. Gorgeous images and footage throughout, rather partial to the final drone image. Cheers for the heads up.
Stunning conditions and great video. Lovely photos throughout but my favs where the landscape Heather one and the drone shot. Gorgeous light, great job Stuart.
Love that drone footage, particular the one at 10:22, shows the extent of the mist. Who knew at the start of the morning, just how amazing that light would get.
Was late for the party with this one Stuart - so have now just watched it twice. Excellent mornings work in superb conditions well done yet again mate.
Hi Stuart, what a fantastic location and you could not of asked for better conditions, well worth the early start, some fantastic images , I really liked the Heather shots towards the Langdales , they were really nice especially I thought the landscape version. Some great drone work and Images , you must of been non stop up there that morning. Really enjoyed that ! Take care mate.
Well, when you're doing your end of year review that'll your favourite shoot sorted out, then. 😊👍 By the way, was very impressed that you were mucking about with a drone in those conditions. My stills camera would be melting down and there would be no video at all 😂
That certainly was spectacular, I liked the shots at 9:34 &9:54 best but I also thought that some of the drone shots would work as single images as well. Thanks for your vlogs but also thanks for your wonderful newsletter, it really is an excellent piece of work and it is a nice surprise when it drops in the inbox.
Kid in candy shop conditions! I’m amazed you find time to do pieces to camera. I’d be too keen to shoot everything. I guess that’s the difference between someone based there and a visitor. You’re not in a stupid rush. Thanks for sharing this gorgeous morning with us
Cheers Adam oh believe me I definitely wanted to shoot everything lol truth be told I’m amazed the video has come together as well as it has given I felt I was just cobbling it together around frantic shooting.
Stunning conditions. A dream situation for any photographer, although I completely appreciate the urgency to make the most of the situation. All the best from Dorset sir
I liked this one, simple, to the point, & beautiful images! Not like some videos where it drones on & on about getting the shot & gets overly complicated to the point where I stop watching! Keep it up Stuart!
What I would have done to have witnessed stupendous conditions like that, I cannot tell you. Envious, to say the least. Some wonderful images captured as always and the B roll was looking amazing too! I was a little surpised that you ignored the wider angle views showing the how the mist hung in all the troughs and the peaks poking out from it to give that layering effect for your stills, that only appeared in the B roll from the drone, as it too looked epic! Or is that kind of misty image a bit clichéd for you? Still I've never ever witnessed conditions like that for myself, so it was great to get a taste for it from your vlog. Trouble is, I'll long for these kind of conditions even more now and I suspect I'll be waiting a good many years before I do.
Thanks Ian, to answer your question, there was probably another 20 shots that I spotted but simply didn't have time to shoot them all with full attention due to filming the video - as I mentioned in it the video on these occasions is a real pain to be honest. What I can tell you is of all the potentials that I didn't shoot, the ones I did were the strongest compositions. I could have shot another 50 so-so images but that's never been my approach.
