Not all babies respond to that. For some babies this would be overstimulating. A face massage sometimes worked on one of mine, but she didn't always want that. As a parent I listened. Sometimes I had to rock and sing to her for 40 minutes, but once she was asleep she'd stay asleep until 6am. Then we'd nurse and read and back to sleep for another 90 minures. My other baby fell asleep very fast without rocking or singing, but she woke up 1-3 times a night, and didn't take long naps. Sleep consultants can help figure out the best sleep pattern, but every baby is different. The best thing any parent can do is get to know their baby through obervation. Take time, observe their behavior, don't make assumptions too quickly. If their naps are long and/or late, baby will have a later bedtime naturally or they'll wake up more often at night.

If only as Early years teachers could understand what it is best for our children , not for us, our practice would improve dramatically. Listen to the child, if pushes your hand is not right you keep doing. Observation, try what the child likes, respect their decisions, and NOT. base your practice in what everyone does, always think am I doing right? How much I understand about the sleeping process and how body works and what happen when a child is sleeping? RESEARCH,RESEARCH,RESEARCH. OBSERVATION AND THEN ASSESSMENT. You are going to be an amazing teacher.

Very interesting. I was very in tune with my son and followed these strategies (no pacifier though) to put him to sleep intuitively. We also did elimination communication. He pretty much always blew up his diapers when I was about to change them once we got home from the hospital so that’s how we got started on that before I ever even knew about it. I started looking into it and reading up on it when we’d already been doing it for months. Also, I find the calmer I was and my presence was (and still is), the calmer my kids respond. Good sleep is so important for everyone. Best tip my midwife gave me: sleep when your baby sleeps.

What is the elimination communication?
@Mictlantecuhtli
@Mictlantecuhtli 2 года назад
Works only when you have only one child.

@@FoodShowFan Elimination communication (EC) involves using timing, signals, cues, and intuition to know when babies need to “eliminate waste”. Instead of wearing diapers, parents and caregivers hold babies over the potty. Studies show that this method can help babies learn to use the potty at earlier stages.

That looks great and all but the best alternative is this book called “On Becoming baby wise” this book teaches you to teaches your baby to fall asleep on its own with out you doing the rocking, swing , food, etc., basically triggers, to fall asleep. I have 2 kids, 6 nieces and nephews that this has work for. My nieces and nephews are from two separate households, so basically three different families getting the same result from this book. It a short book which gives phenomenal results!

My daughter is 30 years old. I did this when she was a baby. It works, so does softly rubbing the neck and back. Never read a book on this.

When my daughter was a baby she spent alot of time with her great grandmother, who would put her to sleep by rubbing down her nose with one finger... she is now twenty years old and her boyfriend can still make her fall asleep by doing the same thing. I really wish I knew this when she had bad insomnia between the ages of 14 and 16.

My mum said she did this to me as a baby, and I would always riggle and fight to get out of it. Now I have panick attacks if I get my feet trapped in the sheets or am restricted in any way, shape, or form🫤
