A Smoky Mountain Overnighter

Nate and I made it out a few weeks ago for a quick overnight trip. It was very smoky due to all the wildfires, but did clear out by morning. It was just a quick trip so we didn't go to far. This was my second time to this lake this year and fishing was just as poor as the first time. Nate caught a quality brook trout early in the day while I got skunked again. A cold front came in this weekend and it was unusually cold for early august. We had a great time and hoping to get a few more good trips in before the snow starts falling.

Glad to see you back out to one of your old favorites. Too bad you got skunked but try try again. That brook was short but chunky. Nice catch for Nate. That would have been a meaty one to cook up. Beautiful sunset over the lake with the reflections. Well done on your video. Have a great day.

You made it back! In the 8 times I’ve been there, the camping is A+, but the fishing always leaves something to be desired. You’ve had the best luck I’ve seen there. It’s been smoky this summer for sure! That deer was sweet!

Yeah, historically I've done very well here, but this makes two back to back skunked trips. Always fun though.

Great trip that cold front was gnarled and good thing the smoke cleared out. Maybe we could get a bike ride or a camp in soon. Hope all is well

That lake has not been kind to you this year. Nevertheless, it is one of the most beautiful lakes in the western Uintas. I caught one there in early July. September is generally when I do good there.

Yeah it's been a struggle this year but historically fishes extremely well. It is still one of my favorite lakes and good for a quick easy location to avoid the people at the lakes above it.
