"I've not read Dracula as I'm not into the whole horror thing" says Rebecca while wearing the most gothic-horror inspired outfit ever! 😂🤣

And I don't think it is the horror element she is wearing it for... Nice though, innit...

Brilliant video! I've been up and down those steps a few times but don't know a lot about them. Most of the time I was to busy looking across to the railway station!

Great place Whitby Old Town, the New Town with a working railway which has heritage services and a costal abandoned railway and station!!!! When life is easier you must visit when the Goth Festival(s) are on best time is late October

I missed seeing that you had released this video - probably because it took the carrier pigeon some time to fly the 18,701,130 meters from Whitby Abbey to where I'm sitting (or sixty one million, three hundred and fifty five thousand, four hundred and forty eight feet !!!) Glad to see someone put in the "equivalent to a 15 story building" comment. Having never been to Whitby before it is somewhere to add to my 'Places to go to once world travel opens up again' list. Thanks for posting and keep safe

Haven't been to Whitby since the 90s, was planned along with Thirsk, Thornton le Dale NYMR etc in May this year on our Yorkshire week. We never made it? 😣 Daughters remember it well though only toddlers at the time. Not because of the beauty or history, but because I burst one of their Thunderbird helium balloons slamming car boot closed when leaving 😣

Some of my ancestors on my dad's side are buried in that churchyard although they left Whitby for work in the shipyards of West Hartlepool as it was then called in the 1920s.

Hey perfect top to cover Whitby! I have Whitby connections and can say I’m a local. But Whitby also has the Whitby goth Weekend twice a year (Covid not withstanding!) . There is also the Captain Cook link and the North Yorkshire Steam Railway, the Red Brick railway viaduct and Fish n Chips! Lots to mention!

Love Whitby & been there many times, mostly for the Goth weekends but also other times. Once stayed at a cottage at the bottom of the steps, which led to 15 stitches in my knee as a result of a bit of a tumble. Yes I admit there my have been a few beers involved. Glad you love the place too

Well it's nice to see you and Lawrence out and about still! Those steps look like they are to shallow. Believe it or not the accepted height of stair steps is 7 1/4in to 7 1/2 in high, because if they are more or less it makes it hard for people to climb them. It's also makes it hard to climb down them as well, especially for children. When I worked in carpentry I asked why this was true and was told "because it is"! The main library in Rochester NY is considered a great design,,,except for the main steps; at 6in high they are too shallow and few people use them more then once, preferring either the elevator or back steps.

And also the location of the Synod of Whitby in 664. The place where The Dream of the Rood was written. Whitby is a lot more than the very excellent Dracula book, you will be welcome back as we like the disused Scarborough to Whitby rail line as a walk :-) Hint hint .
