One of the best parts about Mt. Washington in the winter: Not having to wait in line for your summit selfie pic!

And I would not have put on the snow shoes either... I'd have broken out the butt sled LONG ago by that point.

Oo that was sweet! And the people taking all the chairs who didn’t hike up and needed a break lol

I should invest in one! Haha

Exhausted by the end of the hike? You looked exhausted by the time you hit the summit, Adam. The views were spectacular, and the ice formations around the buildings looked like something from Ice Station Zebra. The skiers sounded like they were on pure ice, too. Did you have an ice Axe with you? I'm not surprised it took you 12hrs with all the positioning of the camera and the constant walking back and forwards. You are certainly dedicated to your art, but please, Adam, don't put us above safety. It's definitely a top-notch vlog, one of the best. Thanks for sharing, but stay safe out there.
@AdamHoyt
@AdamHoyt Год назад
O I most certainly was haha. I think that's what I really meant because it was such a much more easy time going down and used so many different muscles. No ice axe and there was no true safety issues involved that's why I picked the perfect day to do it!

I watched this on my TV before work today. I don't know why this video doesn't have at least 50k views. It's one of the best Mt. Washington videos ever made.

Great video Adam! You were asking a while back about suggestions for other hikes.......a good one to check out would Lynn Woods Reservation in Lynn, MA. several different loop options featuring both a Steel tower (not accessible) and a Stone Tower (sometimes accessible) with great views of the Boston Skyline on a clear day...........FYI
@AdamHoyt
@AdamHoyt Год назад
I certainly need to go explore around the Lynn woods. That's a place I have not tackled yet and I bet there are a bunch of good trails in there!

Adam, you outdid yourself; this video is AMAZING. I held my breath when you were going up the steep section. Kinda scary, to be sure. How did you have the energy for that long shot, oh my God? But it came out incredible. I had it on our TV, and I yelled to my husband in the other room- come here, you have to see this! Great job; you could really feel your exhaustion.
@AdamHoyt
@AdamHoyt Год назад
Thank you so much. I knew it would look good on a tv. Hopefully it still looked good on the phones most of my viewers use instead lol. O I didn't really. Maybe it was knowing I'm here and I'm the one who will do it and get the shot because otherwise what was this all for lol. Hope you enjoy all the ones to come!

Wow, wow, wow! I guess I can cross hiking Mt Washington in the winter off my bucket list since I feel like I was just there. That was totally amazing and very other worldly as you pointed out. A picture perfect day and you captured the views very well. I am just glad you did not tell me you were doing this ahead of time. You should really hike with someone on such a challenge hike just to please your mother 😊

Adam, I am so glad you did a collab with Taylor the Nahamsha Hiker! I love the style of your videos, so beautiful and informative, and this one is no exception. We are going to take the Cog up to Waumbek Station tomorrow. I hope we have as beautiful weather as you did on this hike!

O thank you. I am always happy when I get a chance to hike with her and talk shop. OO I hope your ride up the cog was a delightful one. That was still a nice area with a nice view when I went by. I hope you keep enjoying any videos and any possible future collaborations.

I’m planning a summit attempt next week. People have recommended either the Cog or Jewell (or back down Ammo that I’m taking up) to go down. I was thinking Jewell until I saw that snow field section that kinda had you concerned. Would you say you felt safer going down the Cog even at its steepest points? Thanks for any feedback! Amazing video, you are my hero for getting all those shots on one of the toughest winter hikes out there. Wow
@AdamHoyt
@AdamHoyt 5 месяцев назад
Hey! So going down the cog was tricky for me because there were some steep sections. But it’s all different and depends on the conditions. This was last year. So the jewel snow field felt hard and crunchy and towards seemingly a cliff. Jewel was more squishy snow for me that was hard to walk on for the steep parts but didn’t seem to slide right towards a cliff haha. I still felt like I would have been better off with crampons or an ice axe. But I just went super slow and slid along my butt to keep myself in control. For that one part. But then it was super easy to walk after that. Idk if there is as much snow there still now with how warm the winter was compared to last year. Look into some more recent trail reports! Be safe!

Nice job! Would you recommend hiking the cog up and down?
@AdamHoyt
@AdamHoyt Год назад
Oo it’s certainly an easier path up and down in the snow but I dont think I’d recommend it normally it’s also completely exposed the whole time for obvious reasons.

Wait Adam I’m new here just subscribed mate, nice channel! But is this place like this RIGHT NOW…as in snow in April mate???? Thx in advance for any reply!!!
@AdamHoyt
@AdamHoyt Год назад
Glad you're enjoying it so far! In every video I make I include the date of the hike in the description. This hike was on March 22nd so almost April. The snow has begun to melt and so there is definitely less snow on the mountain now but still some snow up there. And in some of the ravines the snow has been known to stick around into June or July where it is mostly shady the whole time haha.
