South Korea is one of the best countries based on their citizens, I have visited and they are ALL great people and they know how bad life in the north is so they will help anyone
@@adinayar8614 Probably their family or the thought of another loyalist soldier shooting at them. I'm sure there are any number of reasons they stay even though they want to leave.
It's quite ridiculous people making up stories of what happened by saying those soldiers purposely missed their shots and so on. No, they won't, and they didn't, they know their family along with themselves will be executed if they miss their shots.
I highly doubt that. If they miss their shots, 3 generations of their families would be tortured and executed. These soldiers know that if they fail at their job, it's not just their lives on the line, it's the lives of their parents, children, and grandparents all hanging in their hands. This is how N. Korea controls it's people, through fear and torture.
@@RYSyoutube America is freedomless. You get arrested for anything and corruption is and police brutality is promoted. I've lived Korea and america dumbass
@DÅN Smh you mean the difference between a tyranical, nationalistic dictatorship and a democracy. North Korea is not communist nor does it pretend to be.
@Bob Watters Whenever a communist regime fails communists are quick to say "Its not real communism." This will never change. They will never accept that their ideology failed. They literally deserve 0 respect. I would respect them if they would own up to their failed attempts to install a communist regime that lasts but no. Imagine a Fascist saying that Italy or Germany during WW2 were not real fascist/national socialst countries.
@@there.9254 they were shooting at him from point blank and only 6 hit him so iam pretty sure most of them missed on purpose or shot him in non-vital organs intentionally Yeah really depressing I know
For those wondering why the other soldiers didn't escape with him. The Soldier's families would have been murdered and tortured to death or be very close to it. The soldier escaping most likely had no family i.e cousins parents or even friends because they would have all ben tortured.
Its because North Korea still uses one of the most severe punishments used by ancient China, the "kill nine families". Basically in ancient China if you commit a serious crime (e.g sexually assaulting the Emperor's family) then not only does your family gets executed, up to 9th related relatives gets executed. So your cousin's cousin's cousin's cousin's cousin's cousin's cousin's cousin's cousin's family gets executed and everyone in between. To put in context, every descendent of your ancestor living in the 18th century will get executed. So basically by defecting, you are literally risking a small genocide (if you have a large family). If you miss a couple shots, then maybe you get tortured for a couple weeks and small chance you get killed but that's about it, nobody else probably gets killed. People like him who defected either don't have any family (only child, both parents passed away) or they don't really have a good relationship with them. Its sad but it is also very effective in keeping people in North Korea.
Not their enemy. South Korea sees the North Citizens as their own people. Many familes were split because of the 38th parallel. This soldier probably had no family held hostage and was ready to risk it all.
leon Warner agree with comment above. Not the enemy. Many South Koreans have family that they have never met across the border. The border line was drawn by foreign soldiers with no care for the families they were tearing apart. North Koreans and South Koreans are all Koreans
That run he made must've felt like when you try to run like crazy in your dreams and you feel as if your body isnt catching up with you. Imagine the fear and adrenaline and all kinds of emotions he felt thinking any shot could be his death
On the other hand whenever you get such a dream, (try - very important) to think what it is you're running from. You'll suddenly find yourself dashing away at the speed of light and transit yourself into a lucid dream.
@@Oscar-mf4od I see. You know, once I had a very scary experience. I was trapped within a tunnel which I tried to escape, but the faster I flew to the exit, the further the exit kept going. I was stuck there for so long, it literally felt like years. And then I suddenly woke up, jumping out of my bed. The Astral Plane isn't really dangerous unless you stray too far off your physical body and of course stay away from entities that distort your perception. You've got to see why you are afraid, not of lucid dreaming, but at all. What gives birth to your fear? Is it even real fear or fear of being afraid? Those are thing you've got to figure out on your own. Meditate upon your Will, my friend. And some days we shall see one another in the Astral Plane. P.S whatever you imagine is whatever will happen, lucidity requires mind control. If you cannot control your thoughts, not suppress them, but steer your awareness (not focus) elsewhere. Good luck!
Update: the soldier had recovered from the fatal wound and the govt of south korea paid the entire medical fee for him. And several months later, he got caught for driving intoxicated.. 😢
Well...he’s gotta be taken back to NK so it’s more like 24hrs of freedom then sent back to NK for execution.. SK can’t keep him over there unless there’s some bigger reason. He can’t be tried there either I think. It’s sad but essentially he jumped the boarder for nothing...
@@Lurkai south korea has a law which states that any north korean citizen which flees north korea to south korea will be rehabilitated and become a south Korean citizen
Korean American here, from my experience most South Koreans don't see North Koreans as enemies. Sure, Kim Jong Un and the regime are definitely hated, but we don't despise the actual population. I mean, how could we? Countless families were ripped apart by the 38th parallel. North Koreans may be misguided, but they're still family.
Jesus Christ is King, Jesus Loves You, and Jesus has Risen and Christ reigns forever! If Kim Jong Un sees this, repent of your sins, and share the Gospel. Original Comment: When the enemy risked their lives saving you, shows how bad North Korea is.
I don't want to be rude but it says in the title that he escapes so that means he got away from North Korea to South Korea, he is alive, the title indicates it, so you don't have to be worried
*See how a human wants his own freedom facing an almost certain death is heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time. Thank you for your courage.* And we thinking that building my RU-vid channel is a big deal... perspectives!
@m c old revolutions are just legends. Now they give us shit to eat and we have to say: mmmmh it is good. Or you are just a hater for this pathetic, frail society made of cristal...
When you see someone risking his life coming possibly unarmed and wounded just to get in your land you must appreciate him, forgive him personally, and save him.
I've actually been fortunate enough to meet some South Koreans, and they honestly seemed like some of the most kind hearted people ever. It makes a story like this seem like something they'd do every time the opportunity arose.
Minkyy in North Korea the army has little to no training so if they aimed for the non vital origins they would probably end up hitting the vital origins and killing him just saying sorry for being a nerd lol
South Korea's policy is that every Korean is a Korean, north or south. I can't speak for everyone but as far as I know the only enemy in this situation is brainwashing and many SK's want reunification. If it weren't for how forcibly brainwashed the NK's are I believe Korea could become one again. It's a terrible situation, I have read many books written by defectors and there is so much more than you think there is.
@Geralt of Pimpland ???... I wasn’t even referring to this particular incident with South Korea. Everyone already knows they welcome most North Korean defectors with wide open arms. I was simply responding to the original comment that an enemy saving another enemy from death is not always a sign of them seeing the other as a “friend.”
Neon Wolf it’s totalitarian which is just communism but worse. Communism is rule by one party but totalitarian is rule by one person which is what North Korea is.
@@Shadow28TV I see it as this. They where at least 4 shooting at him, probably more just that you can't see all on the camera. They shoot at him, but not one bullet hits something that would make him die instantly? He was not far away from them. Maybe 1 of the soldiers tried to kill him, but I definetly do not see 4(or more) soldiers all missed that badly in that distance! (also it wasn't that much bullets that hit him) Maybe they where trained by stormtroopers, but I doubt that!
@@nein393 I know. But seeing how close they are from him and military usually also trains to hit moving targets as well as they are 4+ people with rifles. I do play GTA sometimes, but even I know it's not realistic. (I have shot rifles to test once upon a time. My brother was in the military and he took me to a firerange or what it is called, and yes, it was difficult to hit even a stationary target, but I am not trained) ;)
Godly _EditZ the south won’t kill him,South Korea considers North Korean citizens South Korean citizens and we will be able to live a happy life safely in South Korea.
It’s true, their familys will be slaughtered or forced into a camp for the rest of their lives. And if you have no family left, there’s nothing to lose if you try to escape, you’re not chained down.
This just makes me so grateful for my life and that I'm so blessed to be born in a country that is so good. Its so sad that these people cant experience what normal people have and at one point i thought about taking my own life because I hated mine, not knowing that there are way worse things happing around the world 😭....
Imagine you are the defector and u got shot then a South Korean soldier drags you and said:"don't worry you cross the board, you're free my brother". Damn
i feel little bad for the ones that shot him and didnt escape with him cause they are brainwashed and they had families i bet the ones who shot him are dead just because the fact that he lived. Edit: holy shit this blew up thank you kind strangers sorry if there are any grammar errors english is not my first language
@@JNR405 wdym thats the only thing north korea can do, they punish people for not agreeing with them, kim jong un killed his brother and uncle. They brainwash kids as soon as they start kindergarten by teaching them that kim jong un is good but he is bad and if someone disagrees, they are sent to death penalty
@@JNR405 Watch the documentary on Netflix you will see hell try the BBC on RU-vid. These people are really forced to make the elite happy at all cost. One thing is if one of your family members gets in trouble the arrest the entire family and throw them in a camp. 90% of the population has parasites in there body. Not only your starving but your being eaten from the inside.
no one will probably see this but I’d like to point out that although it is their jobs, those soldiers who pulled him to safety after he crossed were heroic to run toward the gunfire since 1min prior he was the enemy.. just goes to show you they must realize they are privileged themselves just for being born in the right place. And they showed compassion for an injured human no matter what uniform he was in. Something to take in.
I’m here getting mad that I can’t go to the movies, while North Korea literally has a law for certain haircuts... Edit: Lmao I couldn’t go to the movies cause I had to work, I was trynna go with some friends 😂 mystery has been solved
they are still at war you know that right? they never signed a peace treaty, they are free to shoot at each other whenever they want to continue their warfare but that would mean a point in the battle between them where it would increase
The South Korean soldiers were lucky those North Koreans had stormtrooper aim, otherwise it'd be a mess if a North Korean shot or worse, killed one of them because of trigger happiness.
Jose Rosales. Everyone’s problems are different, just because someone is reading this it doesn’t mean they’re blessed. While this guy’s life sucks, it doesn’t mean someone else’s life doesn’t suck just because they’re not going through the same thing.
@@Cynical496 at that distance, there were at least 4 shooters, he was critically wounded, but not shot in the places where he would instantly die. 4 soldiers wouldn’t have missed critical places on the body from that distance. They definitely missed some shots.
the soldiers that purposely missed their shots knew that if they escaped, their families would be tortured. Many are saying they should’ve ran with him, but they knew if they did, so many other would’ve suffered because of them.
I got chills seeing those two South Korean soldiers risking their lives to save him and drag him off to safety. It’s so scary but so brave an it had me in tears
Those South Korean soldiers are saints. The NK defector was literally leaving a trail of blood, they probably thought he might not make it, but they risked their lives for him anyways. I hope all three are being well taken care of by the South Korean government.
This makes me feel happy that i live in a place with freedom, people criticize america but sometimes they just don't know how lucky they are compared to other places like north korea..
@@World_Culture_Co . I'm just saying that the south Korean welcome the people crossing the borders while in America they send them to jail and put children in cages.
@@douglei4413 You know, I do agree that a lot of it is just irrationally harsh. They should give them proper beds and food/water and at least try to keep them comfortable while things get sorted. As for just letting people in and using discretion to determine which one's will be good and which one's will be bad, that doesn't work. I'm pretty sure it must be difficult to go through the legal way as they all seem to try to do it illegally. I don't know the answers but currently it's a pretty shitty situation. They are human though so they should be treated as such.
