What's going on everybody?!? SeanPierceJohnson here bringing you another sweet demo and review of a cool guitar from Reverend Guitars: the Airsonic W!
What is the Airsonic W? The Airsonic is a brand new design from Joe Naylor and Reverend that seeks to combine the big, resonant tones of a hollowbody guitar (or a semi-hollow) with the serious, beautiful sustain of the best solidbody guitars! It's an interesting new guitar design that is as unique to feel as it is to hear.

Hey Ivan! Thanks for checking out the song. It just didn't need a solo. I'm not one of those guitarists who insists on a solo in every song. If the song doesn't need one. As to the bass...there's bass in the recording but we didn't have a bassist when we made the music video. Our new bassist will be in the next music video. But we did have to give the bass tracks a bit of a "...And Justice For All" treatment. Our previous bassist was not very good.

i think what I enjoyed the most about it was how different it was from anything I owned already. just before I sent it back to Reverend, I recorded several songs for my band's upcoming record with it and it was a total "secret weapon".

I'm not buying that these two f-holes make any difference in tone in a solid body guitar at all, except maybe for a slight loss of mass...Unless a blind test is done using two identical guitars except for the f-holes, I find it hard to believe it....It sounds great though, but not because of those gimmicky f-holes.

It does sound great, I would chalk that up to the Korina and the pickups mostly. To me the "f-holes" are might make more difference to the tactile feel on your body. It's hard to get that to come across via RU-vid. But when I play this thing, I feel it in my body.

Firebird is neck-through which is very different from this bolt on. You can't say it "gets the sustain" for the same reason as a Firebird. Quite different construction.

Thanks! Yes I agree: unique but not strange. Too many builders think unique and strange are the same thing but they aren't.

That is a great sounding guitar. I find it hard to believe the holes make any difference to the tone. It would be great if they had one with no holes for comparison. I have a Reverend Double Agent OG and it's my go to guitar,

Reverend claims it really let’s the wings resonate. And when playing this guitar you can really feel it vibrating against your chest. It’s an amazing guitar.

outstanding review, Sir. question: how close can you get to a Strat sound with the neck pickup while using the bass contour and tone controls? i tried a Six Gun HPP was impressed that i could get 80% of the way to a Strat sound using the 9a5 pickups, but don't know about the Nuevo 90.

I'd love to see if a blues guitarist could get those warm bluesy tones out of the Airsonic W You did an amazing job with the Rock side of the equation.

Thanks. I don’t doubt that it would do very well. The pickups are very P90-ish. I’d say just roll down the tone knob to make it a bit darker and you’re golden.

@@SeanPierceJohnson Thanks for the tip and reply, I appreciate it! I have the Six Gun HPP arriving today and was thinking about swapping out an Ibanez AS153 for the Airsonic W. I am swapping my Fender GTX 50 out for a Blues Cube Hot. You’ve given more food for thought in the quest for tone. lol

They do make a version with a hard tail bridge. It’s not hipshot branded but it’s a hard tail.

I really, really want a Reverend I find them so cool looking , just wondering which model would be best for playing 80s-90s rock / metal. This model or perhaps the Warhawk DAW?

I'd probably go with the Warhawk since it has a Humbucker. The pickups in this guy are humbucker sized P90s. And though they sound good it wouldn't be my first pick for 80s/90s rock & metal

Great demo! I don't think the Humcutter pickups are actually single coils, though - they're just voiced to sound like P90s.

I wish they used these P90 pickups in the fixed bridge version. Not a fan of the railhammer humbuckers.

I feel totally hung to that guitar and I'm about to buy one, but should I ? ( I already have a Warhawk - with revtrons pickups - and I'm wondering if the sound is not going to be too similar... )

A brand new shiny coffe burst Airsonic has arrived at home just a few days ago, and ho my, how right you are... even on average amps like a microcube or a Frontstage you get no less twangs than a thinline, and she delivers such cristalline harmonics... it's a dream ! (I still have to find the right amp for this jewel). Maybe a Koch Jupiter ?
