Damn dude....breaking my heart in the middle of the day. I want to say he has nothing to be sad about but knowing and having had a similar state of mind but nowhere near the talent...all I can say is you put a lot of smiles on people's faces, know that.

Great way to put it. Similar mindset, nowhere near the talent. Im always impressed when I hear a younger individual express disappointment, but then tell himself he's gotta get back up.

@@cuffy7941 I mean it’s easy to shit on a historic program like Iowa in a super small sample size. But they are winners and always will be winners. That’s why the same 5 programs are always fighting at the top.

@@saljablo2767 you are right! But I do feel like the iowa style isnt always in the best interest of their athletes. It's great for the sport but they frequently send so many guys into these tourneys banged up and bruised. My biggest thing is the lack of emotional intelligence when it comes to Hawkeyes. From Gilman's to Metcalf they all wrestle with big chips on their shoulders and let their emotions get the best of them. Lee, kremer and eirman are the few that can just focus on the goal at hand and do what needs to be done. But they've always and will always be one of my favorite teams to watch. Iowa has patented the warriors mentality. Just need to figure out how to control that beast

@guyharris889
@guyharris889 2 года назад
I’ve thought about this a bit…. Couple things: 1. Iowa’s style of physicality is probably rough on the body after 5+ years - so towards end of seasons/careers - these guys are beat up pretty bad 2. They are prob in better shape pre-season and first half of season than most teams - but come March everybody is in great shape 3. I believe PSU in general is getting better athletes with higher ceilings than Iowa (example Marinelli - who I like and is a super tough wrestler- 4 timer - not many of those waking around- but compare him to Brooks/Ruth/Taylor/RBY, etc - so guys seem to be twice the athlete of a Marinelli - with side side movement, quickness, reaction, etc. The Bull is the Bull - he’s a train on a track with a great post double - but everyone knew it was coming and they figure him out and he couldn’t pick up another series that was effective- possibly bc he was limited to straight on power moves.

Alot of programs would love to be perennial top 5 in the nation.Sometimes has nothing to do with what program you wrestle for,but instead the best wrestlers winning. I'm hawk fan,but it became apparent we weren't as good this year.Before you dog the Program,don't forget first in the nation last season,and only had one ncaa champ,Penn state had 4.This season become apparent our team was getting old,and had ALOT of injuries!Spence knee,Kem shoulder,Eirman knee,Cass hands&fingers.This was the same group of guys,but there bodies were into 5 years ncaa wrestling,at the highest level.They came back to try to defend the championship they won last season.Penn State was the better team,and won nationals but didn't win BIGG ! Figure that one out! Its about health and having you're guys excelling at same time.Hawks clearly weren't! Time to re-load and see what we can do! As a coach you ask you're guys to represent the program with loyalty and pride,imo this team did so.GO HAWKS
