@@Ccinc6 Alicent is Dowager Queen. AKA Queen mother. You need to sharpen up that Game of Thrones knowledge 😂 Queen Regent is the title for the mother of an underaged king. Aegon is 19/20 so he is of age.
No dogs were harmed in the making of this episode. But I think maybe Helaena deserves more consideration, it's very easy to speculate about what you would do in a situation without actually having been in it. Helaena has the gift of prophecy, she already knew at the start of the episode that they wanted a boy (via audio that has no subtitles) and Cheese told her that if she lied he would kill not only one child but both as well as her. Add onto that the fact that she's neurodivergent and might not react to situations in a "normal" way.
Yeah like honestly I think it’s important to remember that the term is “fight or flight” and going non verbal and unconsciously being pushed to ‘flight’ is a perfectly reasonable thing to do in a severely traumatic moment like this, even for neurotypical people…
I honestly don't think she has it in her to lie bless her... I agree, in her mind if she lied, they would all die. She already knew something bad was going to happen so she told the truth and pointed to 'the boy'. Her reaction was absolute shock/terror mixed with a sad realisation that this was her vision. Then walks in on her mother with crispy so gets traumatised again 🤦♀️ extremely sad and very well played out by Helena imo.
@@jo0rd73 I believe the reactions are actually fight, flight, and freeze typically. We see both freeze and flight from her, I think it's helpful for people to realize that you have about a 1/3 shot of fighting in a traumatic situation so it's kind of the least likely thing for you to do.
Aegon was gettin drunk with like 4 of his guard, and Criston had his sword in the queen mothers sheath, so nobody was around to protect the queen. Criston was commander, so maybe he sends other guards away so he can smash the queen mother. who knows.
Aegon wasn’t getting drunk with guards, they were like his friends. One of them is a Reyne, the house the Lannisters killed in “The Rains of Castamere”. But I still think it’s nonsensical that there wasn’t a single guard posted outside the Queen’s room protecting her and her children. Criston is Alicent’s sworn sword, he’d likely send guards away from Alicent’s door, not Helaena’s. None of it makes sense 😭
He likely sent most of the guards to Guard the drunk king. Because Maegor's holdfast (the royal quarters) is the safest place in the castle, he felt he could send the guards focus on the kings protection down in the throne room.
@@lynnraven6101 i think Cole was supposed to guard Helaena's room and a different guard/guards were guarding alicents room. Earlier in the episode Otto looked like he knew what was up when Cole and alicent walked in the council meeting so he probably tried keeping them apart and Cole probably told the other guards to leave
@@StruckByBelz There’s a movie called scarlet bonds that time I got reincarnated as a slime And there’s a 3 part ova called visions of coleusand great video
It’s really weird to see so many reactions assuming Helaena was going to lie and give up her daughter to save the heir. She acknowledged that her son may not even WANT to be king. She was concerned about his routine/welfare/psyche. She seemed to be a loving mother, Period. So it would be impossible to choose one child to give up. She doesn’t care about preserving a bloodline. She’s just a mommy. Who loves BOTH of her kids. She told the truth because her daughter was of EQUAL worth to her as her son, and she knew they’d ALL die if she got caught trying to trick them. Wild how many people assume she’d throw her little girl away. She’s never been on that sh*t with her mom/granddad. She’s just a weirdo with special powers trying to live.
I still think she was trying to trick them, you see in her eyes. She doesn't know how to lie, Cheese saw that she was trying to bluff. She said that's the boy so the assassins would think she was lying and pick the girl. Cheese was just smarter, that's all. Even in the books, she choose Jaehaerys over Maelor
Also remember that the king tried his hardest to NOTA become king. I really don't blame him right now he just wanted to do his own thing and they forced him to be king.
Yeah like Aegon has done some horrific things (SA and betting on his own kids in the underground fight ring) but I do find it interesting how he is portrayed this episode. He seems like he’s trying to be a good person and king but isn’t sure exactly how to do that? Alicent’s mind has been a mess ever since she had to enter the ‘game of thrones’ so I can’t exactly blame her for not being a perfect mother for him either….when you’re a powerful as Aegon is it is very easy to disregard those beneath you which is why I find this episode of him trying to be a decent person to be extremely compelling.
@@anthonywilliams5475 The way I always see the show is that I am team Rhaenyra and team Alicent lmao. Alicent I especially have a soft spot for because the fandom imo is extremely biased because she messes up in protecting her children and trying to be happy while they simultaneously hail Daemon as a hero while he is being a horrific human being (love both btw but the contrast in reception frustrates me lol).
@jo0rd73 my favorite character was by far king vasarys. I'm so sad he won't be in this season. But for now my favorite character is probably rhanese ( I know I spell the names wrong)
@@anthonywilliams5475 I agree, she is so compelling in terms of the narrative and the actress blows me away every major scene she has. In the like two minutes of this episode I was glued to the screen when she appeared to take with Daemon. Given the type of show this is and what we know of the Targaryen civil war from GOT I think almost all of them will die horribly and I’m gonna be so sad to see her go….
You say a misunderstanding but Alicent heard what she wanted to hear. She know d*mn well the king would never turn on her. Literally the night before he questioned why people were still discussing settled successions. Come on now People who make excuses for the greens are so delusional.
In the books they also told Helaena if she wasnt fast with choosing a kid they would rape her daughter and afterwards kill all the kids. And daemon knew about this. He was the one who ordered them to kill Helaena's son if they didnt find Aemond.
the dragon prince lucerys had was rhaenyra's dragon offspring, so at the beach scene when rhaenyra was cry and the dragon roared it was two mother's mourning the death of their children.
Mel was questioning the queens reaction but we have to remember she is autistic and perceives things differently. It’s possible she didn’t even realize how dire the situation was until they were about to behead the son. Targaryen dreamers have metaphoric dreams, there’s always a double or triple meaning and I’m sure she couldn’t perceive her dream fully. It’s possible she seen the rats in her dream but couldn’t tie it to these men.
That’s my understanding as well; that perhaps reality & her prophetic dreams are blurred together, she’s confused & in shock “reliving” that moment again. Earlier, in her first scene, Helena was laboring over her son’s funeral shroud-she has a little knowledge of what’s going to come & she seems to be oscillating between reality & her dragon dreams. Maybe during the Blood& Cheese moment, she was overcome with fear /shock knowing what’s going to happen & her trauma response in identifying the heir is because she already know it’s going to come to pass.
Do you guys remember when Daemon sliced open Vaemonds head? Remember Helaena's reaction? She instantly covered her ears , closed her eyes and turned around. Didn't scream at all, didn't even gasp it seemed. She is not one to scream. She disassociates. Here, before she instinctively disassociated, she made sure to get her daughter to her grandmother, didn't even notice or care about Criston, sat on the floor in the corner and called her beheaded son "boy". That is definitely disassociating.
Salute to y’all. I think Cregan definitely knows about the white walkers. His body language and choice of words hints he knew and Aegon must have told Torrhen stark about the prohecy and convinced him about the threat. Somewhere along the way it wasn’t taken as serious. The wall at these times were no joke and wintefell and castle black was truly a powerhouse
Rape to us is not the same equivalent to what it was in this universe and back in these times. Especially when you are royalty with the given notion that you can take whatever you want and even more you are a teenager with parents who did NOT show you love and attention. So yout conscience is likely to lack. Rhaenyra took advantage of Criston Cole. Because she had the power and the given notion that she can take whatever she wants. Who is going to say NO to a prince or princess? Aegon is NOT a full on bad person. He is more in the gray area.
@@Shiera_Seastar_: She did take advantage of Criston Cole. Even if he wanted it he couldn't say no if he wanted to. He literally broke his oath because he wanted her. It was consensual. But when you are in the position of power and push someone to break a oath that could result in their head being put on a spike? You are clearly taking advantage of the power you have over someone. He literally tried to stop himself from going for it. There is no BS. If I hurt your sensitive feelings with facts then keep it to yourself. I am not here to dry your tears.
every reactor ive watched missed the part where daemon said to cheese that if they cant kill aegon, to do/kill someone else and it cut when he was about to say it
I have seen 1 that figured it out quick. LM Reactions. I had high expectations for them cause they usually pick up on a lot of nuances and they did not disappoint. Check them out, their reactions are amazing.
RU-vid has plenty of non spoiler summaries of season 1 of house of the dragon. I think itll help personally if you guys woild catch up with the last season before jumping into another especially when years pass, remembering all these details off the top of your heads is tough, and itll help with not speculating and grasping at straws, just a quick 20-30 minute youtube video or less
You guys remember when the Rat Catcher asked Daemon “what happens if they can’t find Aemon” and it cut off at Daemon’s answer? Them k!lling the younger boy was probably what he told them to do.
There is something in the air that makes 90% of reactors brains stop working when that part comes up. I've only seen 1 reaction channel figure out straight away that the pause on Daemons face meant something.
@@Koko-gp6vn give me the link to that. I have not seen this saying anywhere. Plus, professional directors know how to convey information. Amateurs will do one thing they say they meant to convey another. Are you saying this directors don't know how to direct a story?
the writers pulled a bit of dramatic sleight-of-hand on us. early in the episode daemon told rhaenys "a son for a son". at the grisly climax, one "rat-catcher" reminded the other "a son for a son, HE SAID." while discussing the job, the other "rat-catcher" asked "what if we can't find [aemond]?" but the scene ends without daemon's answer. the writers didn't want to spoil the ending by giving us daemon's answer, but the clues are there.
Team Green is NOT my ilk but I gotta speak up for Helaena, she's on the spectrum AND it seems like she can't always tell when she's having a vision or when it's real. That's why she gasped after she went down the stairs and then changed direction, she realised it wasn't a vision and ran to her mom, saying "the boy", she might be trying to block out the trauma of the situation she found herself in by dissociating and if she HAD tried to fight, she might've gotten herself and both kids killed, its unfortunate but picking one was the best solution for them especially because there was no one who COULD come to their aid after Larys purged the Red Keep staff and the Kingsguard were in the Throne Room Rhaenyra did lose the baby last season, it was a girl. She currently has 4 sons left, two brown-haired Velaryons and two Targaryens. Daemon has two daughters, the eldest Baela is betrothed to Jacaerys and the youngest Rhaena was betrothed to Lucerys
Did you guys not rewatch S1 (or at least watched the last few episodes) before starting this? Absolutely clueless. Rhaena is Rhaenyra’s daughter? Lmfao
Someone was saying she's pretty much like Brandon Stark once he became the three-eyed Raven. He didn't have any feelings for any of the siblings showed no emotions and I believe she's somewhat of the same thing. She could see the future in the past. I just don't think she knows how to control it to express it
Hes not a bad guy :D dude is raping the whole castle . Remember season 1 ? and look at the woman when he walks in looking for his child . They are frozen :D. but ye :D
That guy conspiring with aegon and the other kings. He's just like littlefinger on game of thrones. He's already doing it for himself. I don't really think he has a side. He chooses. I think at the end of the day it's going to come down to doing something with him to get a higher position or something like that
Rhaenys had the shot to take out Aegon, but as she said, it wasn't her war to start. She couldn't have predicted that Luke would be killed as a result of her decision to not kill Aegon and the Greens.
Rhaenyra has 5 boys, the eldest 3 are brunettes and the youngest 2 has silver hair with daemon and she lost her “daughter” in the last episode. And daemon has 2 daughters with his second wife, the daughters are betrothed to Rhaenyra eldest 2 sons.
Did you put quotations on daughter because the thing that came out of her looked like a dragon-human hybrid? Which is what Mirri Maz Duur described Daenerys's child to look like, just without the wings.
i dont know if you guys are aware i saw u call alisont mother in law for halaena but haleana is her daughter as well. aegon and haleana are siblings who were wed
Rhaenyra has 6 children: 3 with black hair from Harwin Strong, 3 with silver hair from Daemon. 2 of them died in ep 10 of last season. Visenya (from Daemon) died from childbirth & Lucerys was killed by Vhagar
Actually Rhaenyra lost her unborn daughter, she had a still birth so as of right now she has 4 children, all boys who are alive. But she lost a daughter and a son.
Sending the son was not a bad idea. Literally nothing would have happened if Aemond wouldn't have been there or if he could control himself. The other son can came back just fine. Age has nothing to do with the task or him being a kid. The king is a kid. 🙃
Rheanyra's husband is someone who ha beating messengers with his helm, who has threatened to mutilate Otto while he was a messenger that same day. It was stupid to think that only her husband has the ability to do illegal things.
