As my father sat motionless in hospice care for 10 days my sister came in... broken completely because as much as we all have a varied relationship with him... she was his twin. Alzheimer's is a terrible disease... one which robs a person of their thoughts... their memories. The lights were on that day she came in, but she knew no one was home. Willie Jacobs was gone. She played this song for... you know, was about to say she played this song for him, but honestly as I look back to that day... I think she was playing this song for herself. Letting him know that she will love him for her life. Damnit I miss my daddy... 7:57AM... May 11, 2022 a part of me died. And there is no space or time that will ever replace that...

I was there in the East Village long ago and heard him sing this live tears ran down my face non stop , definitely one of the greatest soul singers ever to exist . RIP Donny you inspired so many

I love Donny Hathaway. I don't care how many times I have listened to this song, it still makes me cry. It's simply Beautiful.

Leon Russel a white musician married to a black woman wrote this amazing song but Donny took it to unreachable heights like Whitney did with Dolly Partons song “ I will always love you” We are all brothers on this earth , so sad we don’t act like it.

A couple of weeks before my beloved husband passed away of a sudden heart attack he sang this song to me while we were chilling on the patio. It will forever be sweet sorrow for my shattered heart to hear but it feels like he's right here beside me everytime. Until we are reunited in heaven, my love... ❤

Recall the year 2001 when I about to deliver my last born and had heavy labour pains and my ex husband was not there to bare the pain, I listened to this track and tears were running from my eyes down my chins and when I was to be in labour ward . I only remember life is not life without God and I turn my headphones off and made a short prayer for my life and the life that I need to bring on this Earth. Thank you , thank you God for rescued us and I gave birth a baby boy. Thank you Don't for sharing your gift to many soul and uplift those were lost and down like me shalom.

I really discovered this song the year my brother in law passed. Cancer robed him of his golden years. He had just retired from a job he worked at for over 40 years, which is where he developed that horrible disease. After that long period of time the only have him a certificate of 40 years that he had to request. I was there for him everyday for the last 2 years of his life. I went to the treatments. Tried to get him whatever he needed when he was in need. The last 2 weeks of his life drained him soo much. He could barely walk, barely breathe, and had no appetite. This once strong man had been reduced to someone fragile because of that disease. He knew he was going to transition that day so he said his goodbyes to the friends that came by, which was not that many and told us to keep living. He and I went to just tolerating each other in the beginning 21 years ago to fully embracing one another as brothers in the end. I still cry sometimes when I think about him because I feel that he should still be here and I think about the lost time we could've connected more. He's been gone for 4 1/2 years now as of 2024. My brother, not my brother in law.

As much as Donny was loved, and is still loved he remains underrated. A true artist who needed no gimmicks, just a piano, his voice and a bit of your time to mesmerize. He was one of the best. Pure honest music as it should be. He left us all wanting more, the great ones always do.

Grateful Donny ever existed to sing so beautifully.

My father just died this week. I’m up tonight, listening to all the songs that he loved. My father died from COVID-19.

A tortured soul, a gifted and talented artist, a father, a kinsman. His music said it all. His legacy will never die. Rest in peace my brother. Your lifetime was brief...its impact indelible.👑🎤🎹

My father transitioned 5/2/23. He was my best friend. We had a special bond through our love of music, books and learning, and just an understanding of each other that only a parent and child could have. He was my protector, a support, always just a call and a drive away. I love you Dad, and I'm so glad God made you mine. Forever we will be ❤ I'll see you again. Tell our loved ones I said hi 😢❤
