I played the demo for this game back in 2020, and I've been waiting ever since. It's surprisingly hard to do gameplay demos of these kinds of games since you want avoid spoiling anything, but also the story is kind of the whole game.
A Space for the Unbound is a narrative-centric adventure game from Mojiken, the studio that did When the Past was Around. The game centers around Atma and his girlfriend Raya, going on adventures in 90s Indonesia with a bit of a supernatural twist to it. It's all very Life is Strange if you've ever played those games. The plot is charming and grounded in the main cast (not featured here) and I just love how local the town feels. I unfortunately do not know the first thing about Indonesian culture or cuisine so some of the nuance might be lost on me, but I've really enjoyed running around this small town talking to all of the characters. The game also just looks and sounds nice. The soundtrack is just all vibes and there is a joy to the the pixel art style.
I haven't finished it yet, but it feels like the game is probably a comfortable 8-15 hours of story and for those looking for a new narrative adventure game, it's easy to recommend this one.
But at the end of the day, none of that matters compared to the fact that YOU CAN PET AND NAME ALL OF THE CATS. I care about nothing else other than my eternal quest to find and pet every cat in this game.
