Hmong parents or family do not believe NOR seek for professional help, perhaps these Modern days I hear and know many many young adults and teenagers especially new generations are committing suicide, having depression and anxiety because lack of love, attention interaction and communication. A good lesson to learn from. Purpose, love, success, family, laughter, happiness, passion. All those things contribute to a full life. Money certainly helps but it cannot buy health, real love, cure loneliness. You do have to have connection, heart to heart conversations with people, a reason for living, a larger vision of your life.
Your family only talked and cared about money. Money cannot buy time, happiness, love, and/or health. Money could only buy materials. Don’t judge others by their financial status. A simple life may be the happiest life. A parent’s financial status does not define their children’s behaviors. Parenting plays a big role in children’s lives. Buying kids things and giving them money will not create memories that lasts forever. Spending time with kids is the memory that will always stay with kids. As long as your bills are paid and you have food on the table then you need to enjoy your time with your love ones.
This is similar to my story. I thought I'm the only person struggled about family affairs. It is truth that money can't buy happiness and it can't make we success.
To the owner of the story - you are still very ignorant to think poor families have children who are gangsters and do drugs --- you still failed to see that so many amazing and powerful men and women grew up in poor working class neighborhoods but are now Justices, doctors, surgeons, powerful attorneys, CEOs, etc... you may sound like you realized money cannot buy happiness etc... but your way of thinking has not changed at all because you still judge your son in law and his family and money is still your idol.

Money is not everything. You have one thing but you don't have another. Just because you don't have money does not mean that you can not be happy!!! To me , having my family together, their health, love, and myself are very important to me but not money.
Kids always want the attention from their parents or just spending time. My family we always sit and eat as a family. Simple things means a lot to kids.

I’m blessed to be able to pick jobs I want to work at. I pick jobs/careers where I can be there for my child, be able to take time off to be with my child, be home during my child’s vacation, yet I am able to provide/love/support/live in the moment with my child. I’m not making banks, but I’m living comfortably.

Money can't buy everything, but imagine the stress the daughter would be in if the parents were having financial hardships. Just because you don't have money doesn't mean you have good family values. Sometimes poor families are worst, always talking about being broke. Or talking about how this or that can't be afforded. Good family value is where it's at, regardless of money.

The daughter had severe depression. Its not related to $. Thats why rich n famous people turn to drugs behave erratically n commit suicide. Many people think that just telling their kids/family to snap out of it will solve the problem but in reality they need meds therapy acceptance n support.
