Hopefully you will grow more good food than you can eat and can. That is what we did when I was growing up. We had a garden that could feed the whole community and we gave away and traded as much as we could and everyone ate good all winter. Great job Mike and Liz.
If you're planting pole beans (climbers), grow them with your corn. They'll climb the corn stocks and the plants are mutually beneficial to each other.
Hi from The Salish. Looking great. No expert, but I've had successful victory gardens. I think this is perfect for your cold weather stuff, like cabbage & lettuce. But I think your corn should be thinned. And it's looking so great. My experience is their roots are too shallow, so they'll compete for nutrients at the surface of your box.
if you wish to raise the raised beds in the greenhouse, you might want to use rigid foam and plastic to insulate the side walls. If you plan on putting a heater on the floor, then you may want to insulate and put a solid floor. Wood chips are nice but not very compatible with a floor heater. A solid floor might make it harder for mice to enter. 👍
Yes it is very very early for vegtables and so just be patient . You might want to look at the almanac which will tell you what and when to plant in Idaho so you are planting the right things best for your area.
I'm on norther Ontario Canada so my climate is cold .my cabbage and kale , grows well with LOTS of compost . I don't think you could use too much compost and long as it's aged.
Ya'll have it going on in the raised beds, but I'd turn the greenhouse into an AirBNB...lol 😂😅 Conduit and plastic makes great greenhouses for the raised beds, the season lasts only so long. The wood, time, and labor involved in your greenhouse, is more than water, mildew, and rot can stand. Love ya'll ❤️
i have grown many pineapple plants and i sent most of them to friends all over the United States. i have had some that looked as rough as yours and almost all of them survived.the centers would die out but they will produce new plants from the roots around the plants base. you might know all this including the fact that they take 2 plus years to pproduce a pineapple and they only produce one. my plants became very big.
Hi guys, any brassicas especially Brussel sprouts need to have well rotted manure but most of all the ground has to be very firm and stone free, just another tip when and if you have picked your first picking of sprouts best after your first frost,do not remove the sprout plant as it will give you a second crop of small cabbage like heads just not as firm as your first picking but equally as tasty, hope this helps.❤
get some magnesium (epsom salt) it will make the peppers and tomatoes and squash get thick walls. cabbage needs time to grow start them early and plant them when they are 6 inches high
Your garden beds are still very new, the soil will develop over time; so you will need to keep feeding it organic matter. The mushrooms mean your soil is improving because of them, leave them alone and don't dig up the soil anymore, go no-dig.
WHAT'S GOING ON GUYS, GREAT VIDEO. DO YOU GUYS NOT HAVE ANY DEER OR LOCAL ANIMALS TRY AND GET TO THE GARDEN AREA? WE HAD TO BUILD A 6FT FENCE EVEN WITH OUR LIVESTOCK DOG THEY WERE STILL STEALING OUR CROP.
