Come along with me while we go walking on the old Tidewater Tonopah rail line, on a quest to find the spur of Jenifer. Frank Jenifer is not forgotten to time as Jenifer is named after him.

Also I use the wrong word for the railroad spike. My ADHD sometimes mixes words up & I usually catch things like that in editing, but missed it this time. Sorry about any confusion.
Frank Jenifer is instrumental in many aspects to bring Death Valley to life. Not a whole lot has changed since the desert decided to market itself as a destination area.
Jenifer was a spur on the Tidewtaer Tonopah Railroad, which has been gone since 1942-3.
Mr. Frank Jenifer worked on the TTRR (Tonopah Tidewater Railroad) as a freight agent.

Really enjoyed your desert video Jenni. Wished you could have found the railroad spur of Jenifer and some remnants of the buildings. I love old things and history that are not famous. Your stories of the railroad and why it was there and where it was going and carrying, brings all that to life. I'm sure times were hard back then and lack of food and water made it even harder. I hope you do more video's like this. Thank you for taking your spare time to record and share it.

Thanks Glen. 💜 we think that was the spot. I wasn’t able to figure out if either of those markers told me anything other than sea level. 80 years And super close to the actual town of Amargosa, it’s crazy there’s like barely anything. We saw so many makeshift target practices though....

I would love to be on the Jennifer railroad line on a long trip with Jenni we could stop in every town along the way so she could take her videos and post them everyday. But I would make sure it would take a lifetime just to keep Jenni happy everyday because her smile is like looking at a beautiful sunrise and even more beautiful when you see the sunset so that train would go on forever until the end of time

The day has finally settled down, I can now enjoy your video. Thanks for the trip down the old railroad, yes one of the commenters said that speaker and glass my have come from an old TV, maybe so, did you find anything else because there would have been a metal chassis where the tubes and capacitors as well as wires should be. Too bad you didn't bring a metal detector with you, it can find a lot of cool things. Really nice video Jenni, very informative. 👍👍👍👍👍❤🇺🇸

Glad you enjoyed it, this one challenged me lol. I don't think I found anything that looked like that. definitely no cage of a tv. I don't have a metal detector...yet LOL who knows what God will drop in my lap. Hope you are doing good & the VA isn't giving you too much grief. Have a great week!

The survey marker at 4:35 is designed to set up a theodolite over. It would be positioned so that the centre was vertically above the point where the dash goes through the line on the survey marker. The concrete reduces the movement of the survey marker. You want all the measurements to be taken from the same point for more accurate measurement.

It was a station, which might not haver been used much. It also had a spur that might have paralleled the main line. That shiny stuff might have been stuff from the fireboxes of the locomotives. Track nut to hold the rails together. It was not a vertical tie, but a telegraph/telephone pole.

Great video and with all those rocks you could get some and have the kids paint someup and then when you go on your adventures leave them in different areas I have seen some people paint positive words like love, faith, hope etc and leave them or just plain decorate them and people do leave them in odd spots for others to find

Thanks. That was good. The box around the marker was a form. A form is wood made to pour the cement into to harden then you take it off. Thats how my dad made our cement pool. Did you get your surgery? You look an sound good. Hope everything is fine.

ok that make sense. Like pouring ceramic molds, it's just not fine art they were dealing with. I get surgery this Tuesday 2.8. It is minor & it's going to smooth like butter.

Hi Jenni the adventurer at 13. area where you found the telegraph pole and rail ties some what looked like hand laid rock ?? And close to rail bed and there was a can dump might have been a whistle stop.But hard to say .p.s. thank you for the tag along .🏆🚂

@@JenniGives Hello again in the video you said spur.and what you showed from the wall says 3 spur's a spur means a off shoot like a siding off main tracks which could mean the whistle stop like a depoe or town is actually off to the side left or right so look for a rail bed off where some more tracks went to 🚂⛏️Hope this helps a little .p.s. in my area there are old spurs and the names go to the spurs off main line .🤔the more you read this the easier it will be .Hope this gets you on the right track 🤗🚂

I wonder what that melted glass is we always find by old mines ?! It always seems dark green or brownish and sometimes you see it amongst old fire bricks like some kind of smelter ? Someone said it was something added to burn the impurities out of the ore to get the gold or silver out, and often you’ll see huge piles of the stuff all bubbled and blistered

Kiln glass was a by product of borax. A part of borax can be used for ceramics, so it is almost glazed. Most pieces I have seen though are grey and blueish. I was impressed Mary knew immediately the glass was burned. I just thought it was that color to start. Makes sense to add something to take out the impurities. So many details.

Cool stuff once again! That glass you found near the speaker frame is part of a 1950s to 60s TV set! And I bet the speaker frame was in the TV. I see tire tracks here and there,are vehicles allowed on the old RR right of way? Might be a cool thing to take my new bike on it and cover a lot of it. O and the markers there are a few different types of those and you can look them up! Someone here in Indiana found one mounted vertical in a concrete fence post. Only one I have ever seen like that and not sure why it was done that wayasthey are usually used to set a surveyor transit above. And have to be flat on the ground to do that.

Ha! That cup was from the 50’s A 50’s burn pile 😉😅 who woulda thought. Yes people drive out there. I don’t think the rail line is completely drivable. I know its washed out in spots.

@@JenniGives I thought one of the rocks I found was a meteorite once I got a hold of UNLV and they assured me just by the geographic location that it couldn't be I was shocked that they could do such a thing oh they looked at the picture Turns out meteorites are extremely rare you're more likely to stumble across a golden nugget ... But if it does stick to magnet maybe it's something else I've got a bunch of obsidian if you want to compare
