What a menagerie you have now - it keeps growing and growing and growing! It was so cool to watch the parade of kitties, doggy and Toby as you strolled down the lane - take a few steps and they be-bopped along, loved it! Enjoy your time at the beach. Much blessings to all of you. :)
Here in the states they have herds of goats for rent to clear out weeds in certain areas !! They erect a portable movable fence around the goats and put a donkey in with the goats to protect them ! Really fascinating to watch !
Yes, I'd love a goat! I'm just not sure our fencing would be good enough, but who knows, it may be on the cards after we finish the build and have more time
@theirishhomestead if you can get a larger goat, such as a white British Saanen, your fence may be sufficient, especially if you put in an extra strand of wire low to the ground.
Just love your videos, your hard work, all the animals, music, and such a lovely family. So enjoyable watching the updates and the specials midweek ! ❤👏🏼
Sam, you’re doing such a massive job… well done. Bec, I love the rabbits addition. The way you take care of the animals, especially Toby, is priceless. I also love your editing style. Enjoy family time out at the beach 🏖️
Thank you!! 😊 me too. Life is easier & less dangerous for my poor legs now. The abnount of times I caught myself on the barbed wire whilst climbing over!
I have so enjoyed watching your efforts to restore the cottage and outbuildings. You are such decent hard working people, and it shines through in your videos. We are all cheering you on !
The build is coming along nicely guys and great to get this done while the weather is warm and dry. Every morning when we head of on our morning walk with Rooney, the cats come along too, great to see other people have cats that love walkies🤣
Awww so glad you are having a beach trip you truly deserve a break glad Toby now has his gate and well done on all the hard work your animals and pets are so lucky to have you tc now all luv from the oldies 🤗🤗🤗🤗👍
Hi guys. I sent you an email this morning, when it became apparent what sort of a day it was going to be. The rest of the day was similarly frustrating and nothing happened according to the plan. Dear God, I hope tomorrow goes better. Big day planned. But, once that’s squared away, I’m manning the mixer, or hauling buckets, or otherwise being useful. That’s a promise.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the end result, but enjoying watching it happen bit by bit too. Much easier to watch than do! You're both doing a fabulous job in every way. 🙂
Yay for a beach trip! Toby is looking good. You're giving him such a better life! It looked like he was out for his morning walk :) Ring beam time! So very exciting!
Sam you may want to run a 2x4 a long the bottom of your outside form flat up against the bottom of the osb tap con it down to the stone to keep the bottom of your ring form from kicking out !
Love the progress, love the hard work. Me and my daughters 15 and 16 are avid watchers. I only showed them the channel a few weeks ago and they started at the start and have caught up finally this weekend. They are big into donkeys and big into building(minecraft) enthusiasts . All our love to this channel
I used to have 5 donkeys , 2 came from another place, but they all got on well together, jennys and jacks, no fighting even stable all together, just do it slowly for Toby ,
My male donkey moved in very happily with my neighbours female donkey when his older companion died. They are like an old settled couple together now for about 8 years. I would never separate them.
Hi Sam and Bec just wondering are you going to put glass between old house and the new lounge room as I have seen it done on an old house that had new building and it looks so good. Love watching your work as you see progress every time I watch your new video. You are both such hardworking family with all the storms ⛈️ you keep on going , I take my hat 🎩 off to you guys.
I enjoy watching your videos. Just out of curiosity : I didn't see you install rebar for the ring beam. Was it forgotten or did you skip it on purpose? I've watched several other videos of similar renovations and they always put in rebar before pouring the ring beam concrete. Happy to see all of your happy animals 😊
Sam I truly don’t know where you get your energy and strength from. You are amazing. You are doing Trojan work and you are so knowledgable. Yourself and Becca and the children are going to have a stunning home when you are finished. I love your “ super ranger outfit”😂😂😂😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️❤️. Toby looks so good, it’s great that he has a gate. He will get used to it. He looks so happy now and he is so used to you. ❤️❤️❤️
I have been waiting all day for this video. My heart melted when I saw Toby and Nell and the cats escorting you and Toby on your walk. Great progress from earlier this week.
Just want to say: You guys are without a doubt one of the hardest working couple on you tube, but you are also compassionate ,caring, open and honest and should be applauded. As a Donkey lover I appreciate all you do for Toby he will love company, if you cannot find another Donkey think about a Goat, they do get on together, the only issue will be secure fencing. Love the channel.
Aww thank you Andrew. That's very kind and so lovely to read. I'd love a goat in the future. To be able to produce my own goals cheese & honey is my ultimate goal.
Thanks for doing so much for Toby. He is obviously so happy to have found you and your family. I hope that you can find a friend for him. The house is really coming along well. ❤
I loved your introduction with Toby, pup & two cats. All you needed were the chickens. Thank you for taking such good care of Toby. I look forward to a partner for him.
Hahaha 😄😄What a difference an article of clothing can make. Now Sam can groove as he works. The dungarees look so comfortable and you both look great! 🥰🥰
I wouldn’t worry about Toby being lonely now because he hasn’t got a fellow donkey,he already seems to be thriving in the midst of your cute family 😊It’s so lovely to see how contented and connected the animals are to you and each other. If they find a suitable donkey and Toby takes to them, that’s a bonus. Great progress.
Whaheey. Loads of progress in a week guys, and Toby has a short cut ! . Youre coming on in leaps and bounds , that's the advantage of being young and fit. Shuttering for ring beam looks great , its going to tie everything in nicely . Have a great week . .
Toby looks so healthy since you have had him your build is looking good making a good job not having much luck with the weather Ireland i always think about you two when the weather report comes love all your animals beautiful
Good evening Bec’s and lovely family 😍 I’m not saying Toby is stealing the limelight of fantastic videos but he is cute ☺️ You can now take your videos off for adults only now Sam has some dungarees lol 😂 I’m sure when the concrete is pored it’ll be awesome 🙌🏼 Have a great week love Stevie ❤xx
Yes, thanks. He is much better bit has gone a bit wary of my getting close recently which is frustrating. Hopefully I'll get his trust back eventually.
That opening scene in this video is amazing. You have four species of animals interacting in such a peaceful and tranquil place. You have Rebecca (human) leading Toby (Donkey) along a bóithrín in lovely Leitrim. Followed by the two cats who seem to want to stay connected to Rebecca and Toby. And then you have that collie who like any good collie seems to be protecting his family. And then you have the foxgloves on the side of the road to frame the view. Isn't Ireland so stunningly beautiful at this time of year.
Hi guys another amazing update, what your doing to bring this house back into use is inspiring, we moved over from the UK 2 years ago and still waiting for planning to extended the in laws house as there are 8 of us in a 3 bed bungalow. There are so many properties like this around Ireland I don't understand why the councils are not taking these and doing what your doing and making them an affordable family home, we are north of Dublin just down from Dundalk, but love the Irish lifestyle and love seeing all the work your doing. Keep going and yeah we found Yorkshire tea in Newry lol and pork pies
@@theirishhomestead yep sainsbury in Newry if you ever get time or have friends popping down, small multi packs with pickle , and large ones for those occasional summer days to go with a salad and further into Newry there's a B and M as well
Yep! Sam and Ben have endless energy and are working very hard, day after gruelling day! But that’s what we do for our families, isn’t it!?! I’m glad you got your new “overalls” (as we call them in Aus.) I was concerned about Sam getting chills in his kidneys and lumbar area! Toil on fellow homemakers. I’m really loving your videos! Hope it helps to pay off your handmade home!❤️😊🇦🇺🦘
Can’t have it glooping out lol that’s going to become my favourite word , looking good you two your progress on this part of your home is amazing I look forward to watching the rest of your Irish homestead journey xx❤😊
Started working life as a gardening apprentice, was orginally supplied with full overalls, once I realised that I could get dungarees love them even now 44 years later.
Don't worry about the waves or dips in the wall. It was hand built and will be beautiful when your done. Toby seems chill, you just never know. The dog and tabby cat seemed interested in the rabbits and hedgehogs. Hope you enjoy your time at the beach.
You might try putting ax padded blanket on Toby and see if the cat would ride on him. Donkeys do make attachments with other animals. I saw a donkey online once that had a chicken for a friend. The chicken would roost in the barn with the donkey and ride on his back occasionally. A friend is a friend. Nice overalls! Now THAT is what I call a post hammer! 3 of the most important inventions...duct tape, velcro, and super glue! Rabbits and Guinea Pigs? What next? Lol!
I'd love to see an animal on his back! I'm not sure we are quite there, though yet. Hmm now what is next....that's a good question! Not sure yet. Watch this space. 🤣
Guinea pigs!!❤❤❤ So jealous of all your animals! Especially the guineas! Beautiful opening to the video, loved it. It’s all coming along rather nicely isn’t it? It won’t be long now until you get a roof on so exciting!
Aww yes the guinea pigs and rabbits are so cute. I love the noises when I'm bringing food out. I absolutely cannot wait until the day that roof is on! 🤪
Oh no way, sorry to hear that, Sam. Backs are so susceptible to many issues, inam in the club too. Old rugby damage. But life goes on, be thinking of you both x
Do what adoption centers do; do a foster care. Maybe someone has too many or the Donkey Sanctuary has too many and needs a place for one to stay even temporarily. Who knows something may work out.
