I'm used to the word 'clear' through the perspective of trained professionals, they'll use a variety of tactics to open doors, locked or unlocked, but they rarely stand in the open doorway where they are vulnerable.. but after a rewatch it may have come to my attention that this was a cutscene, and if that is the case then there is really nothing you, as the player, can do about it.

opening the door from the side, lockpicking the door, using small explosives to blast any locks off (or the door itself), and using breachers to break open the door.

oh i just realized how he died, hear those clicks at 9:46? those were the sounds of the protagonist pulling the trigger but didn't shoot because of 2 reasons: 1. he's an idiot and forgot to turn the safety off, 2. he's an even BIGGER idiot and forgot to cock the gun

i think the ending is you getting shot by the fed (CTF) (i think CTF is ATF cause acronym looks the same) cause you we're holding a gun and pointing and a federal agent and tried to commit first degree murder on a officer, the first DM is caused you trying to shoot at that agent but you failed, the gun was not loaded with a mag or it is loaded with a empty mag or... it is not cocked (chambered)
