This is so sad and unfair. So many beautiful animals are hit by cars. Cities and woods must be safe equally for the humans and animals, safe minimum speed, green corridors and green bridges, etc.
This is my 1st time watching this video right after finishing the whole book. This is exactly what I'm imagining while reading. I love you, Bob, I'm so glad to know your story with your owner. Rest in Peace in Heaven. You will be forever remembered. And to James Bowen, if you may be reading this, I want to thank you for sharing Bob with us. I'm from another country, and it is so good to know that even though I'm very far from London, Bob reached my heart. Thank you for giving him all you can. May you be prosperous in your life. Very sad to hear Bob has passed away. Condolences to James. It is remarkable that Bob's passing made the TV news here in UK! Bob taught many people about compassion. Even a cat can teach us!
I wish cars would have sensors for tiny animals or if not, for those who have microchips... I was just a little bit angry for how they lied that they were having "technical issues" and they have to cancel their live session when at that moment Bob was already missing since Saturday night...if they had only told the truth that Bob was missing, people who knew Bob would definitely help find him... I really don't know what to believe for I don't trust James at all... I don't like him using Bob to ear money in the first place.

@@louiep432 Yes, my thoughts exactly. The official narrative on how Bob died does not make sense to me. Immediately after he died, James set up a GoFundMe fundraiser for Bob's memorial! And up until now, there are no concrete plans on how to get this done even though the target has been reached. I think there is too much coverup going on now...
Can't believe that someone once accused James of drugging Bob. That is the cruelest accusation ever and someone who has had such an awful history of battling drug addiction would never wish that on anyone, even an animal. If you've read the book then you'll understand what I'm talking about but if not, someone once accused him of drugging Bob to make him calmer and more tame.
Homeless people do drug cats to get more money. I was on prince street in Edinburgh and this miserable git was begging and had a kitten that clearly was quite unwell. I knew something wasn't right and had a big fight with my then boyfriend about what to do ( I wanted to pay for the kitten). Turns out that was exactly what not to do. The man had been stealing kittens and drugging them. Lucky he was arrested maybe a week later? Obv that wasn't the case with Bob but it does happen and you can google that case.
I think this cat looks quite normal not drugged. I walk my 2 cats outside myself, they are leash-trained but they mostly follow off leash just like dogs. Though we mostly go into nature, I would never walk my cats in the city due to the poluted air. Cats can be trained to do a lot of things.
@@thesilverpetals910 For real. Only if people treated them as if they had a mix of terminal cancer, leukemia, glioblastoma, and major depression/PTSD maybe it'd be better. You're going to arrest someone because they got a brain tumor? They can't help it. People with brain tumors (addictions) need medication (drugs) to survive sometimes.
I find it really annoying that so many people cant stand seeing someone find happiness in life. I've been around cats all my life, I'm 52 now. Most cats wouldn't sit still around that traffic, never mind staying somewhere they didn't want to be. He's clearly comfortable with James and trusts him. I belong to a couple of groups on Facebook for people with cats and these idiots show up there as well. Accusing people of abusing their pets because they don't agree with this or that. They have nothing constructive to say, it's always condescending. I've been in the same boat as James and having a cat meant the world to me. Like my Mum used to say. "If you've got nothing nice to say, shut yer trap"

Well said, we who know cats know they have an independent spirit and choose who they trust. They are a source of comfort to many people and my daughters cat was a one woman cat although people say they are not loyal.

I just read the book, 'A street cat named Bob' and thought, "is this actually a biography?' And sure enough it is! Well done James Bowen for going through what he has done.

@@L2ggs Yes, he has Bob on the leash because they busk in the CITY. What happens in the city? Lots of noise around and sometimes something unexpectable can happen and when the cat suddenly gets scared, it runs. It could get lost or hurt. James even says it in his book he bought the leash and tried if Bob's ok with it just after this happened once because he wanted to prevent such situations in the future. It's not a walking leash as with a dog, more like a safety belt. And yes, cats are very much free - that's why you could NEVER force a cat to accompany a human it doesn't want to accompany. Which is why you showed two things by your very clever comment: you haven't read the book (and probably nor watched the movie) and you don't know shit about cats. :*
I like the way he dealt with that twit who accused him of ill treating him. I have fifteen cats. And yes they do wag their tails when they're happy. And yes, he's right to use a cat harness in a town full of cars. That cat is very obviously content.

I finally decided to read the book last night after hearing about Bob passing away, what a beautiful story. I hope James will be okay. I lost my cat 2 years ago, I had her my entire life & it was so hard. I think about her every day. At least she is playing with Bob in heaven now ❤️

I have read the 3 books....they are wonderful. This cat is simply amazing. This story is a human story of hope, redemption and change all brought about by Bob, a cat, but not just a cat, who is a gift from God to James and..an inspiration to us all.
We have a cat named Winter at the shelter I work for who does that same tail wagging. She has her own unique personality. I hope she finds her forever home soon.

We will miss you, Bob. It was amazing how Bob just stayed there by James while he played guitar. He one in a million. Such a tight bond and love they had. I think Bob was an angel.
