Original upload had low volume so re-uploaded the video. As some of the early discussion is still in the older video -- the link to the old video with quiet audio can still be found here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kwat5BUdIDs.html

Glad you and your voice are finally back! Informativ and and comprehensiv video, really like you stated your personal biases and guidlines to rank ships so you won't get flak if somebody disagrees with your opinion, saw that happen to other content creators! A big shout out for taking on that mammoth task giving your opinion about every full stat ship in the game! Thank you for showing your affection for the game and posting that awesome content! Take care, especially of your voice, and stay safe!

Awesome video! I love that your voice is back along with all the expression we get from it. Your tier list is great as well, very good research work with fascinating insight into how boff layouts influence the playstile of a ship (and of course which hell expensive ships have almost identical more affordable versions). I do not agree with putting the Scout ships below the tanking alternatives (maybe because I love everything exept the Trait about the Dranuur), but that was to be expected and absolutely right from a tanking perspective. I cannot wait to see the next videos!

Thanks, this was a great comprehensive video! Because of the video's release date, the Equinox/Nova Scout Ship (introduced 04 NOV 2021) was not included. I'd really like to see a review and/or build for this ship. I use an Eternal-class, and am very interested in trying out the Nova (T6 Equinox Pilot Scout Ship / Fleet Nova Pilot Scout Ship) for a DEW/EPG build. So far I've not really found one on RU-vid, only builds for the T2 and T5 variants. I'm also researching the Verne (which you reviewed here).

45:32 you start talking about the Na'kuhl console duplicating the ship. When playing through the story arc, I was really hoping that ability would be a mission reward like the ground shield is. Its nice to see that it is available to get in the game, if you are willing to pay for it.

The main thing I got from this video is that I've had the best c-store science ship for years, nothing actually stronger has come out except for lockbox stuff, and the "best" sci ship is a flying toilet. Great. They better make the T6 nova blow everyone's minds when it comes out or I'm going to be very disappointed, but that'll probably be another legendary too. Uuuuugh.

The names people give the flying toilet though... Makes for some good laughs in Sol system or anywhere when seeing one 😂

Cool vid, I do disagree with a lot of it though. I guess it all depends on what you're trying to do with that science ship.

Lots of great information in these. Although I remain confused with the overwhelming focus on tanking for rating Science and Escort type vessels. It feels like going to another more traditional MMO and going “well yes that Wizard and Rogue can do some really great damage, but why can’t they tank!?!”
@TheHazelnoot
@TheHazelnoot Год назад
To be fair, STO really doesn't have such defined roles as that. Aside from that, you can't do damage if you explode, and if you play with randoms and not exclusively in premade Elite, you're not always going to have a tank to pull aggro, certain enemy types also have indiscriminate targeting at times, so survivability still has its benefits in certain cases where you're being, as you put it, space wizard.

Losing my voice for a little while, and then my laptop deciding to self-destruct, made things difficult. Add to that the fun complications of today (having to re-upload this video due to forgetting a filter I had on my old OBS to make me louder...). I'll be changing things to be more consistent on the channel.

@@CounterYoloGaming Now, for an actual question. Miracle Worker ships get an extra console. I have never been clear exactly what "tradeoff" is made in terms of gameplay. Losing a hangar for an extra weapon slot makes perfect sense. Yet none of the MW ships seem to have to have something taken away to get the extra console, let alone a universal console (which, let's face it, everyone these days uses Lorca for the most part). What do you see as the big tradeoff made to get the extra console?
@CounterYoloGaming
@CounterYoloGaming 3 года назад
For most Cmdr specializations, you have 2 parts to them. Temporal has a building passive & an active ability. Intel has its weaker stacking mechanic & an active if it goes high enough. Pilot has pilot maneuvers that is so spamable vs the others to count here. Command has a slow stacking mechanic to a powerful teamwide active. For Miracle Worker, the extra console is balanced by its terrible RNG reward system for spamming abilities (RNG based on what abilities to use & its effect being minor or major -- not reliable). The extra console adds the reliability to Cmdr/MW. For exotic builds, the MW powers aren't really that great either, but that extra console is worth it for sure -- especially as the game goes on & clickie consoles get more & more powerful (to outscale the passive dmg amp you can get from Cmdr/TO on a starship). From the comments on Reddit, we may actually already be at that tipping point. Does any starship really have to lose something to get a Cmdr specialization? Not really (besides the super early days of delta rising, when Cmdr/spec was rare & intel was bonkers). When I was comparing some of the starships in this list, it was comparing their strength to that in specific cases. E.g. the Fleet Titan is the Legendary Glenn but +1 rear wpn instead of Cmdr/TO.

@@CounterYoloGaming Now, I have an actual question: You state that TO primary has a passive and an active ability, Molecular reconstruction (Offensive, defensive and support configutations) being the passive and the molecular Deconstruction beam being the active I assume. But which function do the counters have except for fueling the Deconstruction beam? Do they just determine the effect of the Deconstruction Beam or do they have a second purpose? I ask this, because I've heard in some videos that you loose all of your counters isn't a good thing, but looking at the description (ingame) doesn't support this.

First, thank you for this video. I learned a lot from how you evaluated ships! Second, you mentioned the Crossfit being a great DewSci platform. I was wondering if there was a chance down the line of a DewSci specific video? Currently have a crossfit and am running a morphogenic polaron csv build with MAS and NSB and am loving it but always looking to learn more. Anywho, thanks for all the work you put into these videos!

Fell in love with the Palatine class MM while playing my Tactical toon, good damage, manuverability and survival, temp seat + science abilities like grav well, feedback pulse and the resistance/healers make it very flexible. It can keep itself alive while nuking people but can also do sone fleet tending if needed.

I've been flying the fleet titan for a bit, and the only thing I use tactical mode for is to blip over to it long enough to mash attack pattern omega when my gravity well is on cooldown, then I swap back. Sad about the E-tier rating on the JH Fleet Support Carrier, on account of how effortlessly it wrecks game content, but I'd agree it's not a good SCIENCE SHIP.

*Cries on the bridge of his Jupiter* Seriously, though, it is bad. I wasn't around for the competition when it was designed, but in the last mission with the Excalbians - when all of the Enterprises show up? - that is the one time a Jupiter looked glorious. A dreadnought carrier leading the who's who of starfleet. Which speaks more to the mission design than the ship, but you get the idea. I support *anyone* who will declare the Jupiter needs some serious love. I've got the new catbus (Aspero), dig the looks, but it suffers much of the same issues all carriers do...if not worse. It's a real shame Cryptic hasn't figured out how to build out the 'pet class' in this game more successfully. Q knows, it's got loads of potential for microtransactions with unique hangar pets. At least make them middle-of-the-road good? I still wonder if the issue for carriers is that they're classed as science ships (and thus generally built around that ethos) when they should *probably* be multi-mission oriented, with the ability to perform 'average' as tanks, support, or even DEW, rather than science heavy (or anything else 'heavy'). Jack of all trades often makes for a fun playstyle.
@CounterYoloGaming
@CounterYoloGaming 3 года назад
The big problem IMO is that hangar pets in general don't have as much "skill expression" as other playstyles in STO (more of passive DPS) -- and that some hangar pets out-dps many casual players in normal TFO's. Honestly, the "easy" way to fix it is to add science abilities that enhance what hangar pets do (imagine having a stronger new "hangar pet CSV" ability and other abilities as science abilities). Hanger pet recharge time is reduced with higher aux power, so it would make sense to me to have new hangar pet powers as science abilities. It's part of what I will talk about in my part 4 conclusion video of the things I learned from others & ideas to fixing the weaker subclasses in STO.

A little late but I think you heavily devalue Intel Sci for solo play. In solo play it is one of the strongest seatings if you have the Acta trait which if you play correctly, is the best method you have for sci survival outside of the Na'kuhl Daemosh. Also, Daemosh is a bit low on the T list imho, id put it A tier. All in all, I agree with your tier list except, as stated above, it does not account for solo strength (which I admit is not as important as multiplayer viability.)

so interesting thank you, and so still relevant in 2024 and would be amazing if could ( assuming that you haven't already, I'm newish to the channel and must check) update or re edit and re release with the last two years of Sci ships added? Especially after the t6x extra slots and traits? Also is there a good active science clan or armada with active teams in pve and pvp to take on the dps geeks with epg ?

Love the list, but seems really subjective on what your focus is. I would rate the "Crossfield Science Spearhead Refit" higher on this focus, mainly because it comes with 13 console slots, has command, 4 front, 3 back and 4 devices. With one of the best space traits in game. But.... if you are a universal dps/uni/anomaly focused guy like me, intel seating is a must for the traits spore and unconventional systems.

I just don't understand why the Ra'nodaire gets no love, while not a dedicated true science vessel, it's high hull and plentiful science seating plus universal command seating makes it great for drain tanking and support. It's also super maneuverable in stealth and battle cloaks. It singlehandedly got me hooked on this game.

I haven't got the fleet titan as they don't have the provisions on their end for that. Am thinking it's not a bad as you have listed. As I see little flexibility on most of the seating on most ships. I would rather they all be universal and allow the player to determine how they place it and what specialties. It's not so we are stuck with it. Am planning to use it as most DrainX/EPG on this one but I really wished I could use TO on it. As that would make it much better. Am agreeing mostly on what you said on specs but I put PLT at the very bottom. It's really pointless and doesn't offer much in my book. I know when I was looking for what I was after for a science vessel; it just wasn't any there. I wanted 4/4 or 4/3 on weapons, secondary of course and TO Cmdr seat, shield modifier of 1.3+, hull modifier I think it was 1.1+, and for consoles 4 Tac, 4 Eng and 5 Sci. The universal one was more of a whatever. Hull I was wanting something around 65k+ which is just a bit high for science vessels with the turn rate of 10+. Yeah, I know it wouldn't work really so I would give up on the hull for the ability to move. If you can't get there then all of the DPS in the world would matter not. That's the problem I have on my Romulan captain. Those ships minus the console to help with the turn rate would need the entire map to turn. And I would rather have something to reduce damage or alike instead but I have to use three turn consoles just to be somewhat useful. But they are ok, to take the damage but I have to get there first.

With the Verne and it’s other faction clones, if you acquired the Verne as an Account Unlock via the Mudd’s bundle, when you claim it on each character you get to choose which flavor it is. Fed, KDF or Rom. I think you can actually have all three on a single character if you want?

totally do not agree the Jupiter is the worst on the list. Surely it is bad for DPS and I probably will put it E tier also, but I wont rank it below the Vorgon Carrier, due to it being an Engineering Carrier. The elite callisto frigates arent the highest DPS pets for sure but my parse of them on paper aren't really that bad either. Anyway, the jupiter is the only ship that I do not own the C-store version but the fleet version, due to neither the console nor the trait being useful for me, but I spent full 5 fleet modules to buy one simply because I like the design and theme a lot.
