Appreciate including the foreshadowing - there are more if you look closely: Nehemiah weeps over Jerusalem, Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Nehemiah cleanses the temple in 13:8-9 Jesus cleanses the temple as well. They both had enemies who plotted against them…etc.
Not trying to be silly or immature here, but did anybody else laugh out loud when it described Nehemiah smacking some people around and pulling their hair? He had some righteous indignation going on there lol. Great video, very informative and to the point as always so appreciate your hard work!
Fun Fact: Nehemiah was sent to rebuild the city of Jerusalem and her walls by Artaxerxes in the years 445 BCE. The second temple was completed in 516 BCE - 72 years before Nehemiah was sent there. Nehemiah mission was only about restoring and rebuilding Jerusalem and did not have to do with rebuilding the temple.
Ezra and Nehemiah end in resounding thuds. The end of Nehemiah does not indicate the people are any more faithful to Yahweh than they were before the wall. N prays faithfully that God would bless his efforts, but I don’t think he asks God what should he actually do. Maybe the takeaway for us is not to presume to just ask God to bless our plans, but instead seek God for His plan, then act on that.
