I heard a Rabbi say the other day, that is the most Prophetic book in the Scripture, describing the relationship between Israel, the Assembly and the King, the Messiah.
The attempt to understand this book in the context of theology, any attempt to represent this book as a relationship of Christ and Church is a sin, because erotic, intimacy, words like "breasts", "thighs" have nothing to do with God and the Bible. It was wrong to include this book in the Bible and say that the book is canonic, I don't even know what they were thinking at the councils :))
Truly understand you bro, but it is about Gen 2. It's inviting us to an ideal world where both parties are seen as equal, and most importantly vulnerable with each other naked and feel no shame. After all sex (love making) is a gift from God, so the characters are celebrating that reality in a way they can freely sexualy express the way they feel about each other as male and female joined together becoming one flesh and feeling no shame of the gift that God has given them. More so it's a way of addressing masogony in the ancient context, as most of the time you'll see that the female is the one who initiates the chats, she is the one who freely gives her love to her partner without being forced
Genesis 2:18-25 Our bodies are for our spouse to become one flesh as God designed this for fruitfulness. Sin corrupted this by introducing shame to the humans’ nakedness. Genesis 3:7-8.
Yahweh created the heavens and the earth, created humanity, and commanded to be fruitful and multiply. God is love, and this book illustrates when the humans made in a good and loving God's image do what He's commanded them to do. Why is the language so appalling? They're mentioned elsewhere in scripture. And usually in horrific, hard to read instances of human's wickedness ; not being good, loving, or obedient to the Lord's commands. Why not have this book where things are good? Why not have a book celebrating how pleasing obeying the Lord is? Why not have a book showing that is a holy, wise, and good thing to fully enjoy your spouse? I love that it's being modeled in poetry.
