I’m amazed at the way you are governed by the wind! Ooh er, missus!

The wind is absolutely the worst weather to boat in even on a boat that ways a few tonnes! 😆

check the tightness of your alternator belt before you start of your cruise,rather than apparently leaving it till the next time despite any voltage out of alternator/in to your battery bank. It my not be squeaking but it could be still slipping and wearing.Keep a dated maintenance log of tasks done (particularily w.r.t batteries water top up) and in the event of both servicing or rectification of faults then you have a record of who did what,when and why! Case in question was when you had the lady service your faulty electrical connection vlog when you couldn't start the engine.

sounds like a bearing going dry, take the belt off, then turn each pulley in turn, any movement in pulley, you have found that noise

What a soggy doggie,we got a water proof boiler suit for our spaniel ,saved a lot of cleaning 😊Nice bit of helms women steering at Dunchurch Sonya .l thought the engine sounded more like “Skippy”😂 l usually put a bit of black tape over warning lights,less irritating then😊

Last month I hired a narrowboat, and it had the same problem. The owners thought it was the battery or the alternator. Replaced both and the problem consisted. Turns out it was a broken wire in the harness, under the motor. It was shorting and arching. So check your wiring...where you can't see it... you'll need to stand on your head for this one...
@sameshipdifferentday2024
@sameshipdifferentday2024 4 месяца назад
Thanks for that, Sonya did wonder if it was a loose wire. How annoying changing the alternator and battery when it was just a wire!

Well my dog did not like the rain or wind . Did not mined muddy pools but if her nose got hit by the rain then she did not like it at all. And if there was a bag in the wind well she would run the other way.

I'm constantly bemused that English people always talk about the 'floor'. I'm Australian and floors are in built structures. Anything outdoors i. e. the earth, is the 'ground'. I've even asked English people here (in Australia) about it when I've heard them talking about the 'floor' when out walking in the bush. They usually say they use both terms. Very strange as I would NEVER call the earth the 'floor'. I sometimes wonder if it's because so many people now just spend most if not all of their time in structures rarely spending much time in nature.

Never really thought about it before, but you are right it is weird calling the ground the floor. I use both just indiscriminantly! To think we both used to be teachers and don't know the difference between ground and floor...

I’m a bonafide Englishman ( well bits and pieces of Scottish and English 🤷‍♂️ ). I’ve never called the ground the floor !. Maybe that’s because I do actually prefer the outside to the inside and I worked most of my life outside as well ? Well sort of outside/inside ! I was a crane driver so a lot of the time I was outside but in a Cab so inside at the same time,probably another reason why the ground is the ground and the only time Floor was mentioned was when stuff needed to go onto the 3rd floor maybe ?. Now that you have said it I won’t be able to stop myself from listening to how everyone describes the ground or floor !!!. Never really thought of it before 🤷‍♂️

@@moffatt43 I guess it could have caused a few problems in construction if you got the ground and yhe floor wrong!

@@sameshipdifferentday2024 Oh I had many confusing moments ( not myself ) but from Banksman and Slinger/signallers who didn’t know their Arse from their elbows and left and right 🙄. Working on the Gherkin,some of them were terrible,I’m up in the clouds ( on low cloud cover and misty days it’s as if you were isolated from the world and floating on cotton wool 🤷‍♂️) and you get a Banksman saying a little bit too the left ( ? Your left or mine ? ). We also had chaps whose main language wasn’t English and they could get a bit excited and start chatting away or arguing about whatever down below….. you just let them get on with it until they realised you couldn’t understand a word they were saying ?!!. One particular chap when you wouldn’t do What he said NOW he would get really annoyed and upset and be jumping around ( from my vantage point he just looked like a little flea bouncing around ( bit like the old comedies when someone is in high speed motion 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ ). It was Good Fun though. Did mobile crane work as well all over the Country and did a few Boat lifts ( narrow and expensive cruisers ( some people were ok but some owners kinda got in the way and made simple lifts extremely difficult )
