2022 NCAA Wrestling Championships You don't get to see these very often in College wrestling. let alone in the big dance. Not sure if this is really a Suplex, but ... I really don't care. :-) #wrestling #ncaa #collegewrestling #shorts
@@akamarcel3566 ironically enough I wrestled in Michigan too and I know up there that's what we would call it. I've seen in some comment that said this was illegal but it was not. That might have called it illegal wrestling like Middle School or something but high school and freestyle or something but high school and College this would have been perfectly legal because his knee hit the mat about the same time. Nice throw
Here where I live we call it a front to front or belly to belly suplex. I've never heard of it being claled a front souffle. Even now, I mean granted I'm not a wrestler more a BJJ grappler now after 11 years, this is the first time I ever heard it being called a front souffle.
@@AWCTB I watch a lot of Greco, mostly international championships. I'd say double unders are pretty rare. Throws from double unders or overs are about as common I would say.
It's called a front to front or belly to belly suplex. So yes it is a suplex, just a variant we don't normally see and is usually more difficult to pull off than the traditional front to back suplex because the front of ur opponent give off much more resistance and fight than their back does.
I went back to college at 31, wrestled freestyle in the military. Went to wrestling practiced and did the same sup. Coached loved it, couldn't do it in college. 1989
Wrestled with both Lucas and Max in school. Max was in my grade but lucas was at every practice almost. They were always a dominate duo lucas was a ball of energy
Belly to Belly suplex. He is locking him up in a front bear hug; engages hip to hip; uses a quick hip thrust up and then rotates through the suplex. Perfectly legal (in folkstyle) as he rotated all the way through as opposed to dumping him on his head.
It’s 100% legal because his feet never went over his head and his body was thrown in-line with the angle of the m shoulder. It was very close, but it was legal 🙂 Great Throw 🙌🏽
This is beautiful. Kept foot in bounds, got underhooks in deep and sunk hips deep at moment of the throw. People in different areas refer to this differently. Symantix really. Suplex, or Salto or lateral drop. Doesn't matter what ya call it as long as you can appreciate how difficult this is to do at this level and do in such a clean beautiful manor. Props to Byrd for this one. Austin gomez has literally perfected this move and has pinned some of the countries best wrestlers in the ncaa. All Americans getting stuck in like 10 seconds. It's actually quite amazing.
My dad used to call it a front soufflé but he wrestled back in the 60’s, when I grew up in the same area we called it a belly to belly suplex. Front soufflé sounds a lot cooler IMO.
Its a supe, reason referees don't deem illegal is because thrower did not land on own head in a full arch, there was a "bail out" before, defensive wrestler landed first without excessive force or a "slam" action which keeps throw honest enough not to call illegal...can watch 1982 NCAA finals, Mark Schultz vs. Ed Banach, same similiar throw by Schultz.
What makes a throw an Illegal slam in folkstyle is when the guy throwing doesn’t land his knee or body on the mat before a part of the thrown guys does first. I paused this at the point of impact and it was a tie. Completely Legal
Since when did the goal of the sport become about takedowns? It's not Judo it's wrestling. I remember when both competitors were trying to pin each other.
