Not at all. Our species has an insane packing bonding ability. Its why something as crazy as pet rocks are possible. You can test it out for yourself. Grab a toothpick give it a name and then talk to it for 1 minute like its a person. Then break it and see how you feel. We are masters of pack bonding.
Only some species can swim...you can tell by the back 2 legs whether it's a swimming species or not...swimmers' 2 back legs are flat and rounded on the ends like paddles, scuttlers back 2 legs look like the rest of their legs...

But if he's swimming backwards with eyes front how does he/she/it know where its going? I know its eyes are on stalks but they're deepset under that carapace? Anyway, how many crab species have legs adapted for swimming? Where found? And...... Most importantly.... How big do they grow? are they edible? Any freshwater varieties?
I’ve never seen, nor knew about how crabs can swim. I also thought about those extra “flipper” things they have, and what purpose they serve when eating them, but never knew they used them for swimming. Let alone, appearing to be an underwater helicopter while swimming with those things XD
I remember “playing” with these as a kid. I’d see how close I could get before it bolted off into the deeper water. I think I caught one once or twice!

Actually im pretty sure thats a *mudcrab* (sorry if I'm wrong) but it looks like he's swimming in the sea which confuses me cuz I've only seen mudcrab in fresh water and mud.
@@oeungtichheang2005 It looks like a velvet swimming crab, except it has white instead of black-tipped claws. Maybe it’s a grey swimming crab I’m not sure.
I'm on vacation and did a snorkeling excursion where I saw these guys! A few looked so soft 🥹 We're doing an awesome rock cove freestyle tomorrow because we saw a bunch of them scurrying around that area! Can't wait to finally feel how soft their velvet is ❤️🦀🦀 adorable
@PogChamp it’s possible, but they definitely do swim that high if they feel the need to. Same with scallops. You wouldn’t think a shellfish like a scallop can swim, but they are surprisingly fast and hydrodynamic if they feel pressured to.
@Originz Fishing but crabs don’t usually swim, so it would just be swimming crab, plus when was the last time you heard anyone say “look a swimming swimming squid”
@@shadowdemon553 do you know anything about crabs?, not all crabs can swim. Some species of crabs such as Portunidae have flatten back legs for swimming, hence the swimming crab.

@Alex Gibbs yes I'm aware that there are many crabs that aren't designed for swimming like the Japanese spider crab but this crab look kinda like a blue crab I'm sure it's similar nevertheless and there sold in grocery store so i don't know why it'll be surprising to see a that are similar or the same type crab swimming
@@isleling5191 because we've simply never seen it happen before, and i certainly have never been told umprompted "hey you know some crabs can swim?", we only ever usually see them walking so its reasonable to assume they decided to ditch the whole swimming idea. (also, their tail is in no way designed for swimming, its barely even visible let alone protuding enough to help in the act of swimming💀)

I had absolutely no idea crabs could swim. Not only that, I never even considered that they could swim, lol, which is the sad part :) It had never even crossed my mind, lol.
First time I've seen a crab swimming in my life! And I liked the part were it was swimming and then landed on the sea floor like a rocket landing on the moon
@PogChamp no this crab actually swims, most crabs cannot swim to the top, but the family of swimming crabs Portunidae can all do this, they can take off from the bottom (not in video) and then swim around like in this video.

WOW. Growing up a spearfishman's on and childhood on a Pacific Island, I have NEVER seen crabs swim before. I would pull out those suckers when I start eating them, but now I'll have to take a closer look at them... absolutely intriguing.
Came here because i saw this video on fb.. but the video was reverse and playback speed slightly sped up.. and it looks like the crab was pissed and chased after the diver... Hillarious😂
