Over two videos I'm going to tell you the tale of two completely different Clan Fraser Chiefs! This video is about Simon Fraser, 11th Lord Lovat, often known as 'The Old Fox'.

I just discovered your channel and have been watching your past videos. Very informative and well done. fo Forty percent of my ancestors are from Northern England which by the names apparently was Scotland.

I thoroughly enjoyed this information on the 11th Lord of Lovat. I’ve heard things and read things about him and it appears to me as if this man was always out for himself. The information you gave was very interesting and I appreciate it. I like finding out as much as I can about the Fraser’s of Lovat.

So if the Lovat Frasers never made Culloden , which Frasers were on the field , they fought on the frontline and have their own cairn ?

As far as I know, Derek, the Clan Fraser contingent at Culloden was led by Charles Fraser of Inverallochy, and numbered about 300 men. The Frasers of Inverallochy are a branch of Clan Fraser of Lovat, who hail from Inverallochy in the north-east of Scotland. Kind regards, Scotland.

I found this after a lengthy ancestry DNA/heritage search. According to these sources I'm related to the Frasers and the McLeod's. Simon is supposedly my 9th great grandfather, and Thomas Daniel McLeod is my 5th great grandfather, on my side of the pond(America). Its wonderful to find this much history in my family, even if its just a slice. Thank you.

Excellent video as always, Gordon!!! There used to be an excellent Clan Fraser video here on RU-vid. I think it was made by the BBC and it was from the late 1960's or early 1970's but it gave an awesome depiction of the Old Fox's ride to the beheading gallows and how he conducted himself. It was the stuff of legends! The channel that had the video is no longer on RU-vid and I can't find the video anywhere on the net! It's exact title was "BBC Early 70's (?) Clan Fraser History PT 1" and here was the link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MSkW6uf7FH4.html If anybody downloaded all 3 or 4 parts of this video by chance or if anybody can direct me to where it could possibly be located PLEASE let me know! @@gordonsscotland8441 thank you brother. It was an excellent documentary, the music and the images were so perfect for the subject. I'm half Scottish, half German and love the history of the Celts and Germanic peoples. My father's people were from near Fort Augustus on the South shore of Ness. My mother's family is from Swabian Bavaria in the alpine valleys where some of the earliest known Celtic artifacts have been found, and not too far from the world's oldest known musical instruments and oldest known carvings of animals and humans were found (over 30,000 years old!). Our people have a glorious history and hopefully an even more glorious future. The love of our ancestors runs deep in my soul. Bless you my brother, thank you very much for taking the time to make your most excellent videos and in doing so keeping the history of our people alive!
