Dr. Oblander, with Dr. Brady-Kalnay at Case Western, is developing targeted agents for tumor detection, imaging, and treatment to seek and destroy cancer. This technology can help clinicians to see brain, breast, prostate, lung, and gynecological cancers and melanoma. Their current focus is on brain tumors due to the invasive nature and severity of the disease, as well as the short survival time. To get these technologies into hospitals, Dr. Brady-Kalnay founded NeoIndicate, an Ohio-based company focused on advancing tools for improving tumor detection, imaging, and treatment. The lead fluorescent imaging agent has been independently manufactured and validated to specifically target tumor cells in models. Neurosurgeon Dr. Andy Sloan at the University Hospitals of Cleveland will launch the clinical trial for this treatment in 2022.
