Lynn, we have done the Burr Trail multiple times and always enjoy it. Long Canyon and Singing Canyon are excellent places to see and enjoy. If you plan on doing the Burr Trail Swichbacks we recommend going up from the Notom Road side. Thanks for watching...Much appreciated!
Lower Muley Trail is off Burr. About a mile after pavement quits. If you’re a decent hiker it’s an amazing hike. Bring water. 4wheel drive saves you a mile or so of walking.
@@paulgee8253 I did a little research of the Lower Muley Trail when I did the video of the Upper Muley Twist Trail and does sound like an intriguing hike. Thanks for sharing your experience on that trail. We will be back to that area this fall and we will check it out.
The insect you scared up is a Desert Locust, Schistocerca gregaria. It is related to the Desert Locusts that cause such problems in desert areas in other parts of the world. I have seen them throughout Utah and into Arizona. Great video. Thank you!

I believe it is a totally different insect but it was so close to becoming part of our windshield that the video is a little blurry. Unfortunately, Part 1 is the only one released as of today. Nice video! That looks like a pretty flat, graded road and one that a regular car could navigate with no issues. Do I have this right? On these back roads, maybe you could address what kind of cars can most likely make the trip. Ie: 4wd needed, regular cars, low to the ground cars, etc. I want to make a western road trip in my 911 which, of course, would be mostly relegated to paved roads, but wouldn't mind stretching my comfort zone now and then! Thanks Tom! Regarding your "Western Road Trip" If I were you, I would drive the 911 to the area you wanted to explore, park it and rent a Jeep. The challenge with off-roading is that many factors come into play when choosing a road/trail to take and you need a capable vehicle suited for this type of travel. The weather is a big one, especially in South Central Utah. If a rainstorm rolls through it could be clear where you are but the rain just a few miles away can cause "Flash Flooding" where you are. A lot of trails in this area are in "Dry Washes" so guess what happens when it rains (Please see ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FJOpZF_4b-w.html). A second factor is the condition of the road. It can change from week to week and day to day. Again, weather can change the condition of the road. High use of the road, especially as use increases through the spring, summer and early fall, can cause it to become rutted, "washboardy" and any sandy area can become deeper, ironically if there hasn't been any rain. BTW...The sand in South Central Utah is not real sand, it is more like powder. A third challenge is to get reliable information on the road you plan to take. I use "TrailsOffRoad.com" to get my road/trail info. They offer info on roads/trails in multiple states in the USA. Anyway, I try to give a recommendation in every video I do as to what type of vehicle would be suitable for the road (I guess I didn't to a very good job in the "Taste" 😉). For reference of conditions that can surprise you or are unexpected please look at 07:51 in this video and "Mollys Castle" at 00:48 and again at 16:00 or so when we cross "Toyota Tundra Wash". Also, please take a look at "Poison Springs Part 1 & 2" for a trail that quite a bit of the road is in a wash. Well, thanks again for commenting and viewing our video. It is sincerely appreciated. @@cactushill Yes, I thought about this over night and your info is right on. I've done a ton of 4 wheeling in the mountains of Colorado, and here the trails for the most part are the same day to day. We will be in Southeast Utah (City of Blanding) in May 2023 and we will sneak into Southwest Colorado and take a look at the "Canyons of the Ancients" and "Mesa Verde National Park". We also stayed in La Sal, Utah in the Spring of 2022 and headed East on Highway 46 and went as far as Naturita. On the way there we went though an area called "Paradise Valley" and the view, as we came down into the valley, was spectacular. Anyway, again thanks for commenting and viewing our videos. I have hiked and driven 4wd vehicle into tough places only to find a VW bus. Just be careful and don't take chances. Well traveled dirt roads will not be a problem. The 911 has short wheelbase and good clearance and weight distribution. Probably do better than a big 4wd 4door pickup.
@@iguanaamphibioustruck7352 This makes me laugh! I have a '49 Willys jeep and every year a bunch of us rendevous in Buena Vista, Co for a week of jeeping. A couple of years ago we were heading up a high pass (Tincup or Hancock, can't remember for sure) and about after an hour and a half of 4-low crawling, we come up on a campsite with a VW Westfalia! And it wasn't even the 4wd one as I recall! I just couldn't believe it. How they made it up there I'll never know!
I know a woman from Montana who has taken numerous horseback safari's into that area. It is extremely remote and full of lots of evidence of previous human habitation. Probably as old as the ice age ten thousand years ago, during Lake Bonneville and the mastodons. iguana

You know that one of the eight tribes that originally made Utah their home had it named something else...Not anything to do with 'Henry" 😅 The mormons were no different than any other of the trespassers. (squatters) They bribed with religion instead of alcohol and promises.

@@cactushill I think I was wrong. I watched the video again because I love geology and I now think it is a western conifer seed bug. Those back legs and slender body were bothering me so I dug deeper. Here in tx we call them stink bugs but I think they are not true stink bugs.
