Businessmen Timothy Kimber and Stefan Kaczmarek are hoping The Dragons will take a bite on their edible modelling clay for kids. They are seeking an investment of 500K and are willing to give the Dragons a 25% stake in their two-million-dollar business.
The Dragons are impressed by their numbers, including Kevin who wants a hefty royalty from future sales but Jim wants half of the Yummy Dough business. What will the entrepreneurs cook up?

@Joey Jojo no dude, he isn't scared with Mark. Just because Mark has more money doesn't mean he can intimidate other sharks because each of them has connection and knowlesge which Mark doesn't have. Shark Tank is less serious and less aggresive to match with US viewer's moral and taste. That's why Mark also iritated when Chris appears as guest show. He is also a billionaire although less rich than Mark but his connection in Sillicon Valley can't be understimated. In term of financial wisdom, Kevin is the smartest and realistic with business fact out of any other sharks.

Kevin’s money making intellect is on another planet. The way he pressured them into a royalty IN PERPETUITY is an insane idea and it worked. He would’ve made millions and millions had the deal gone through. He’s a very strong negotiator and very quick on his feet and smart. He sees a deal when no one else can. and he knows how to make money more than any of them I think

honestly i don't think this is a safe product, first the kids get accustomed to the idea that they can eat their playdough's. let us if they have it on the side, secondly, imagine a kid playing with this on the floor and table and all around only to end up eating it, doesn't seem that clean to me

It's always been non-toxic, just not something that we should eat a large portion of. Frankly, I don't see the tie in with every kid eating clay and play doh and whatever else and licking the bowl clean when mom is whipping up some batter. It's interesting that on contemporary cake mixes, brownie cups all that stuff: DO NOT EAT RAW BATTER. That comes from a lawsuit and nothing else.

Hey can someone explain this to me? Kevin usually suggests royalties rather than ownership. Why? What is the advantage to him? Is it a good deal for the owners? He always adds, "in perpetuity", which worries me (for the owners, that is).
@randomdude6675
@randomdude6675 2 года назад
The advantage is he gets paid as soon as the company launches. Realized gains everytime merchandise/product is sold. It's way better for him because he can take a complete hands off approach with the company and still get paid. The consistency is also key. Company equity can vary in value over time drastically, whereas the price of the product will usually stay consistent. Royalty approach is the best way to go when it comes to companies that specialize in selling one particular product. After marketing/getting customers acquainted with the product is achieved, there really isn't much that Kevin has to do to get his money. It's usually not a good deal for the owners because it's more solidified than owning stake in a company. What I mean is, for example, the owners wanted to get rid of Kevin, they could try to buy his shares of the company back, or they can hope that Kevin sells his shares to another investor, thus having Kevin exit the company completely. This is not the case with a royalty in perpetuity. Kevin can keep on getting paid, and there really isn't much of anything the owners can do to get rid of him.

@@randomdude6675 This is very helpful. Many thanks!
@kevindunlap5525
@kevindunlap5525 2 года назад
Ultimately the advantage is that if his initial work pays off he can then sit back and do nothing in perpetuity. Imagine that with several, or several dozen companies, the checks that just keep coming every single month. With 50%, he's trying to guarantee himself something out of an offer that really isn't that appealing on the hopes that it will SUDDENLY become appealing based on his work or a fluke or the other guy or whatever....... and has since proven that it wasn't an investment but with 50% as a shark, you're going to make SOMEthing happen. Play Doh was never going to allow this in the US. RandomDude's explanation was very good.

Is it just me or does the thought of rugrats playing with edible dough with their dirty nose picking hands, and dropping it on the floor - and then everyone eating it (or mom baking it into disease cookies) make you nauseous too? Im guessing its not in N America because it could single handedly start a plague. Seriously cringy.
