I know what you mean, but this way it's spot on. The main cast gets to be the main cast. Barclay was an interesting side character in TNG, it wouldn't make sense to put him in first row. The tribute by making him "the original Murdock" puts him on the same level as Spock in the new movies, that's perfect. Additional to that, imagining datas curious ways being because he is mad, not an Android is just great humor.

That's all on you, not the video. This is supposed to be done in the style of a movie trailer that features the main cast and then some, so there aren't "far too many characters." He didn't "stretch it out to three minutes." The is meant to fit the length of the album version of The A-Team Theme used in this video, which is three minutes long. You say that "this would have been a classic video if it had been a couple of minutes long," which implies at least two minutes, but apparently, just one minute longer "spoiled it." That says more about your patience than anything. If this "just got too boring" and you "had enough," you hate action and are impossibly difficult to entertain.
