Saw them live recently and Jake extended this solo for 6-8 mins... It was absolutely majestic! They are so effortlessly talented.

Awesome video, thank you! Jake Kiszka is a powerhouse of a guitarist. That solos a killer, a perfect example of a guitarist telling a story. Beautifully done Thank you!

Love the Solo and the fact they have grown away from the Zeplin sound. I actually hear more Rush now from them. My daughter is learning this solo. This will help her a lot. Thank you

Especially the ending part is very sloppy in the original, but I guess that adds to the 70‘s vibes and rawness that makes this band great!

I know it's a common thing to communicate a rise in intensity by climbing the fretboard as this solo is an example of, but can you think of examples of memorable solos that don't do that? That stay on the lower side of the guitar, or go back around? How would you tackle this approach?
@rakman_guitarjams
@rakman_guitarjams 2 года назад
Comfortably numb solo (especially the live pompeii version) starts low-mid then goes high and back and forth. Gilmour also reaches the lowest notes on his guitar to add a sinister and memorable sound

@@rakman_guitarjams something i like to do, go to a haunting deep sound after a high like fast bit or something. Comfortably numb was one of the furst few songs i jamd a lot (never learnt the solo but loved to improv it in the style) and i feel thats where i got the habit from lol

Deep Purple and Dire Straits do just that in many songs. Also, try to limit yourself when playing to something like “lower than seventh fret” or “only from 5th to 10th and no pentatonic boxes allowed” have fun!

Why is this solo considered to be good? I heard better playing from kids noodling at guitar stores. ..Few blues licks and bland passages 8th notes like if someone who learned to improvise yesterday .. Blah

I seen them play this live last week, it was stunningly beautiful… it’s the emotion that young guy can express on his instrument that’s mind blowing. There are loads of technically more composed solos out there but they do absolutely nothing to resonate the heart like these guys do 🎸❤️
