Deciphering the PoE lore is just as big of a task as deciphering all the game's mechanics

@@furgel7717 That was way after the gods were asleep. The Beast was created by Sin to suppress all gods, including him. But its power leaked into the world and materialized as virtue gems, which humans used eventually for their own gains. Additionally, The Beast grew increasingly more wicked as another feedback loop between its power and humanities desires emerged. Basically all of recorded history takes place long after the gods were already asleep.

yes, that is why the symbol of the templars, the descry, is fashioned after the emblem of cleansing fire, visible on searing exarch, crystallized omniscience, and such. i think maxarius ascended sin pretty much by accident, and the implication is that only sin retained his humanity, because unlike all the other gods, he was vilified and not venerated, thus not creating the toxic feedback loop of other gods edit: also if im understanding the text on unique sanctum relics correctly, sin was being pursued by maxarius/innocence after their ascension, and lycia herself actually saved him

I want to say he worded it as: "My noble seed would not sprout" and can't be bothered to double check it.

@@carbon6111 I have my 3rd lab today, so I will check it. It sounds right to me, though. So did you take it as him being infertile? I think this is what it meant. Sprout refers to a plant, growing from a seed. So yeah, I'd say that's definite evidence to support this.

Also Chitus Perandus won because he teamed up with an ezomyte. His family had info on the labs construction and the ezomyte could escort him through. Chitus then screwed him over at the end and sealed Izaro in once he succeeded.

@@SchwingyGaming TBF I think a lot of the time people probably do use those words interchangeably. It's like the Americanised use of the word "dumb" I would imagine. How the original meaning of the word refers to a condition, where people cannot speak (it's like being deaf, or blind, but it affects your speech) But dumb has been used to describe people of lesser intelligence, too. I mainly attribute this as coming from the States. I know the term to "dumb down" also means to "simplify" so maybe this is the original meaning? I'm not actually sure... Words often have a lot of meanings, and even develop new meanings as time goes by. English especially is a weird one, as it's built from Greek, Roman and French, so it uses a lot of root words from these languages, but then we changed the sound of them. So English isn't at all a phonetic language. Words quite often are not pronounced, how they look. I think this is the main difference between OG English, and American English. you guys insist on pronouncing a lot of words phonetically, so they sound more like the original "French" etc words they were created from. I'm honestly fascinated by aspects of this. I have a thing I call the "Egg/Craig" paradigm. I remember being a child, and hearing American pronunciation of "egg" and it sounded like "aig" Then I remember seeing the movie "Friday" where the main character is called "Craig" but it sounds like they're saying "Kreg". So they basically have just switched round the pronunciation with Egg, and Craig. They can do both sounds, but just chose not to. Honestly dude, how does this happen? I mean the whole pronunciation egg as "aig" seems way less prominent now, maybe it was a specific area that pronounced it this way, I don't know... "Kreg" though, Kreg is here to stay. Almost all Americans say "Kreg" instead of "Craig". PS: and I know people from London talk weird, pronounce everything strange. I live at the other end of the Country, with a completely different dialect, never mind accent. I think we probably pronounce a lot of words closer to what you would expect them to sound like. London is closer to France, so this had an impact on the pronunciation of words. We also have more Norse and Celt DNA up here, far more Roman down south. This is why you have such broad and different accents (and individual dialects) in a place that's smaller than one of your big cities. We all evolved out of different tribes. The South got ruined by the Romans, where as we managed to repel them (we got hit by the Danes, although again, this was a little south of where I'm from. we're mostly anglo saxon and celt, where I'm from) These things have made a huge difference on the people in these areas. Ofc that's all gonna be gone in a hundred years anyway. England will probably be Saudi Caliphate, or something.

The Vaal were around for a *long* time. They both pre-dated and post-dated Innocence and Sin. We know this because they worshiped Arakaali for a while, who was stronger and more established than Sin, and they also used virtue gems, which were made by the Beast.

Last vaals. There was a vaal civilization during time when gods existed, worshipping Arakali, but Atziri should be after that. As at least Eternals mined gems in one mountain where the Beast is, so it's likely that gems are byproduct of Beast's existence.

The time where mortals could ascend to godhood is so long gone that it's basically prehistoric. The gods were forced into slumber by The Beast which was created by Sin. This also happened way before the Vaal. Because it was The Beast that accidentally leaked power as a byproduct of suppressing all gods, which created virtue gems in the first place. So all the civilizations that came after these events and worshiped those ancient gods only really did so based on legends, since they were all asleep by then.
