Normally “initially cute but undergoes a horrifying tone and style shift” doesn’t surprise me. But this one… this one genuinely got me. I thought the cutesy charm would stay, just with the addition of gore or whatever. I was not expecting a monochrome, hyperrealistic world inhabited by SCPs.

This game is kinda genius I'm not gonna lie. The sheer amount of hints and cheekiness about how "there's more to this frog than you'd think" in the cutesy sections almost make you think that the game isn't made by a dev that knows how to make something scary and they'd just be adding gore to the cute stuff but no, the complete tonal shift in the end of the game completely catches the player off guard by that point. It's surprisingly effective.

I saw a bull frog eating a bird and I realized they aren't that harmless.

Horror games with some humor are always the best, they just make the horror so much more noticeable when it happens

Honestly this game did a pretty good job of lulling me into a false sense of security, since it seemed from the first two endings it was going to be one of those quirky horror-comedy games that are fairly common these days. That build up made the hard shift in style and tone actually surprising and a little scary, despite "cute game has secret dark twist" being such a common trope. Pretty good for what is apparently the dev's first game, to me it shows they already have a good understanding of pacing and visual style. I hope they keep making games (if that's what they want to do), I think they could make some cool stuff in the future.

I love how at the start we don't understand the gravity of the situation and are even kind of 'fine' being eaten by the frog and all, but when the 'thing' chases us in the third ending, we're extremely scared. It's funny, because it is the whole premise of this game- to not realise what situation we are in, in order to not wanting to escape. And I must say, it really translated quite well.

You gotta love a horror game with a cute artstyle AND a great sense of humor 🤣

I love “short” games that have a finished aesthetic so you almost accept the tone from the first couple endings as “okay this is all there is” but then you achieve that specific ending and its BOOM - you opened the door into a whole second game. Gives me a TARDIS and _secrets_ feel, I love it.

(Second comment) Little theory! Could it be, that in the frog transformation ending we are actually turned into a horrific monster, without realising it? Given the third and true ending, it would actually make sense.

First thing I noticed was that Santiago is hairdryer-shaped, but you know, I think all the best things are.

In the 3rd ending, the game felt eerie before the actual scary part (the potion-making part I mean.), and I think it's because of the juxtaposition between the song and the environment because the environment was constantly changing between a monochrome PSX-style aesthetic and a low-poly lo-fi aesthetic, the screen was glitching out, and the frog was mad at you, but even then, the song stayed the same jazzy calm way it always was.

my favourite thing is Manly mumbling about how he's in a toxic relationship with this frog who never listens

I think that this game has literally the funniest dialogue I have ever seen. Also, that one Skyrim reference made RU-vid think that Manly was playing Skyrim the whole time.

I like the little detail in the SCP-like article/pages, with the ink blot quite clearly being inspired (at least to me) by the numerous ink blots usually associated with frogs.

Some pretty good humor there, the silliness works in its favor. Two amusing little endings and then you have the mask drop, going so far in the other direction that it kind of maintained that silliness to me. It may have started as a pun, but it was fun.

Yes, fresh content! I’ve been refreshing my feed for 30 minutes looking for something good to watch.

It was that dev's first game ever, so I think they nailed it!

I love everything about this game is so cozy and lovely despite it being a horror game and the art style totally enhances it and the BOOM art style change, with completely different vibes and genre it’s done so well

His ex was the bean you start a 3d unity project with. Of course, with a cute little bow on her head inorder to cover up how cold hearted she is.

When I see the thumbnail, I instantly remember when duolinggo sent me notification in the middle of the night, like threatening me to complete my daily Japanese lesson

I really enjoyed this. The humor is very self aware and 4th wall breaky but it fit with the theme of the monster and the jokes landed. The scary part was also pretty scary and the juxtaposition made it hit harder too

This was such a fun watch! I'm absolutely mesmerized by how pretty that art style is, I could happily play a full length life sim in this style haha Made the last act and the info you find in the documents more impactful too! Hope this dev does more games, I'd be excited to see where they'd go from here!

That was such a great and hard tone shift, I expected something scary like a flesh monster or something but still in the original art style of the game but WOW that tone shift was EXTREME, it was like it was an entirely different game

unsure if you will see this but honestly love your gameplay, how thorough you are and even including different endings and theories. commentary is always on point and you have an amazing voice to listen too. i have the same playstyle so when i watch you play, it feels like I'm playing myself. thanks again for doing what you do and sending appreciation from Australia x much love brother

This game is so much better than i expected (slight spoiler) the horror part was so good- I like the horror games when they are all cutesy then turn into this really good horror experience. Overall I thought this was a great game-

For the dev's first game ever, it was solid and good, I liked it!

The whole thing is about how if you slowly boil a frog, it won’t jump out of the pot, and it took me way too long to realize that’s the relevance of the frog.

Ok this game was funny and it kinda fits irl frogs imo... Also the agent of chaos comment lmao, I'd choose that option first as well because chaos is fun sometimes ^^' Interesting concept and I'd love to see the creator expand more on it as there's definitely room for other entities in future games, though if it remains a surprisingly good one off shitpost of a game then I'm ok with that as well because they're starting off strong. Not that the third ending was too surprising, but with the other two endings never dropping the cutesy facade, it made the final ending all the more creepy and impactful imo since it really seemed cemented in the cute aesthetic up until that point. Also love the lore, it's not just random horror for the sake of horror, there's a world behind this event and an explanation that is pretty interesting to me at least. Overall, good watch experience. Great commentary as usual but this time from both the game and Manly, dude and that "frog" make a good team- if he can convince it to change its diet ofc ^^'

I enjoyed watching this game! In my opinion, it probably could have done without the SCP-like "entity" stuff, but I'd give the dev a break since it is their first game (and I know from experience that making that kind of lore for horror things is fun). I liked the silly humor and the cute frogs, and the horror was just another layer to the cake.
