Clear Lake Shores is a unique coastal island community of just over 1,000 people, located about 35 miles southeast of Houston, Texas. It's located next to Kemah and the Houston Space Center and it's right up against Clear Lake, which is connected to Galveston Bay. It is regarded as the Yachting Capital of Texas, going back to the 1920's when they initially promoted the estuary as a weekend retreat for people from neighboring cities like Houston and Galveston. It's now populated with more permanent homes for people who have formed a community here. There are four different places that feature live music within blocks of each other right at the entrance: Aspen's Bar and Grill, Galveston Bay Brewing, Oakie's Yardhouse, and Jackie's Pub and Grill. After checking out this area I made it over to League City to play some songs at the League City Folk Association Acoustic Event in League Park. Good times.
