Eldraine is an enchanting land full of brave knights and foul witches, but if you're new to the game (or coming back after a break) you might have missed our first visit to the plane of fairy tales and Arthurian legends.
Worry not, loremage! I'm here to introduce you to some of the characters, locations, and events you might find referenced on cards in the new set, Wilds of Eldraine!

Slight correction: Will is not necessarily the 'rightful heir' as it's not a primogeniture (nor even bloodline) inheritance. The High Quest is what decides the High King not birthright. Hence why Will has been having a hard time uniting people as he has not undertaken the Quest.

even if there was primogeniture why favour will over rowan. we know eldraine has equal gender status rowan is just as qualified as will

I understand how it worked traditionally, but since nobody has seen the Questing Beast for years, and with most of the other knights dead or trapped in an enchanted sleep, I think Will is right to forego tradition and attempt to step into the power vacuum left by his parents. Rowan could also make a claim but given how much the kingdom seemed to resist Linden while Kenrith was a stag, Will probably has a better chance at actually bringing people together at this point.

@@flyingninjamimejr Well, from the leaked cards, it didn't look like Rowan was going to try and win the throne, so much as cut a bloody swath to it and behead whoever made her upset. She seems to care more about revenge than ruling the land.

Not big on the story line but I Wonder if the origins of the questing beast and the great Henge are somewhere in the lore seem like the two go together for some reason

If you read closely Rankle and Torbran highly resembles Legolas and Gimli's LoTR movie counterparts even their effects depicts this, since the 2 are competing how many enemies they kill and having bets 😂😂

I wasn't actively playing during Lorwyn (one of my rare breaks over the last 25 years) so I can't really compare them directly but I can say I really really like Eldraine.

@@MagicArcanumI never played Lorwyn but I did read the book and collected the cards. Loved that setting, and still think its one of the most successful planes (from a lore/worldbuilding perspective). As a result I'm conflicted over Eldraine as it is both a setting that has so many things I love, but feels like it steps on the toes of a setting I love even more. I guess we can have both, which seems to be what will happen in the near future!

Rightful heir? That's not how royalty works on Eldraine. That's the job of the Questing Beast and the test of the 5 courts and whatnot 🤔 Trust neither fae nor court and take your first chance (spark/omenpath) off that cursed plane 😋

@@MagicArcanum I disagree. Neither twin has any claim to the throne besides their parents. They definitely don't have the weight to just throw out tradition at a time like this. Just looks opportunistic and builds distrust, but I guess only time will tell

Unless we consider the possibility that the Questing Beast ultimately wanted Will and/or Rowan to be the King/Queen, and set forth a plan to make that happen by putting Kenrith and Linden on the throne first. Who are we to question the wisdom and foresight of such a majestic creature?
