I was in TJ last week and I walked across the border from San Ysidro for the first time and I followed most of your advice . After watching your videos it gave me some confidence to walk across the border . There were not very many people crossing at 10 am on Thursday . I took a taxi to revolution Ave. it cost $ 5 dollars and I walked back to the border crossing from el centro about 4 pm . There was a line to get into the USA but it went pretty fast . I had to wait maybe 30 minutes.
That's great. In the day it's really easy to jump on the "Centro" bus for a 10 peso coin. It goes straight to Revolution. Lately the day crossing has been long. Around 1pm it could take an hour walking. I always walk across in 5 minutes past 7pm. Glad my videos helped. I have more on the way. It's not complicated, and it's a great city to visit. I think you subscribed. If not, it sure would help my new channel. Thanks, Joe
I've been having a wonderful time watching your offerings, and I thank you for your clarity and being concise. To the point without a lot of fluff and BS. I'm a new fan.
Nice reconnaissance, appreciate the video. Will be going there end of March for a few months. $10 for my special guests and taco stands nearby is the ultimate bachelor getaway.
I stayed there in late August of 2014 for 3 nights and paid $60 per night. Temps were up over 100 F at that time. They make the best fajitas I have ever eaten as they bake them in their ovens in an ocean of cheese...
Love your comments and respect for the people, I live here in Asia , the red light district in a small street, does put a smile on my face with my dad and the guys there said if he wants to go to a gogo bar 🍸unfortunately my mom was with us at the time ⏲️😀
Thanks James. I can't see all subscribers. If you haven't, hope you consider subscribing. Trying to grow my little channel. Just a hobby, but trying to get better. Thanks again, Joe
You'll find hundreds if taxis. Most want a flat rate fee of $5 to go most places. You can save a few bucks with Uber, but its may take 10 or 15 minutes fir a car to show up. Taxis will be waiting out front. If you find a fair driver, get his cell number. These guys seem to work 15 hours a day
Thanks for watching. Yes, the Hotel Cascadas is where most people stay. It's a motel style hotel. But it's attached to the Hong Kong. It's noisy and kind of dirty. I would stay a few blocks away. But then again, some people really like it. Take a look before you pay
They kicked out a gay crew who stayed there because of homophobic reasons, they were just getting ready for a show in a nightclub when suddenly the manager and the POLICE came to tell them to leave the hotel FOR NO REASON just because they thought they were making out and things like that, what a shame of that hotel and what a misrespect of all their staff!
@@EagerExpat I like all your videos Joe. I don’t care how random they are. Most of us are stuck at home or locked down and find your content a really good escape. So keep up the good work, we really enjoy your videos!
@@Lopezee1 Cool thanks. Yes it's hard to get footage too. I went to Mexico City and everything was closed. Still I have some neighborhood footage to still edit. I'll get back when it's open.
Mexican Car Insurance is very important. I'm an affiliate for a great company in San Diego. Check out my link to Baja bound below. You can find a great policy using my link, at no extra cost to you. I remember there being more than 2 english channels back when I stayed a year ago. I would also say that it had over 100 channels. Mostly in spanish tho and alot of music channels (no pictures).
He said they had 20 or so channels. I was just in Cabo. A lot of the channels will switch from Spanish to English if you change the language setting on the remote. I usually just check out the laptop.
Is zona norte the cheapest place for hotels? Most videos on youtube regarding hotels are all in zona norte...anybody have any other recommendations for a more quiet area and still cheap?
Most places in Zona Norte are motels. Most are nasty, but you might find a gem. I did a few videos on higher end hotels. Usually 100 plus on the weekends, but you might get $60 on the weekdays. The Ticuan and Pueblo Amigo are popular. I'd put the Hyatt Place into the mix. A little farther, but a great hotel for $60. $15 hotels in Tijuana can be sketchy, but you might find a $30 place that isn't too bad. I lived in San Diego, so I never stayed in Tijuana hotels. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D8Tt2JDU2Cw.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tCqp-4WxsH0.html
Like most hotels. Hit or miss. I usually use my phone as a backup hotspot when I travel. I live in San Diego so I rarely stay at either. I like the casino at Pueblo Amigo, but Ticuan is closer to everything downtown. So that would be my first choice. Of course there are many nice choices
I always stay in the rooms in the middle if the Ticuan. The Executive rooms, no loud club music from the street into the room. Plus its a few dollars more than a reg room.
When I had stayed at Cascadas and Rizo De Oro, there was always some distraction all night long. Either it be prostitutes having a good time with their clients or hotel employees chatting and laughing their ass off in the middle of the night. Ticuan might seem a better place to sleep plus a higher quality hotel and a better area.
@@derekbuxton6626 if you do stay at Ticuan ask for room away from the bars. I stayed in one and the music is heard till 4am. Just pay the extra 7 dollars a night and stay in the executive room. The Ticuan does not allow bad behavior from guests or staff.
@@EagerExpat Stayed again last week, usual rooms in the middle. Sad to say this may be the last time. My last 2 trips some nights have had sleep ruined by loud groups that come in around 2am and hang out in corridors and in the hallway talking like its a public park. I told security and not much changed. I noticed the hotel is more booked than ever cause each time I ask for a room change its fully booked. Listen I know TJ is a party town but everything has its place and a hotel is to get some peace and sleep after certain hours. I will more than likely go to an airbnb next. Its sad for me, in the beginning so quiet and nice now it feels like a YMCA or something.
You asked me before about dentists. That one on the corner next to Ticuan on Revo and then another dental office right by Vittorio's, which is right by there, are the ones I recommend. Right near there as well on Constitucion is the La Cetto winery.
@@EagerExpat From Ticuan, you would make a left up Constitucion and veer right when the street parts. It's a 5 minute walk from there, on the left side. I like theie Cabernet.
@@EagerExpat Glad your foot is better. Yeah, La Cetto isn't too far from there. Of course, as you pointed out, walking can be dangerous cause of the driving.
How about reviews of great restaurants in TJ? My buddy just stayed at Hotel Lucerne. Said it was ok. And the area was nice. Malls shopping but nothing to write home about. Your opinion??
Well they are very mean!! And they are rude and disrespectful to people of the gay community!! They kick out a trans lady Vanesa 4k just because they saw many man going to her room, well she’s a performer and makeup artist, dressers had to go to get her ready for her show. They even didn’t allow her to get her luggage they put it out in the street for her!! How unprofessional, if you want this kind of treatment stay here!!
What's going on with this video? I put this out 2 years ago. Today I've had 10 people commenting about what a bad place it is. I haven't got a comment on this video in 2 years. Today 10 comments? Why the sudden interest on Hotel Ticuan? Seems like the hotel has made some enemies in the last 10 hours. It seemed to have been fine for the last 2 years. Hmmmm.
There are a 100 budget hotels in the same area. Most have a small swimming pool. Just keep in mind, in Tijuana you get what you pay for. Very big difference with a $20 motel and a $75 hotel.
Do you usually pay in pesos or dollars or both ?? Depending on what your paying for ? I haven’t been to Mexico in 20 years when I was in the military and had a long distance gf from TJ but I plan to go back
@@bobdooggie If we just run down for the night, usually US dollars. If I'm going to be in Baja for days, ill get pesos. Smaller places may give you a bad exchange rate on US money. Better get if you hand a taco stand guy a $20, you'll probably get a $10 and pesos in change.
Next Thu it's about $88 with tax. On Sat it's $114 with tax. That's on Hotel.com. I like them because the 11th night is a free room, based on your average cost of the other 10 nights. Stay 3 nights in LA for $150 each and 7 nights in other towns at $75 each and you get a free night worth the average. Maybe $100? If the room is $110, you only pay $10. If it's $90 you get the $100 credit, but no change. The $10 extra info could be for 2 couples visiting TJ, etc.. To be honest the Ticuan is a favorite for many guys to invite 2 girls back to the room. I think many hotels aren't a fan of that. So register for 2 people, even if your alone. $10 more for a third person, etc..
These are TJ higher end places. With Tax around $80 on the weekday. Closer to $115 weekends. This varies like any hotel. You can find it on Hotel.com. Thanks for the comment. I'm a new channel, hopefully you'll consider subscribing. Thanks, Joe
Sure I can. Might be a little while before I head back into TJ. Maybe a few weeks. I did do a video of the Mercado in Mexico City. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Uje6gjdOTB0.html Thanks for the comment. I hope you'll subscribe to my new channel. Thanks, Joe
Real Inn is a good choice. I live in San Diego, so I rarely get a hotel. Hyatt Place is also a great hotel. Sometimes it's $70. Good news the past few days. The pencil pushers in Wash DC must have gave the green light to open more gates at San Ysidro. 17 open today. 45 minute wait in general lane. 15 in the Ready and Sentri. On a Friday afternoon. With 7 lanes open, that's a 2 hour wait.
I sure understand that you don't care for the hotel. Again, I filmed this in 2021. Things seemed nice and tidy then. Maybe it has really changed. I understand there may have been a documentary and some poor treatment to a trans person in recent times. If that's the case, I sure don't agree with that. I'm fine with all the comments, but is this an organized effort from a concerned group? I haven't got a comment on this video in two years. In the past two weeks, I've got 20 or 30 comments saying what a terrible hotel it is. Again, I live in Thailand today. So, I'll leave any comments up that you wish to post. Thanks
I 100% disagree. It's a decent place for the money. Pay $600 a night at the Sofitel is you only travel 1st class. I've did both, and I've seen hotels even in Rosarito that were 100 times worse than Hotel Ticuan.
Let me guess, you work at another hotel. This place is for what you pay. Trust me, I've stayed in 1000 hotels. Try going to India to see a rough hotel.
Very disappointed falta de organización. Vi documental de lo mal que trataron a una muchacha artista porque no dejaron subir a su estilista y maquillara
I get it. Something happened in the past two years where people seem to now hate this hotel. No comments since 2021 and two dozen in the past week. So many, it almost seems organized. But, hey I live 8,300 miles away today. So I'll take your word (and 20 others in the past week?) Thanks for commenting.
You can use an Uber for less. You'll wait 15-20 minutes for it to show up. If it shows up. With gas $5 a gallon, the cabs charge $5 to go 2 blocks or 20 blocks. At the border they charge $6. You can argue and get $5, but a dollar isn't worth it. The metered cabs (orange) are long gone. Cabs were $2 or $3 back in the day when gas was $2 gallon.
I put this video out two years ago. It got a hand full of comments. Then nothing for two years. In the past week it has got a few dozen negative comments. Maybe since that documentary came out? I'm not sure, but thanks for watching.
