Very impressive and this is why you pay more for the quality and proudly built in America by good hardworking American men and women. Well done Airstream.
Anybody would be stupid to buy an RV today I heard somebody with a $3 million RV had problems the minute they drove it off the lot brand new RVs are being made crappy unsafe And somebody should campaign for a federal law
My Uncle worked at Airstream for years until he retired ! He sadly passed away several years ago his name was Leonard Flaute, he took great pride in his work and their product !
This video was brought up because I had been watching videos of problems with the motor coach and travel trailer industry. Very informative and helps me realize that manufacturing can still be done right. Great video and great workmanship - hopefully your parent company will continue to let Airstream do it the right way.
Justin, with 30 years in the RV business it is common knowledge that Airstream is the best quality built travel trailer.I love the Airstream Travel Trailers and you have produced a very quality video explaining the quality of your product.
if that isnt the most bull shit paid for bot comment ive read today. gtfo. comment section full of boomers and bots. dont break your arms jerking each other off. this viedo is just a dog and pony show. if you live rv life, you would never buy an airstream
I wish that were true today. Airstream has to dig itself out of the quality drop caused by the pandemic and supply issues. See MotorTrend's brutal review, I'm sure you'll agree.
It is not a quality travel trailer. I’m hemorrhaging money and time, stranded since I picked up my new Pottery Barn, and Airstream has yet to get me back on the road, will not return calls or emails, only replacing the bare minimum, and puts up a harrowing and bullying argument any time I call.
This is a terrific tour! It is well worth a trip to Jackson Center Ohio to see this amazing state-of-the-art factory. Wether you are an Airstream owner, aficionado or simply appreciate this American icon, you will love taking the time for this tour!
I can't say enough good things about my Airstream Classic, and it's no surprise to see how much care goes into making them. I would definitely like to visit the factory one day
This was so good! It may not be immediately evident, but this is incredible marketing that's going to resonate with the types of people who buy Airstreams.
I stopped in a week ago to do the tour and while my Airstream is not the traditional Airstream(1989 Land Yacht aka Squarestream) I got lots of kind comments from some of your staff on it. I appreciate them squeezing me in for the tour. It was very interesting and a testament on how a quality product should be built.
Very impressive, wish they were more affordable while maintaining the same quality. We dream of someday getting one. Love the simplicity, longevity, and the quality airstream provides.
I know this is an old video, but we're thinking of buying a camper. This video has proved to me why the Airstream is worth the extra cost. The way they are built will probably save us money in the long run. Good job everyone.
Congratulations on the new plant. Super nice. I have always admired Airstream RV’s. However I can’t get my brain around the fact that they dent so easily. Never seen one on the road that didn’t have dings and dents. Also why are you still using antiquated bat insulation when spray foam performs so much better? Thanks
@@pv8340 the 2010 census says that Jackson Ohio is 98.1% white, and about 1% Latino/Hispanic. That leaves 1% to all other races. I think the factory just happens to be in literally the whitest city in America. Shits crazy 😂
Nicely done video showing how the Airstream trailer is built from start to finish. After seeing this, any buyer will feel confident that they are getting a quality product built by craftspeople who are invested in what they do. Thanks for sharing this interesting content.
I am on my fourth Airstream and have loved each one…currently a 2012 30 Ft Classic. The quality is unmatched from others. I certainly enjoyed this video and I found out a month ago that my first Cousin (Jay Kinney) is a good friend of Mr Humphreys and that is what makes this video special to me…If you don’t own an Airstream then you are missing out on life. Respectfully Terry Kinney
Going to pick up my Classic next week. We are upgrading from a 2020 25 footer. Really looking forward to having the additional space for our longer duration trips.
So many caravan owners here in Australia can only dream of vans built from the outside in with a large well built door. Expecially those those that have had to replace a fridge or other large part and had to cut the old fridge into pieces just to fit it out the door. Then they can only replace the fridge with a much smaller one to fit through back in the door.
One thing I took a hard at while at the factory, all the wood was solid hardwood, high quality plywood with laminations. No particle board, chipboard etc.
It's nice to know something's are still expertly hand crafted in the USA and that there are customers who can afford the cost of a new Airstream camper. Your new factory is nice but I am more impressed with the expertise of the employees working on the factory floor and above it. Everyone appeared to be working intently and seemed to be enjoying their task at hand. I'm sure they are all proud to be part of such an iconic American brand. It's the people that bring true value to a brand.
Awesome! While I don’t have an Airstream currently, I absolutely LOVED the 23’ Flying Cloud I had a few years ago. I’ll have another one in the future!
Outstanding...the overall quality assurance is the reason why airstream products hodl their value. Our next purchase of a trailer will be the airstream basecamp 16x REI.
Wow - love Airstreams - so many people working very hard - this was a true learning experience - so much person work - love the attention to detail - and the employees - they are making a very important product - which last for decades... Thank you from a poor sad Canadian. No money - too old - so far away but appreciates all the love put into these trailers.
Ever since I was a boy, Airstream Trailers have been part of American Culture. Their reputation for Workmanship is unparalleled in the RV Trailer Industry. If I had the means, I'd always wanted to buy a long Airstream Trailer.
Looks good. As a carpenter I appreciate both the quality of hand fitting and the emphasis on creating a waterproof envelope before the interior fit out is started.
I’ve been on holidays in a lot of caravans, some big and spacious and some small and cozy as hell but I’ve never had the experience of having a holiday in an airstream. I don’t know if the lady in England still converts old airstreams into British spec but i did however watch a shedload of videos in which the ones that she did convert were done to a fantastic standard and that’s why i enjoy videos like this because it showcases just how much quality and standard that goes into creating these works of art. 🙏
This is the same way how America became America you guys are keeping the gold standard and it’s just making me think why not why not buy one of these beautiful handmade products made in America God bless you and keep up the good work PS the best
Have been watching a RU-vid channel that talks about all the problems people have with RV’s. Then watched a RU-vid of a typical RV manufacturing processes built from inside out and was shocked at the poor quality. Impressed that Airstream tests their units for water leaks before the inside is finished. This seems to be the main problem most RV owners have. Must say Airstream proves you get what you pay for.
Very interesting, some similarities to aircraft building. Love the look and quality of these, but don't like Bumper Pull, would only get 5th wheel for stability and load over truck axle.
It would be great to actually hear from your employees; those with long service and newer hires. Many of us want to invest in companies that have strong employee engagement and career paths. Great tour.
I watched a video that Airstream came as a kit and the buyer assembled himself. My dad bought a 1959 Airstream and I liked it more than the 1968 Airstream that he bought later. Cheers
Hi Justin, my husband & I met you in Hershey this past September. We had a nice conversation while sitting in the Classic that was on display. Great video & I am looking forward to touring the facility sometime soon!
Fascinating, a whole lot different to what we in Australia do in this massive market. Which is better, darned if I know. The Airstream does look pretty aerodynamic and sexy.
We just received our 2023 Classic RBT. We spent the night at our dealership with full hookups to test everything out. They only had to address a couple of minor problems. One was as simple moving the shelfs that were installed with the top and bottom shelf was reversed. Airstream Quality Control has improved for sure. So far we really love it.
Okay, after we got home we notice the right side doors on the wardrobe closet was not turning the light out when closed. I the pushed on the upper left corner and it is about 1/4 inch away from the wall. I looked to see if the hinges could be adjusted and they are not designed to be. I contacted Airstream support seeing if they could send me a new door. I am waiting to hear back from them after sending them pictures and a video showing what the issue is. I will report back here once I hear back from them.
@@ericandalexlego It appears the only solution is replacing the whole exterior and interior panels. The width on my door opening is 27.5 inches. Others report theirs being 26.25 inches wide. The other option is producing a new door to address the issue. I am waiting to hear exactly what they will decide to do. Due to the weather I can't get back up to the factory until April anyway, so we have some time to figure it out. I will post an update here once things are settled.
Construction quality is the reason my 66 airstream land yacht it’s still usable. I would love to own one of the new airstreams but with my budget this old one fits my needs better and I can slowly update it as my budget allows.
Thank you for the tour. I am impressed with the water test and the cabinets after the structure process. Many other cheaper trailers use the cabinets to strengthen their sub-par structure of their trailer design. Having said this it is sometimes very difficult to validate your trailers extreme price. I also wish that the air conditioner could be integrated into the trailer rather than on top as it kills the aerodynamics of the original design.
Don’t make that mistake!!! Take my $180k loss to be your lesson. Airstream creates an emotionally charging and motivating video, but product and service are not to be trusted
I dismantled a crushed 'stream ( snow sliding off a roof, from a height, to be expected) and was amazed to see plain old carbon steel carraige bolts holding the aluminum bottom sill plate to the floor. Dissimilar metal corrosion was well advanced. This trailer was from the 60' to 70"s era.
@@Al_Dente-d1p No point I guess, just pointing out I saw an area that needed a design change. You just don't use carbon steel bolts up against aluminum long term. A bushing of phenolic or nylon to prevent direct contact while still maintaining the needed structural strength, or a stainless bolt would be better. I liked everything about it I saw when dismantling it, all the more so this issue surprised me.
@Navy1977 we preferred the 30' Classic because the 33' Classic had the recliners perpendicular to the dinette seating. This would make conversations difficult. Whereas the 30' had more of a conversational seating arrangement. When walking into the 30' you are met with an open area with a panoramic view. When you walk into the 33' you are met with a refrigerator. The bedrooms and bathroom in the 30' affords more privacy by being ables to double screen off guests at night. If you have to use the bathroom in the 33' at night you will be passing your guests just to use the bathroom. We do like the fact that the toilet "room" is separate from the shower stall and not contained in one room. While the drop down screen and bathroom in the 33' are really nice, we preferred the 30' due to our lifestyle. I hope this helps.
Justin, thank you for sharing this overview of your new factory and all of the love and attention that goes into producing the finest travel trailer ever. I'm looking forward to making my own purchase in the near future. I can only hope I have the opportunity to visit your beautiful facility there in Ohio.
No doubt they are a beautiful and well made trailer. I would have to walk through one to get a better understanding on how the lack of slide out sections impacts the space. Great video.
I’m not into camping but always thought airstreams seemed very expensive. Was smart to put out this short overview of the process because you can see where that cost comes from. Looks quality, also employing a lot of skilled people.
Almost bought a used Airstream form Posts in Columbus back in the eighties. Wish I had made the deal. Quite interesting that GM had produced a RV back in the day that kinda mimicked the look of an airstream. I have seen many RU-vidrs doing restorations from the frame up on older units. Very time consuming but the end results are fantastic. Back about 25 years ago I heard that one could take their Airstream back to the factory to have the interior upgraded basically a remodel, don’t know if it was true or not but that would be a niche market for the company to get into. Many successful years to the company and its employees!
A pretty awesomely built product…I wonder how many employees could afford to purchase one for themselves? **The little “Bambi” trailer (starts) at $59,300 and the big “Classic” starts at $188,100. Not for those without deep pockets unfortunately.
