It did feel like deja vu. Now, I know why. 😅 I will therefore repeat my two Ridley Scott recommendations from your prior posting. 😁 "Matchstick Men" and "Kingdom of Heaven (Director's Cut)."
In the film 300 there were words last spoken between The King & Queen, they were said by The King "Marry a good man and bare good Children." That is Love...
You upload again, I comment again! One of the movies guaranteed to make me tear up at the end - much of the credit for that goes to the fantastic music by Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard! Fun fact: Lisa sings that song (and many others) in a made up "language" she created, with heavy Mediterranean influences (as in, she takes influences from the languages spoken in that area), but also other influences, like Irish.
"Hello and welcome to my channel" I love hearing those words from you Aria. You are very good at this, so soothing and thoughtful. I hope next year brings you many thousands more subscribers. Hope you are well, take care.
In reality, Marcus Aurelius and his son Commodus were joint rulers for several years, after which the latter succeeded his father. The deaths of the two in the film are not historically accurate, but are presented for dramatic interest.
Claudius, the fourth Juleo-Claudian emperor, was poisoned by his last wife, Julia Agrippina (sister of Caligula, his predecessor as Emperor), and her son Nero, last of the Juleo-Claudians. At least according to Suetonius and Robert Graves.
Really enjoy your reactions, especially this one...Ridley Scott almost always delivers. FYI, contrary to popular belief, in ancient Rome, the thumbs-up sign from the emperor did not mean spare the life of the defeated opponent. It was the command to kill him. A thumbs-down was the order to let the defeated man live.
Russel Crowe as protagonist occupies 2 of my top 5 favorite movies. 'Gladiator' being one and 'Master and Commander - The Far Side of the World' being another. Love your reactions, Aria. You're very good at it. Keep 'em coming. 🤗
I love this movie and especially it's soundtrack so much 😍Glad you are reacting to it, i enjoyed it very much! I watched a RU-vid short some days ago where Phoenix talks about how terrified he was at the set (as it was his first role in a major production) and how he couldn't do the first scene because he was visibly shaking 😄 Idk but i thought it was kind of cute. And btw. since you mentioned the Marsian, have you watched Arrival or Interstellar yet? Two Sci-Fi masterpieces imo.
9:22. So did I..You saw him play English Bob in Clint Eastwood's "Unforgiven". This was his last movie before he died so RIP to Harris...59:10-That kid was also in "Unbreakable": and " Mystic River",great jobs, still acts as an adult, but in more low-key roles. Maximus kickimus buttimus!--Film deserved every award it got for sure..Can't wait to catch the sequel, looks pretty bad-azz by the trailers..
Especially, but not limited to that time period it was normal for royals to have siblings and other close family get together! It was normal for royals to keep the family pure by not mixing the genes with others outside their family. To give you a great example, Cleopatra wanted to be Queen but she couldn't unless she was married. She married the oldest of her 2 brothers. Years later he died so she then married her other brother in order to stay Queen. There are a LOT of other examples of such relationships to this day of Royal couples made up of siblings or cousins or Uncles and nieces! There are also such couples in entertainment. Singer Jerry Lee Lewis married his 13 year old first cousin (daughter of his aunt and uncle) 👱♀👱♀👗👗👠👠❤❤
Being three is no excuse... thanks for the reupload ;) I hope you try Ridley and Russell's 2nd outing together, 2006's The Good Year. It has Marion Cotillard in it, as well as Russell's wife from Gladiator in a cameo (who is actually Ridley's wife in real life). You don't have to do an official posting on it, but just something for you if you want something nice to sit back and enjoy on yer own time.
@@ariachanson01 I forgot to add that I didn't mean to presume that after your 'day gig' you'd want more movies to watch on yer own time, lol. But... these are little gems that you don't have to 'work' on, you can just sit back, throw on a pashmina/blankee, grab some munchies, and have a big ole grin on yer face the whole way through... Fabulous Baker Boys (Jeff Bridges and Michelle Pfeiffer. Enough said), Stranger Than Fiction, Guarding Tess, Shirley Valentine, Thomas Crown Affair (1999), Fly Away Home, Four Weddings & A Funeral, Bridget Jones's' Diary, The Lunchbox (2013)...
No. The story itself is not true. Commodus did not kill his father Aurelius or die in the Coliseum. He was strangled by his personal bodyguard as part of a palace coup. He killed sister, Lucilla, soon after he became emperor. He also spent a good amount of time with his father in Germania, so Aurelius could attempt to teach him to be a good emperor. It failed, he was terrible emperor. His decision to make peace with the barbarians rather than completely crush them led to the crisis of the 3rd century where Rome nearly collapsed.
The script is based on the Anthony Mann film: The Fall of the Roman Empire. There are some elements of truth: Marcus Aurelius, Commodus and his craziness. I belive there was also a general, who was favoured by Marcus.
It’s not based on a true story but some of the characters were real life people (Marcus Aurelius and Commodus). You should read Marcus Aurelius Meditations. It’s still in print and is the foundation of the Stoic movement.
Cold Mountain (2003) is another essential viewing film. Sweeping, epic war / drama / love story set against the closing years of the US Civil war. It compares with Last Samurai and Braveheart. Brief synopsis: 3 years into the war, wounded Confederate soldier Inman has had enough of killing and abandons his post to make the *long* journey back home to his state and his love, Ada. The distance he has is something like 1 to 2 state's worth of walking and he's wanted by both sides now. The film cuts back and forth between Inman's journey and Ada's struggle to stay alive during the very difficult war years. Themes includes love, friendship, the horrors of war and the unbreakable human spirit. Bring hankies. ♥ It's based on the famous fiction historical novel of the same name by Charles Frazier.
@@dannyb9209 I've never spoke to anyone who has seen it that didn't like it. Lot's of people haven't heard of it though. I'm longing to see it again. But I'm waiting for Aria or Jen Murray to do it. How about a collaboration reaction with Jen, Aria? :D
30:12 ..IT was...even in tiny Denmark. 37:35 YAAAHOOO! Sven-Ole Thorsen....ALAS he is NOT from Gaul 😛 44:05 Bruh/bro...as in Brother?(DO NOT watch Cleopatra! Lotsa' Macedonian "pure blood" in that one ;- )
Hello Aria C., if this movie is a repeatense. The I have already written that the producers lifted a portion of the soundtrack from the movie ' Zulu " (Michael Caine's first movie) to give shouts to German Warriors. It must be humorous to be from South Africa or Germany to hear ancient Germans doing these shouts in the Zulu language?
Hello, if you don’t mind, can you do a movie reaction on a movie called, 1492: Conquest of Paradise. Adventure/Drama (1992). It stars Gérard Depardieu, Siqourney Weaver, Armand Assante. It portrays a version of the travels to the New World by the Italian explorer Christopher Columbus and the effect this had on indigenous peoples. Directed by Ridley Scott.
