Due to the over emphasis placed on special anointings and laying on of hands, by many of the Pentecostal and hyper-charismatic brethren, we need to look at what God’s Word says about the claimed transferring of an anointing. The laying on of hands has become a Pentecostal tradition that is far removed from its original meaning in Scripture.
Many people are still being taught today, that they need to get an impartation from some anointed preacher.
This is contrary to Scripture, which states that we all have the same standing before God “Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16)
All believers have the same Holy Spirit and Christ as our mediator. We can all receive from Jesus, Who is the One we should all be seeking.
Going to a certain person or meeting to seek an anointing by impartation is unbiblical. No other person is to be our mediator to receive the Holy Spirit of gifts of the Holy Spirit. Whenever men become mediators, Christ’s teachings diminish, and men’s teachings increase. We are then giving those men control over our lives, and not the Lord Jesus.
