A compilation of photos and bass lines dedicated to one of rock's coolest bass players, Greg K. Sure, he doesn't play much that's too complicated, but he is still the man. I also realize there are a lot more Offspring songs that could be included in this video, but I got lazy. I probably should've put in clips of him playing live, too. Here's the song list:

Just like the uploader says, his bass lines never are that complex or intricate, but the band knows how to put it in the spotlight and make it snap. I love that.

"What Happened to You" also has a kickass bassline, throughout the entire song. Listen carefully; it doesn't follow the guitars. Greg K plays some of his best stuff in the ska-style songs, and "I Choose," and "Spare Me the Details."

The Offspring are experts in giving instruments solo spots and then adding other instruments one by one. Awesome examples for this are The Noose, Trust in you, Have you ever, ...

@IxnayOnT3hHombre Yeah, Offspring In The Studio. One of the parts introduces all the band members, and Greg K points out a blister on his hand from playing bass. I think he says "Yup." to the camera guy asking the questions. Also, in The Making of She's Got Issues, there was a part on youtube where he said, "I love Mrs. Edmonds" and laughed. But even in the intro to that video, he just waves at the camera and Dexter says, "He only speaks when necessary" or something like that haha.

Someone at Bass Player Magazine hated Greg. They reviewed his bass tracks on one of their albums as "....his recorded in a garbage can tone..." I never understood that. Either it was a goof or someone disliked the guy. I'm glad they sold their publishing rights for $35 million to Round Hill Music which is based in New York.

@muhmilchmann It's Hopeless by Manic Subsidal - that was The Offspring before they came up with the name Offspring. There used to be a site that hosted all sorts of Offspring rarities and you could download it. Otherwise, you'll have to find one of the old demo tapes or just rip it off youtube.

6:00 Pure Punk euphoria; not that it ever did anyone any good, we all have stupid parents and have to waste our youths in public school, we all need money and have to waste our young adulthoods working at loser jobs, and we all get old. But Jesus H. Fucking Christ does the song Smash ever rock. Period. The Offspring kick total ass. They've lived more life in their time than any loser politician, any cocksucking psychopathic bureaucrat or any other piece of shit that fancies themselves 'powerful'.

Phenomenal Offspring tune; it's actually written about a Canadian gang-stalking target from the middle 1980s. Great Offspring shit, in grand Punk tradition, it's all about how fucked the world is and how the powerful people in the world are frequently shit-eating losers (especially in a weak-ass loser's country like Canada). Man am I ever gonna get flamed for writing that, but that's actually what All I Want is all about!!

Dexter6662 They're all old farts now too, but most people have to endure becoming old farts--and the Offspring kick total ass at it. Beats being an old geezer lamer who's primary concern in life is his stock portfolio and whether the grass needs mowing, or how clean and tidy the house is, or other old-fart-lamer horseshit like that. Green Day seem to deal well with getting old too, few human beings can. GD kick ass as well
