Baringo County is one of the 47 Counties of Kenya. It is located in the former Rift Valley Province. Its headquarters and largest town is Kabarnet. The county is home to Lake Baringo. Three of the GTL partner schools reside in this region; Mogotio, Pemwai, and Kapropita majority of the girls in these schools come from marginalized communities and have families whose primary source of income is pastoralist activities. Other than this, Female Genital Circumcision is common and girls are married off while young. Supporting girls in this region is key to empowering them and their families.

Growth Through Learning ( GTL) supports education and development in East Africa by providing full secondary education scholarships for exceptional young women in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania who would otherwise be unable to afford an education beyond primary school. GTL encourages cross-cultural exchange of information and ideas, especially promoting women’s empowerment in East Africa.
The GTL changemakers project seeks to visit all the 14 partner schools we currently have in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania and document conversations, share visual content towards both our scholars, their parents and guardians. As well as the headteachers and staff who support the students attain their goals.
