I visited Rosslyn Chapel in 2016. Definitely worth a visit, I loved it. And, the cafe crew were so sweet ... they explained to my friend that IRN-BRU is what she needed for her vicious hangover. The Scottish soda did help her out, in fact.

Loved that Kirsten did not allow you to overlook William the Chapel cat....I was very fortunate to have him crawl onto my lap whilst sitting in the chapel - he allowed me quite an extensive petting session! Rosslyn is gorgeous....it is a shame photos are not allowed inside...but thank you for that wonderful visit!

The Scottish National Museum have the records of all the local stone quarries with the list of all the main buildings and which quarry the stone came from. A fact I made good use of, working on Fettes I required stone to repair a small section, Checked out at the museum and discovered we were also doing stone work at the sheriff court, built with the same stone, from the same quarry.

💙 I love Rosslyn Chapel!! 💙 - the dramatic placement, at the top of the embankment - the exquisite, quirky architecture(who doesn't love a gremlin/ghoul) - the atmospheric mood (bc I always feel set back in time) The visitor's center is truly informative and they have some of the largest scones ever, in the cafeteria!! 🤣 I have a picture of the windows from the outside, that are taken on a sunny May day!! Wish I could post, bc they are stunning!! 👍 Thanks Kerstin & Tony - love from Denmark 🌸💕🌱

The 37 goes to Roslin, not the 39. I live in Penicuik and I don't have a car, so I'm fairly certain on this point. But wow, they have super commercialised it since the last time I was there in 2006. Back then is was still mostly just a functional local church.

Nice old church! Tell us more about the history. Did William Wallace meet in a cave down in that river valley? Are there any old cemeteries with ghost stories from the past? We visited your neck of the woods last June for a week and loved it. So beautiful and full of history.

Thanks so much for this, and all your videos-they’re great. We’re going to be in town in a month; Edinburgh will be the first place I visit outside of North America, ever. Can I ask: we actually plan to visit Rosslyn on our second morning there, and we're considering then going back to Edinburgh for lunch, and on to Falkirk in the afternoon to see the Kelpies and the Wheel. In your opinion, is this sensible course of action, or is it too much to do in one day? Thank you again! Scritch Merlin and Neville for us.
@ClanBroonford
@ClanBroonford 5 лет назад
Hi, thank you so much. I have gotta be honest, i think you are chancing your luck a little bit. mostly for the travel. If you are driving i would recommend going to Rosslyn then going straight to Falkirk. If you are not driving and taking the bus you are really going to struggle. I think they are more likely to be a day trip each.

Nice little insight to the Chapel - thanks... BUT my plans to go are now scuppered (slightly) if I cannot take photos of the beauty inside. H & S my arse! It's a"policy" but surely not law - I'm sure I could go into my local church (or Salisbury Cathedral ) and take photos, no problem). How are people suppose to get a good appreciation of carvings and sculptures at ceiling height? It doesn't say anything about walking around inside with binoculars or a zoom lens so maybe that's the thing to do. Disappointed now.

@@ClanBroonford Well, you have already done the Roslyn Chapel and touched on the Knights of the Temple, and one of your videos had the Grand Lodge of Scotland in the background commenting the excellent statuary decor of the main entrance. The Grand Lodge of Scotland does tours, might be fun to take the tour and see if they will allow you to video it. Could be easy and interesting. I bet that there are some really nice shops in Edinburgh that deal in Freemasonry items. I know that I would appreciate knowing about such retailers. The Royal Family holds the Hereditary Title of Grand Master of The Order. But, I understand that the subject is very exhaustive. I thank you for all of the videos that you have provided so far.
