@@cold-wolf they are uncomfortable for a lot of people, including myself. It sounds so flat that it sounds very similar to my $3 earbud. Noise cancellation is somewhat average. Did some reasearch on this, and it seems like everyone is recommending to replace earpads, buy a shorter cord and probably a hard case. this will add up to almost $200 including shipping, making it not worth the price.
I LOVE my M40x's but they broke on both sides right above the ear cups, and a lot of folks said the same thing, so AT should improve the build. But for around $80 the sound is incredible. I'd be very cautious stretching them out the way you do. I guarantee they will eventually snap, and I was never very rough with mine. Honestly though, I like them so much I bought a replacement pair and got some cool blue aftermarket ear pads. These are my main studio monitoring cans. Lightweight, uber comfortable and clear sounding. My Sennheiser HD600 are for more critical listening. Great review. Cheers!
I was planning on picking up m50x, then came across many comments and reviews saying m40x is better. End result I'm glad I didn't rush and get them. Now just ordered a pair of m40x.
Just ordered mine for £79.99. Can't wait for tuesday! Thanks for the review you were straight to the point unlike other reviewers and you seem like such a nice guy. Thanks! :)
A very helpful demo ! Thanks for making and posting this ! I think I'll buy some from GC this weekend. I've been using cheap $20 Koss ones and my guitar strings crackle through them.
You keep reviewing my favorite headphones haha. You cannot go wrong with the M40x, they are my favorite closed-back cans and just sound incredible out of my Shanling M0 and EarStudio ES100. Have you thought of trying the HD 58X Jubilee? It's probably the best headphone under $150, imo.
Helpful tip If you brake the coil cable accidentally which is easy to do, you could get the cable to fit nicer in a pocket by puting some of the cable in a nice cicrular thing and use some velcro things from Amazon to make the long non coil cable shorter. I have 2 pairs and I am glad I have 2 long cables, one I made easier to have in my pocket and 1 I have made easier to use with my monitor and interface. Yes I make music stuff with my interface and/or monitor speakers and/or headphones sometimes.
Bonjour. Est t’il possible de remplacer le cordon 3.5mm ? Si le cordon se casse. Peux t’on le remplacer avec un acheté dans le commerce 3.5mm ? Merci pour la réponse.
I'd like to replace my current Audio-Technica. It's not audio quality -that's excellent. The problem: in less than 2 years one of the ear pads stitching is busted and it's also not the most comfortable fit. Hopefully, this won't fit the same. The M40x falls right within my budget. Can someone recommend an alternative at the same level and price point if these don't work as expected?
Thanks for putting out some new content. Always like your take on headphones. Wonder if you have ever heard of Thinksound and Cleer? Have the On1's from Thinksound and the Du Bluetooth from Cleer. The On1's are wood on-ear headphones and the Du have duel 40mm drivers in each ear cup.
hey man, i just unboxed a set of headphones you have to try out!! i just got the skullcandy low riders from the skullcandy website, on sale for $20! i think you need to try these because the sound quality is extremely impressive for the price!
no they do not have good audio quality there is too much bass and overall clearness is lacking. you're making it obvious that you have never had a pair of audiophile headphones.
@@carsonj4031 actually I do, I own the Sennheiser hd579 and the audio Technica ath ad500x, I'm only saying that for $20 they don't sound that bad, don't get me wrong, they're not good by any means
I'm on my 2nd pair of AKG K240DF and am looking for a studio monitor in a wireless design. I've tried the M40 in the store and yes, I'm sold on those!!
Dude go for senheiser 4.40.Its convenience kills any advantage these have on sound quality. My headphones are cloud alpha.M50x is more accurate than M40x.Go to rtings.com to compare these two and see what I mean.
miguel hernandez hernandez It's near impossible to find a smaller cable with inline mic for these.they have no small cable. No audio controls.Senheiser 4.40 bt will be my pick.During sale you can get 4.50 btnc special edition for 100 bucks too which is a steal compared to these two.
Came across your channel whilst watching Ps4 headset reviews. What Would you say the best Ps4 headsets are? Wired/Wireless doesn't really matter. Looking to buy a new headset.
Hmmmm....that's really tough. Honestly my favorite wireless set is the Razer Thresher Ultimate or the Turtle Beach Stealth 800. Less expensive wireless sets would be the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 and the HyperX Cloud Flight. Wired I would go with the new ones from HyperX designed specifically for the PS4 or the Corsair HS50. Hope this doesn't make it more confusing.
@@OfficialGamesky Thanks for the reply.. I was edging more towards the wireless and the Stealth 800 was probably the choice. Never considered Razer before, Stealth 800 and Astro A50 was what I was thinking. I just need to decide now between the 800 and threshers. Watched both reviews and can't decide. 🙈
Lovely video, I am thinking of getting these. I had a query/concern, hoping you can address it… Many people complain with the M50x, that they are taxing on the ears after a while, that they make the ears hot, thus making it uncomfortable to listen for longer periods. What’s the scene for the M40x? Are the comfortable for long durations?
playing with them 7-8 games in dota2 every day. Yeah they can be uncomfortable if you playing more than 2 hours.. but not much. I don't have a big head though.
I'd agree with you, though, after having experience with the akg m220 (aka akg k240 with a slight bass boost), there is nothing that works as well as those. I have tried many headsets at the same price range from my local retailer, but the akgs were just the ones for me.
is the m40x originally has high clamping force and the headband is flat when being worn as it stretches ? because it looks weird where the headband looks flat as it rest on my head so was wondering whether is it a defective unit ?
Bonjour.
Αre these headphones good for gaming?? Also, do I have to buy a separate DAC to connect them or my motherboard would do just fine? (Pretty high end rog board, bought it around 300$).
Watching this video while using the ath m40x on my phone. by the way i want to use it on my computer usb port.since my pc 3.5mm port is not working, Does using a 3.5mm to usb sound card would affect the sound quality? Thank you
@@OfficialGamesky thanks for the reply. I recently bought replacement pads and was told they were genuine. They look more like your pads now. Perhaps they do have different batches of pads.
ToXic_ Venom Don't ever get any gaming headset. Ever. If you really want the hyper X, the takstar pro80 and a modmic seem to be literally the same product (except for the mic).
Can someone let me know what to do with the 6.5 driver? I use the regular 3.5 on the PS4 controller and my phone but the quality/volume is low. Normally the turtle beaches that are 8 years old slap vs this.
Would these headphones turn on the dac on my LG g7, if not can you recommend any of your videos for a set of headphones in the same price range that will suit my g7? Would really appreciate it, I've been looking pretty hard for a pair of over ear.
They're kind of a tight fit for me but bearable. (I not only have a big head but low ears.) I bought a replacement set of Brainwavz angled pads and that seemed to help.
