THIS IS THE REVIEW I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR. For those who don't have an unlimited ammo budget take your new gun make sure it is empty remove the magazine, now sit on your couch put on your favorite movie and start racking the slide. Do that a few hundred times and you will have advanced your break in by a considerable amount.
Doing this also taught me that psa dagger firing pins are garbage that break after dry fire. Luckily it broke at home, so i could buy an actually good firing pin.
Not an influencer. My mags were labeled. That's bunk. Sorry, big guy. (And for the record, I love mine so far. Only 150 rounds or so through it but so far it's off to a good start.) I do find it interesting that you found it more snappy than the 365. I've had a 365 SAS for a few years and I actually thought my cc9 was a little less jumpy. Didn't shoot them side by side, though, so maybe my perception was just off that day. In any event, I appreciate the review! Happy to give you a subscribe. I like your stuff.
I've been binge watching these HK CC9 videos trying to decide whether I should splurge on one or not when I already have something that's in the same category. Your video was exactly what I was looking for. It might be the first non influencer HK CC9 video I've seen in the dozens of videos I've seen
You’re right…also the Canik Mete MC9 comes with 15 round mags, a mediocre but decent holster, tools, and it comes standard cut for an optic. I really like my 9 plus too.
Not an influencer and I got one and my magazines were labeled, just saying. Anyways, I appreciate the down-to-earth, straightforward review and the way you get right down to business without the fluff. Thanks for the video!
Just picked one up yesterday at a local gun range - can confirm mine had those round labels at the bottom so don't think it was an influencer variant. Also put down about 100 rounds so far and it does have a bit of kick but manageable with good grip fundamentals. Maybe just me being a baby but felt slight discomfort from kick on the webbing near thumb.
I started out with 1911s, and got a Sig 320, and eventually an HK P30.. That handgun fit my hand perfect out of the box. Never had anything feel like it. The CC9 has that same feel. Great review!
The Taurus reference is due to the way it looks not the way it's built. I'm sure it is a quality build however, it is the HK that doesn't look like an HK. Compare it side by side witb the P2000, Vp9sk, P30sk etc... you'll see where it seperates itself from the brand. We wanted the SFP9CC. Looks like an HK, mini vp9.
I’m aware. It looks like a Taurus g3c mixed with a Taurus TH9. My point is the looks don’t matter, I buy hk for function. I don’t think any hk’s are very attractive. Respect!
@@DTWCT Don't think that's actually true, at least currently. The serial number is on the frame, so a different frame would also have to be serialized. Teufulshund Tactical said the FCU was for rigidity not modularity, but that main change int the future.
@@DTWCTbut like the echelon unfortunately a year later and all we have is aftermarket and factory colors for frames still waiting for the aggressive texture frame and they just release another echelon but with a comp 😭 the only company that ran with the modularity is sig which is already flooded with size and comfort frames for the same or less as this hk with a broad spectrum of parts holsters and accessories. The only reason I see to buy this hk is because it says hk in my opinion
It does look like a Taurus. As for the price I’m seeing these go for, it doesn’t do anything different that my optics ready Shield Plus doesn’t already do and I’m a little bummed it doesn’t have the paddle release. I’m sure they’ll sell a lot but I won’t be buying. Great video as always 👍
And you don't have to sell that shield every time you go shoot, they'll say, oh man that's a shield.. and when you shoot that h&k, they're going to say, look at that Taurus you cheap basard and you're going to have to sell it every time you go shooting... No it's an HK.. well you should have got a Taurus..😂
@@HammersOverStrikers Except S&W doesn't make anything even close in quality to an HK. The Shield Plus has been plagued with a lot of problems and recalls. They beta test their customers just like Sig does. HK did the R&D on this gun for at least 5 years before releasing it. You know it's perfect out of the gate or at least you should know that. More importantly I bet this pistol shoots straight and to POA/POI. Something the S&W M&Ps OF ANY KIND don't usually......
I wish they kept the paddle mag release and would prefer a no optic cut option but will just deal with those two issues. I recently dumped all my micro 9’s (P365, P365xl, Shield Plus and Glock 43x) and went to my VP9SK for the rare occasions I carry a semi auto but I ordered this today as soon as I got to work. Will pick it up when I get my Xmas bonus discount in addition to my regular and it will be 25% off.
I did the same thing bro, stick with the vp9sk, and if i need to carry something lighter in gym shorts or something, i carry a keltec p17.. 10rds of 22lr stacked in the same 1inch group will mess up most anything.. for $150 its not something im afraid of breaking while running.. vp9sk for everything else
@@FL-Kaiman I carry a semi auto maybe 1% of the time my EDC is my Ruger SP101 3” 327. That said my buddy got his CC9 and we put 500rds down range yesterday and I’m beyond impressed with the CC9. It was flawless I’ve seen so many say it’s so snappy and I didn’t find that to be the case at all and the trigger was amazing better than any micro 9 I’ve tried yet, again it won’t replace my 327 but will definitely enter the occasional edc rotation.
sarasota fl here, just got power back on from Hurricane Milton, in my mind anything H&K / Glock is amazing it just works every time. keep up the content SPN. You practice what you preach as well. keep working man you're doing good. I wanna see you hit 1m subs.
Thank you for the honest working mans take on this sidearm. I am disappointed that it has no paddle mag release version as well? Maybe because this version is 🇺🇸 made? At this point I wonder if I should contemplate the Kimber Mako instead 🤔 Great vid and thanks for the info 👍
Those mag stickers were on the gun I purchased from my LGS. Hoping to get it out to the range asap. I was pleasantly surprised by the overall feeling of quality, and the trigger was another pleasant surprise. Great review and thanks for sharing.
So, thanks for your honest review, much appreciated especially after reading many disappointing comments about it. I would like it if you showed how to disassemble it, does it have the recoil reduction spring like the USP, does it have polygonal rifling like the USP? Show the slide rails, etc. I know it’s early, maybe the next video (after you put 100 rounds through it). Thanks, love your vids!
It does not have the recoil reduction spring like the USP (big loss IMO - should be standard on all HK pistols). Its recoil assembly is more like a refined VP9. It does have polygonal rifling. 3.32" barrel.
That’s my main thing when I think about buying certain types of guns… “would I rely on this weapon to protect myself and my family.” Generally speaking, I trust Glock and HK with my life. I know the testing and track record. I know the R&D HK puts into their guns. I know the time HK puts into their guns. This gun was developed for 7 years I believe and that is something I care about. I will likely purchase one and it will likely be in my carry rotation with my Glock 26.
My very first handgun was a H&K many years ago, and my very last one is also a H&K. Good start but I don’t think it will be my last unless my wife discovers that I was saving for my own Christmas present which is this one in the video. Lol. Thank you for your great advice 👏
The VP9 was my first handgun and I used it for everything. Conceal carry, home defense etc. I have over 10k rounds thru it and I've yet to have an issue. The only thing I've done to it was have it milled for an optic. When the VP9SK came out that became my primary concealed carry gun. I'd say I have about 5k rounds thru it give or take and I've had no issues with it and the only modification I made to it was getting an optic milled into it. Are they more expensive than other similar guns, yes, but in my opinion it's worth it. I haven't gotten a chance to handle one but I think the lack of side grip panels could be a deal breaker for me. The reason I like the VP9s so much is the ability to customize the grip so it fits your hand like a glove and I don't think you're going to be able to do that with this one. I hope I'm wrong and that you get great ergonomics with it.
2:03 Disagree on the whole card board box thing. I love my Smith and Wesson but they call come in those stupid cardboard box. You $400 $500 on a gun they can give me a bag for thing.
I really appreciated your review on this. I know you have a Stoeger STR-9 MC. I was wanting your opinion on how the HK compares with it. I picked up the STR-9 MC in the gun store the other day and was impressed by the trigger. For almost half the price of the Hk, I think it is a good deal. Is the HK worth the extra coin in your opinion?
Which would you rather carry? The sig 365 or H&K? Or better question? Which would you recommend someone to purchase today. if price is not an issue? New H&K or sig 365?
@@strawdemindset you see, there's a reason for that price difference... One has been designed and tested for over 7 years, 750,000 rounds, passed NATO torture testing, and is using very high quality materials like a polygonal rifled barrel CHF'd from canon grade steel. The other started out as a literal sloppy rip-off of a Walther PPQ from Turkey... I would personally never trust my life to a Canik. HK, Glock, FN and S&W fill that role and I personally think the S&W is the best option if money is an issue.
@@Berserkable There's no such thing as "NATO torture testing". That's marketing. This thing isn't made for NATO. It's made for the US civilian market. Anyone who owns an HK knows they cut corners for their civilian products (Such as non chrome-lined barrels for the MR223 and MR762). This will prove no different.
How does this directly compared to the 43x overall ? Which would be a better buy ? Especially in countries where you may be only limited to own very few handguns.
Well HK and GLOCK are the original polymer frame pistols. Everybody else is a knockoff and after the fact years and even decades later. You can draw your conclusion by just that fact alone. BOTH are going to be better than the others. Whichever you like best and have the money for.
There's only one thing I REALLY want to know about it, that basically nobody ever covers. I'm left handed, is that right side slide release actually functional, or is it uselessly stiff?
Being this late to game, you would think that it had something to set it apart from all the other options, like 15+ 9mm flush fit capacity in shield size gun. Instead, its just another good for a month then joining the used market when the next big release drops
This is a great review! The micro comparison I'd like to hear about is with the FN Reflex, and it would be nice to hear some comparison talk between the CC9 and VP9. The Reflex is my summer carry at work (electrician) and the VP9 is my "when I can hide it" carry at work because, of the guns I own, I shoot it the best. So my bottom line question is can the CC9 replace the VP9 for EDC when it comes to shootability, especially at farther distances like 20-40 yards. That's where the Reflex falls short for me due to size - not because I can't shoot it at those distances, but shooting it as accurately gets way harder than with the VP9.
The finish looks nice. I'm not sure how to really know or test it though except for just long term use. For me, I think the finish is one of the most important features on a gun. They added it on handgun hero in the last 24 hours. It's just a little larger than a P365 in every dimension except for it being the same thickness. On paper it's 0.99" compared to the P365's 1.00". It appears to have a higher bore axis... but a lot of people say that don't matter much. It still seems like a good carry gun though. It's gonna be hard to compete though with it being larger than all the others. I'd still buy one if the prices was right though.
Nice review man. I appreciate all the honestly and comparison’s. This was really well done for a quick follow up at range. Just surprised you guys didn’t use the 10; a single mag at the range is like pulling weeds
Fantastic review. Thank you for giving it to us straight. I thought for sure you were not going to like the gun, I'll wait a bit for holsters before diving in, though.
I personally like my 26 better but this fits the role of being smaller, lighter with capacity better. I can completely understand if someone bought this over a 26! Respect
@@Crews1 Get the Shield Plus, you'll be happy with it as long as you like how it feels in your hand. Look into Talon Grips if the grip feels too rough.
Honestly, I don't know if I'm more relieved that HK didn't think customers needed stickers to explain the magazine capacity or more concerned that they thought their GunTubers did.
I'm going to wait for a good amount of these to circulate. I've heard of the USA branch of HK having QC issues in the past. The CC9 is made entirely in the US factory, with nothing from Germany going into it. But I don't work for HK, so I don't really know what went into this.
Really? I've never heard anything bad about em. I thought all they had were some HK45s and even though they say Made in USA I believe they were German parts kits assembled in the US with a US frame. I do know a lot of HK aficionados refuse to get one just because it's not German though. But I haven't heard of any QC issues.
You go to h&k issues and wow, it's a full page. I just really don't see that many of them out there. I always wait about 6 months before I jump on the bandwagon, but I did hear they were putting this out in a 40 cal also.. might be some Glock 27 competition
My VP9 has been flawless. Just based on the reviews I’ve seen on the CC9, I think the SK is a larger pistol. I’m not sure if you can run extended magazines in the CC9, but you can with the SK. Another drawback for me is the fact that this review indicated that it was “snappier” than the P365. When I was in the market for a sub-compact pistol, I shot the P365 and it was most definitely a snappy gun. I finally settled on the SK and have not been disappointed.
My carry gun is a P365XL with a standard P365 grip and I swapped out the front sight because it was shooting low. I hate shooting it, but it is the most comfortable carry gun I've ever had. I forget I even have it sometimes. The only reason I would buy this is because of their claim of rigorous testing, but I don't know if I trust that claim. Every gun company claims they have the most durable and reliable gun because it's a bar none of their customers will ever reach.
@@JDMSiR9 Sadly, even though I hold a conceal carry license, I live in a state where I can't carry more than 10 rounds in the magazine. Having the bigger grip only serves to make the gun harder to conceal with no real benefit.
Rail aside if you could only choose between the Shield carry comp and this what would you go with? Also maybe next vid can we see some size comparisons since you pretty much have all the micros lol
SPN awesome review. I'm stuck on why would I buy this with the capacity it has instead of hellcat, hellcat pro, masada slim or a shield 2.0...what is the advantage for the extra money for a short barrel CCW that is gonna give you the same "good enough" accuracy in a defensive shoot situation as you said? I own all those firearms. The feel cannot be that much better lol. Just an objective opinion and not a critique of the review points you made at all.
So….I’ve been studying your reviews on micro nines for a while now. Great non nonsense honest comparisons by the way! I decided on the Shield plus after all that….now I’m confused… I’m familiar with both brands..do you think the HK is worth $200 more and does it “do the job” better?
It's probably worth the 200 bucks more, however my carry rotation includes a shield plus, hellcat, and glock 43x, but I carry the hellcat most of the time
A little constructive advice .............. Open with TLDR summary and mix several ammo types and weights in the opening break-in period. Curious to see if the HK will feed steel cased ammo. My Glocks, Sig, and CZs do.
It's it's a labeled influencer gun ("stealthily" labeled by the capacity), it's probably because those guns are specifically picked out and tested to make sure they work and won't have problems in the initial reviewer videos.
Nice vid. I am not a shill either; mine had the sights off 2mm (unacceptable in a "quality" gun). It's 50gr (1.8oz) heavier than a 365 (12rd). The manual doesn't say which screws to use for sights... NOW: open it and inspect your slide inside and the barrel. Mine were nicely lubed (by me) and after shooting barrel is has so many friction marks and the slide , where the barrel fits on the sides. This finis is just like a Palmetto State..... I was thrilled to get one.....HAD to get it .... and was a let down. NO function problems.
Those friction marks or as they are referred to on a Sig Sauer "smiley faces" are actually a good thing. You don't have a rattletrap firearm and it's close tight tolerances which make them more accurate than sloppier fit guns. As for the 2mm off in the sights....here in America we use thousandths of an inch in 0.000" for that. That also means little to nothing unless the gun was MOUNTED in a rest or on bags. User error isn't a guns fault.
@@JohnDoeEagle1 Well I have seen hundreds of guns (barrels) and only this one and palmetto show this multitude of lines....not talking about the smile mark on most at the distant tend. And the slide marks from the barrel lug side, it's almost what people called peening on the initial Sig 365 release. And finally 2mm off center, be that whatever you want in inches (it's the same once converted) equal 2" off center at 8yd. Yes if your had shakes a lot....it doesn't matter, mine doesn't.
@@talega1 I'm talking Classic P-Series Sig Sauers like the P-226, P-220, P-228, P-229. Also higher end 1911s do this. It's a interference fit or "hard fit" whatever nomenclature you want to use. 2mm means nothing to a Yank. 0.020" does....
Best review on this yet. Looking into buying a 9mm and i think this one is worth checking out. My HK'S (P2000 and usp40 compact) are in 40 cal. The 9mm will be mostly for range fun. Can't replace my 40 compact daily carry.
