We take the new 2023 Can-Am Outlander PRO HD5 and put it to work by hauling a trailer full of lumber and loading the racks with big rubber mats. See how it fares next to an Outlander XT700 as well doing the same work.
Let us know your thoughts on the redesigned Can-Am Outlander in the comments below.

Glad i saw this video. You answered questions i didn’t know I had about the Pro. After seeing this and knowing what I will be using one for I’m leaning towards the pro model.

As a long time Can AM Outlander owner, I am thinking the Pro models might just be the best option; stiffer suspension, selectable front locker.. seems pretty good.

I’m getting the hd7 pro hunting edition not specifically for work but because it comes with the features I want in a quad. Power steering ✔️ Front bumper✔️ Rear bumper ✔️ Full skid plate ✔️ Winch ✔️ Camo ✔️ Visco 4 lock ✔️ Decent speed ✔️ Built in storage ✔️

@@Dusdaddy That’s some good feedback to hear, thanks! I heard they are coming out with the 2024’s in Aug. I really hope they don’t change much if anything because I love the 2023s. So If little to no changes I will get the 24 but if not I’m getting the 23 in Aug.

@@fromontario6954 Hard to tell if they will alter the 850/1000s to the new chassis and suspension set-up to resemble the 500/700. I'm guessing not but hey, we had no idea these were coming.

Would you say the hunt model is worth it? I’m stuck between the base model and the hunt. I’m not sure how much more useful the electronics are it’s my first atv. I’m going to be mostly using it for moose hunting and hauling meat in Alaska.
@Dusdaddy
@Dusdaddy 10 месяцев назад
@@Kram2462 Hunting and hauling moose in Alaska? My 1st choice would be a Defender 6x6 w/cab, 2nd an Outty 1000 6x6. As for the hunt model, it depends on what you need; I needed skids, winch, and locker. I added heated grips and handguards. $12.8K OTD

500 Kingquad rider, work the crap out of it, just hitting 10.000 km, but this unit sounds perfect for what I do with it. I find traction, more than power, is the limiting factor for hauling gravel up hills to fill potholes, firewood out of a muddy bush trail. The extra weight might be a benefit.

This is a pro xu not a regular pro. Got the pro xu hd7 and love it. Less expensive than a grizz or top of the line honda and has more features and feels faster. Would have never bought a can am until now. Been a honda fan. Wanted a Grizzly but saved 3k and got something better imo.

Great video. That looks like a good, well-thought-out machine... When it's new. What will it look like in 5 years? Is it a "work machine (therefore predicted to be replaced on the company dime, on a fleet schedule every 4 years)" or a "work machine (this thing better last and work without much hassle and generate a net gain rather than a net loss)"? Good job differentiating the HD Pro from the regular model, that is something the spec sheet won't easily reveal.

Nice job testing it out. Haven't had one come in yet, but we will. Even people buying utility machines ask about the top speed, or horsepower. Amazing. I expect that from the sport sxs crowd since they might look indestructible and fast sitting still, just add giant tires and every accessory they can cram on their machine then they find out what breaks! You can't hear any noises with that aftermarket exhaust and speakers banging out tunes as loud as possible. Clutches, axles, transmissions, and motors pushed past their limit without proper maintenance or fluid and filter checks. When you tear open an engine that drained itself due to a hole the size of a baseball and a connecting rod with a 90 degree angle near where the piston used to be, and the customer is in disbelief that it might have been their fault, I just go out back to the boneyard and laugh my ass off. Later Stephen.

I had a Can Am 570 and enjoyed owning it. It had a few issues though which meant I changed manufacturer to Suzuki. It's main issues for my requirements (commercial forestry) were a lack of ground clearance and no fully lockable front diff was unforgivable. Given these issues have now been resolved I have now ordered an Outlander Pro XU HD7. Certainly on paper it looks like a winner. Time will surely tell.

Wouldn’t the Xt perform the same with a different spring pre load setting? They have 5 “clicks” of adjusting
@ethanmunger3374

Spring preload only adjusta rise height unless shocks are fully extended. Even when you add preload the spring rate is the same it just extends the shock further.

The 500/700 should get the selectable front locker. And does anyone know if a universal 2up like the Nomad or Black Boar can be added to these bikes now that the rear rack is sunken?.. i guess a filler piece would be needed and a DIY LinQ solution
@RockinRack
@RockinRack 11 месяцев назад
The pro xu has the 4lok front locker. Also has a speed limiter and selectable engine breaking which I love way more than I thought I would. When speeding through trails I set it to max. When doing ranch work I have it on min so it slowly rolls to a stop
@andrewsbbq
@andrewsbbq 11 месяцев назад
@@RockinRack yea I’ll likely order a Pro XU. I with the non-Pro 700 could get the selectable front locker as an option instead of the auto locker I want to ride the 700 and Pro 700 to see the suspension difference
@RockinRack
@RockinRack 11 месяцев назад
@andrewsbbq I was also worried about that because it's supposed to be stiffer. But the regular 700 felt almost too soft. It was nice but when it came to cornering it had way to much roll which I didn't like. I imagine if you are an experienced speed rider you might want that though. The xu feels a little tighter but the pre load is set in the middle. I turned it all the way down and if felt more like the 700 xt. Soft over rocks and bumps but squishy in the corners. Turned all the way up it felt very stable and I could easily corner and throw the back end around but you definitely feel the trail more. I set it back to the middle position and it's a good compromise between soft ride and confident handling. I got the xu for the 4lok but honestly I enjoy the intelligent engine breaking a lot. That would be the selling point for me now! When you got someone on the back you can set it to min and they aren't slamming into you every time you let off the throttle haha
@andrewsbbq

@@RockinRack awesome thanks for the excellent first hand info. I currently ride a ‘05 Honda 500 with almost 6,000 miles. Lol the suspension in this is a hard and the travel is short. And no power steering. I feel all the trail The XU seems like a winner and a good price too.
