Advice to all current or training ABA therapists: NEVER EVER suppress stimming (hand flapping, finger flicking etc.) unless it is harming the individual, somebody else, or property. Stimming, while it might look “odd”, is actually very beneficial to autistic people. It helps to either provide or block out stimulation so that we can focus better and not get overwhelmed.
"Stimming, while it might look “odd”, is actually very beneficial to autistic people" Another case of generalising in a spectrum world. My son's stims which are pseudo stims are not beneficial, instead they wind him up further and cause eventual tissue damage. Being self-injurious these stims need to be curtailed where possible
Yes, that is exactly what is stated in the code of ethics for behavior analysts. We don’t target behaviors because they look weird or whatever. If a behavior does not pose a threat to the individual’s health, their learning, or their environment, we will not target those behaviors.
So glad to see this. We're going to start ABA with our 15 yo autistic son and the thing I was worried about is stimming...I want him to be able to stim and calm himself still.
Colie Tyler -Covers True Crime sounds like an amazing career. I’m looking into it now and I know this is something I’d love to do. I have an interview for Behavior Technician next week.
I just recently applied to work and got an interview for tomorrow. I am excited and nervous. This made me emotional because i could be doing this and it's so inspiring to see.
This makes me so happy. Seeing Pam's learner having a blast while working on social interactions and community skills is what it's all about! So proud of our staff and our learners
Seeing Pam work with her learner to learn applicable skills in the "real world" setting was amazing ! I loved seeing the pure joy on her learners face.
I am just starting my career as a Behavioral Technician with Austic children. I am extremely blessed, happy and am so excited to change their lives. Love and friendship goes so far. You are an amazing woman for all you do these children will never forget you
ABA in a naturalistic setting (I think) is one of the best ways to do ABA. The learners had so much bowling! My favorite is when she sang the songs! I couldn't help but smile!!!
What a beautiful video! I have a bachelor's in psych and am looking into RBT training and this looks like such a rewarding and important career! Thank you for sharing ya'lls experiences.
Im tearing up! For nearly 5 years now, i've been working as a caregiver and medtech for elderly with dementia, alzheimer's, and parkinson. Since I found out about ABA, I thought I'd like to work with kids! Although I love my seniors and the advice they've given me all these years, I think I am ready to expand my experience. I love helping people in need and i think thats my calling. I have BS in Health Science emphasis in community health education. I'm not sure if my study and work experience will qualify me but I really want to experience working with these kids. I hope get in!
That was AWESOME! Pam kept the focus on the “learner” by engaging in conversation , making sure the learner was comfortable during the entire session and giving positive reinforcement throughout the activity. This was great in building relationships and social skills .
I am a case worker at this current moment. I want to go ahead and continue my MS in ABA and probably in the future becoming a lawyer... I just know I like to help people....Its like having a huge family but at the same time is like we are learning new things.
Thank you for this video. I have a project in my Public Speaking course where I am a Behavior Analyst advocating for their company, and this video really helped me get an grasp on what a day in the job looks like.
Wow...This video highlights the amazing work each and every clinical associate on the team does on a daily basis. I'm very grateful for all they do for our learners and the life changing support provided each and every day. Well done!
This is a beautiful video that touches on the relationships we build with our learners. It is so important to have this type of rapport with our clients. It makes all the difference in the world to build positive relationships!
Such a fun day with sweet, amazing learners. Loved watching every minute of it. Thank you for sharing this little window into what your company is all about.
This is exactly why I've come to this channel...I want to learn how to ABA with my son Amari. I totally understand how difficult the process can be...God Bless
as a mother of an asd child i really really appreciate this channel and all of your uploads thanks so so much for all the amazing work you all do 😍 it means so much! 👏👏👏👏
I got my BS in Behavioral Science for selfish reasons- to help myself. Now I’m looking for work and wow this is a paying job?! Wow. I gotta go figure out the req’s real quick.

I'm from Southern IL and there isn't a school that offers this program. Any online school suggestions that doesn't have a long approval process to begin my shockin schooling?
I want to do this when I graduate. I'm in 11th grade so I am almost done with school. I don't know what websites to loom on or where to research to learn more about it tho.
@@TheBdinovi1 Thank you. Its funny because my professor just informed our class about this certification on Tuesday night. She mentioned that she was studying to become an ABA at the beginning of the semester and when I asked her what school she was attending, she said "Oh, I don't tell all of my business!" Well, she must have forgotten she said that and spilled the tea. 😉🤗So, I went home and did a little research. I think I've found a program/school I'm interested in. Im in grad school right now so I'll probably wait until after graduation to complete this program. I said all that to say "I have no idea how this video ended up in my feed, but it must be confirmation that I'm headed in the right direction. "Patience, my dear child." 😇Thank you for reaching out. Continue to be a blessing to others. She's a star!
Hi, I tried to contact you via e-mail but their was an issue I think, anyway I am an admin for a large speech and language delay group & the members have kids with a wide range of development issues and I came across this clip and I thought I would ask, would you be interesting joining and answear parents questions. Anyway I would love to hear from you. This group has all ready a Speech Pathologist and a OT youtubers & you could bring some extra help. Anyway Let me know.
facebook.com/groups/parentsofchildrenwithspeechandlanguagedelays/?ref=bookmarks The way it would work is that we would agree on a date at ur choosing u could do a live facebook stream and parents have the opportunity to ask questions. This is all we require, if you wish to offer more than that then great, currently the other therapists do regular streams & share their own personal clips. I hope to hear from you Elizabeth.
