The Charge Nurse is one of the most important roles of the unit. The Charge Nurse handles the daily duties such as (and not limited to) staffing the unit, assigning patients for the nurses, overseeing admissions and discharges, and helping out other nurses. The Charge Nurse usually carries a phone dedicated to the role, and that phone seems to never stop ringing.
