I have a niece that's three years old. Whenever I meet up with my sister she knows I'm gonna play with her child almost the whole time. My niece knows she has my undivided attention for a few hours and we have lots of fun. The adults get to do their adult stuff like have a conversation and I get to quiet the gaping hole in my heart where a family should be. If my niece needs to use the bathroom or goes off the rails like three year old's do sometimes, or anything like that, her parents get to take care of her. It's a very equitable trade.
