when the conductor is hitting the bus he's communicating with the driver, it means either stop (to drop off a passenger) or drive on. They sometimes hit the matatu to urge people to get on as it gives the impression that the matatu is ready to move.
Grew up in Kenya in the 80’s and matured there in the 90’s. Memories of mathree (matatu) culture! Not sure I would have completed high school with this distraction without my mother’s iron fist 😂!
