No axle swap going on here, an E350 and F350 already share the same axle. All that's needed is a dual wheel conversion and they're readily available. As for no reason not to, there is absolutely reason to do this conversion! The added stability is incredible so whether you haul passengers, cargo, or tow, it makes it a much safer vehicle. I had this same vehicle without duals, went to duals on a different van and it was a completely different machine. Soon going back to a regular E350 and will definitely be converting. :)
Probably just wheel adapters though I have seen quite a few that have taken the time to swap axles and a couple that dropped the van body onto an E350 or E450 cutaway chassis. I have an E450 with the Dana-80 rear axle and considered shortening the chassis to drop my E150 cargo van body onto. Currently my E450 has a 70" double bunk sleeper cab and a 16x8 flatbed. Makes a great toy hauler.
Van duallys started in the mid 90s as a retro fit. Fire Fighters were dieing en route to the fires! I built one out of an 88 E350 extended cargo 7.3 diesel. Square body with aftermarket square fenders. posi 410 rear end from a motorhome, transmission from a Uhaul, mud tires, huge front bumper. Unstopable! Snow and ice! Please, I pass 4x4 trucks. Last week going over Santiam Pass in Oregon a tree was down, drove right over it! Definitly was worth the work. Gets more attention than my old Porsche, daily.
E350 and E450 cube van rear diff bolts into this. they only came with a dana60 semifloat rear OEM. I wore my 2003 clubwagon rear axle to dust, dually axle would have been great for hauling my trailer . anything over around 12,000 lbs felt a little unstable.
No axle swap, it's the same axle as a f350, just change the hubs, which they sell with the flares on Amazon 😂 I own one, towes 14k so dually is for the 2k pounds of tongue weight the trailer adds to the back. Same as a dually truck, same frame same motor same transmission just a different body.
1. this is common more so than you think. 2. the reason is not for "to many kids in the back" it is to control roll over on the worst vehicles around for rollovers. ford design flaw has the rear wheels tracking 4 inches less than front so on a swerve at speed the van squats and tilts in the rear causing a flip. people who know use wheel spacers at least on the rear of these, people who are smart and can afford it, do a dually conversion. just FYI cause it sounds dumb when you talk but do no research first, which is also common today as well.
Never seen an econline dually before? Chances are there was one in the opposite lane during the video lol They're quite popular here in North America...
