Okay so i have 2 bands at the back. I used the 4 book method your way. It worked great! But now i need advice on the card holders and the zip pouch. Can someone me?
You can still thread them in between the band and around the book you want it on or wrap it around the book you want before you attach the jump band then proceed as before.
That's interesting, I was never aware of this problem with TNs. I have a system called x-17, I've used it for eight or nine years now. This system has individual bands for all books and enough space to comfortably keep them in there (small notches evenly spaced). I find your way of putting the inserts in when you only have one band in the back quite cool. If I find myself with a TN with just one band in the back, I'll do it your way, too.
Thanks so much! Made a TN as a gift and couldn't make the inserts behave until I watched your hack. I thought about not gifting it because it looked messy to me. Looks so much better that I can't wait to surprise my friend with it!
OMG! Yes! This is what I needed! The books poking out erked me so much was was tempted to just give up and move out of my new blue traveler's company TN. But I've been trying to make this work. Thank you so much for sharing this hack. ❤
The overhang was the reason I never bought a Travelers Company notebook. I would buy Chic Sparrow but then got carried away with pocket inserts and the wallet. I’m still going to get the Passport Olive when its back in stock! Can’t wait! Thanks for sharing! God bless you!
This is so useful! I saved your video for future reference. I just got my TN Regular Size last week and still working out how I want to use it/set it up.
Love the THREE notebook method. The four one didn't work FOR ME! The leather cover seemed too small all of a sudden... 😁 (I know that feeling... Lol...) Well, I guess that Traveler's Company would say it meant to house only three refills, tops... but... Oh, well. Thanks for a wonderful video!
Great idea! I'm new to the world of traveling notebooks and am so happy to have found an active community of helpful and friendly note-takers offering so much support. Thank you for showing me how free and personalized my notebook setup can be! I honestly never considered not always having the standard three inserts in at all times, my mind is a bit blown thinking of the world that his unfolded before my eyes
If you attach two together in their center using a jump band, NOT in the cover, just together.. then put your third notebook INSIDE the cover just normal like. Lastly, take the two that you attached to one another, keep them closed, slide one closed one underneath/behind the one that’s in the cover. This way you don’t have four bands inside one notebook. Each notebook only has one band inside it. I’ll try to find a video.
Hi @diana, Thanks for sharing. Do you use the Travelers Company branded bands, or something more thin? Just curious, because I still have the overhang issue when using this method and four refills in a Regular sized TN. Sometimes, your bands look more thin than the TN brand bands, but my eyes could be playing tricks on me :) thanks!
wow! That worked perfectly except I have a kraft folder and plastic zipper insert which seem to been thrown off a little with it. Should I split them up?
Interesting! What a good idea, for solving the gaping center notebook issue. How creative of you! I found your channel doing a search for different ways to attach travelers notebook inserts. So glad I found your channel. I'd like to make a DIY cover for my A5 notebook. I have a scrap of leather and a set of the TN Accessories 009 repair kit bands, but can't figure out how to attach the main band to the notebook. There is a little metal "bead" in the kit and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to attach it. Would you consider doing a video showing how to make a TN notebook from scratch? Any assistance you may be able to provide will be much appreciated.📙💘🖋
Okay this is brilliant. I want to add that if you use decorative string beaded "bookmarks" like I do... if you put them in first and then put these on, they hold them in and they don't fall out anymore! Thank you!
