Hej Allihopa!
I was an exchange student in Sweden way back in 97/98 and I'm back to pedal the length of this beautiful country. I'm starting my adventure above the Arctic Circle in Kiruna, and I'll make my way down to the bottom of Sweden where my host family lives. In this episode, I saw goodbye to my gracious hosts, get blasted by the wind, check out the charming town of Gränna (Candy Canes), celebrate the 4th of July in a cozy hotel room and ride 135 miles to the border of Skåne (I'm almost home!) Imagine living in a country where one can set items out for sale and can trust fellow countrymen to pay for the goods without fear of theft! Wow, very appealing!

I so much enjoyed this Swedish series, the scenery was epic, but the people are a breath of fresh air. I'm 75 a native of California, residing near S.F. It's the wild west out here. Leaving your bike anywhere even double chained, very high possibility it will be gone. Your videos are top quality. I have been following you for years, love every one of them. I've become a Patreon, because "you do add value to my life." Can't wait until next Sunday, when you hook up with your second family. Be safe.❤

Keep in mind that Ryan is visiting the rural Sweden where actual swedes live in a great majority. People are in general honorable like in the old days at these places. If you move towards bigger towns and cities you cannot be naive anymore. People are not genuine, and anything that is not locked by frame to something will most likely be gone very soon. Hey, I don't even want to let my 20 year old 100 bucks bike stay outside. The area were Ryan is heading towards outside Malmö (Looks like it's Lomma) is infested with despicable people. Now, Lomma is the very light variant of the spectrum but Malmö is bleeding its poison to neighboring towns.

I look forward to these videos every Sunday and will miss them when they end. Anders is lovely, as were your hosts, and that cut little cottage. A journey is what you make it and how you interact with the people you meet, and you have met some wonderful people. Of course, they react well to you because you are so charming and friendly yourself. If there were more people like you, perhaps the world would not be in the turmoil it is currently. Best wishes.

Wanting one's country to be better, to strive to live up to its best, cherished ideals, is the best form of patriotism. It applies to all our countries. Happy 4th from Canada. I'm interspersing your videos with Pekka Tahkola's video releases of his September randonneur ride from Latvia to northern Finland, partially through Sweden - never get tired of cycling road trips. 🙂

While it's hard to believe your epic Swedish bikepacking journey is near its end, it's been nothing short of amazing and inspiring following the entire thing. Admittedly, it's also a bit surreal witnessing you take in your 4th of July on October 9th, our Canadian Thanksgiving. Time truly waits for no one, and we all need to take a moment or two to appreciate the simple joys life has to offer.

Amazing as always Ryan. This series is making me appreciate my wonderful home country (I moved here 25 years ago from the UK) even more. Do you know about the huge bike race each year around Vättern- Vättern runt. A 300km fun race for amateur cyclists. If you can't bring your bike over, maybe in the future you can hire a bike and ride the race with thousands of other cyclists. Det är en riktig folkfest!

Wow! Imagine that you made it all the way to the south of Sweden already! What a ride! Another piece of Sweden trivia, or two in fact: Prior to entering Jönköping, Ryan would pass the city of Huskvarna, base of operations for the company with the same name (int known as Husquarna) famous for garden tools, lawn mowers (and the robot mower encountered in this episode), chainsaws, dirtbikes (all swedish fireballs!") and other eqipment. I believe the common name for Husquarna products in the states is "Husky" but feel free to correct me on that. Trivia piece no2: Ludvika, which is close to Söderbärke which Ryan passed some eposides ago, is home to Finnmarksturen, a 50 mile long mountainbike race which takes place annually and has been going strong for about 30years.
